The music and film are a testament to the work ethic of the Amish....I watched them built a barn like this in a day and then six years later actually pick it up and move it. No machines, just working in unison......a textbook of culture enhanced by the amazing orchestrated piece! ❤
Scène magnifique. Symbolise les moments d'entraide,de fraternité, des Temps anciens où les gens bâtissaient ensemble,en commun .Scène d'amitié et d'amour.
This scene moves me so much. It always thrilled me. I believe this scene demonstrates the essence of humanity where people help each other and build. We seem to be getting further and further away from that. Thrilling!
Witness has been one of my very favourite films since it came out and this amazing scene and music played a huge part in that. To this day I can’t quite decipher what is it about this scene that is so memorable and riveting. Maybe it speaks to an ancient part in our psych that remembers what it’s like to live a simple life as part of a community.
Building the barn....the music gives me goosebumps. This film is really one of the most emotional films I have ever seen....the music is stunning!!! Everything about this film is beautiful, the actors, story and scenery!!! It's a masterpiece!!! ❤
My mother's all time favorite film. I think it reminded her of her roots living on a farm in Oklahoma, but it struck a deep chord, especially this barn-raising moment. My favorite, and I love the music score so much.
When the East Germans fled en masse from the GDR in their Trabbants via the Hungarian-Austria border, relief camps were hastily built. The news broadcasts showed that construction to the accompaniment of this beautiful music. Very few understood the choice of music. I cried from start to finish.
Crazy Hazy, Bless you and sorry for the loss of your father. Mine was a Mennonite and this scene, this song have reminded me of him and my family history since I saw the film in a theatre. May our father’s fully seize and throttle their Heavenly eternity with the vim and vigor of an Amish child pounding nails to be a part of their tribe. Peace.
The Barn raising was when Daniel accepted Book. Book also knew Daniel was better suited for Rachel. He couldn't live Rachel's life and Rachel couldn't live his.
Yes!! Played this at our Wedding, in 1987. Our BARN RE-RAISING is like a cloud on the horizon. After 17 yrs of waiting, this condirms it: any day, now!
A fantastic piece of music! The orchestral version is magnificent and majestic, like the soaring ramparts of a mighty mountain, piercing the clouds and on up into the heavens. It is uplifting with an ethereal quality, yet a kind of melancholy at the same time.
It has a slightly menacing opening, when I first saw the film, heard the opening melody and saw all the Amish I thought 'oh crap, what's about to happen now?'.
The most sublime few minutes of cinema EVER - JUST DIVINE. Only Roy Batty's "Tears in the Rain" scene in "Bladerunner" moves me as much, but this has utterly divine music.
32 years ... I saw this movie ... times passes so fast letting only a trail of melancholy and souvenirs of the youth .... This beautiful music makes me realize how much my youth is far away now ...
I remember seeing Witness at the cinema twice. And I took a wlakman into the theatre the second time to record this amazing Bach-like track as I was too impatient to wait for the soundtrack's release. It is still a powerful piece from the majestic Maurice Jarre.
I got play in a and work in a few barns built like this one ...later I saw several that were demolished.....I get a little misty eyed when this video is observed!
Even though it's not November now, thumbs up if this music gives you the warm, comfortable vibe of a big family Thanksgiving feast. I love this song for its playful Thanksgiving Dinner mood.
I always got the feeling that Daniel could have taken Book in a fight if he weren't a pacifist. He would have crushed the hoodlum who shoved the ice cream in his face. Book handled it breaking his nose even though Daniel told him to leave the jerk alone.
So So Sad I am when watching this mesmerising film on BBC4 last night. Kelly McGillis so So Beautiful...Oscars all round should this have been. Thank you for reading.
I used to admire Hamish, but I don`t now, because on TIKTOK, someone put up a video showing a rescued heavy horse that had suffered a life of hard work and was displaying its results. It was once owned by the Hamish. To wantonly disregard the welfare of one of God`s creatures is unforgivable. Watching this animal made me realise the Hamish are not the God-fearing people one surmises.
I don't know why they didn't leave the barn up. Move it somewhere else. Many people would have loved to have the barn on their property knowing it's origination
PostScript. It makes you want John to have had turned his car around went back married Rachel and lived the Amish way. I suppose this is dreaming/ wishful thinking! and could have never been the ending; but who knows?
One of the greatest scenes in film.

Et tout cela transcendé par une musique envoûtante, qui fait pleurer,à chaque vision du film.
One of the best movie music themes of all time. Period
Estoy de acuerdo con su apreciación . Jose Cal..!!
Absolutely agree.
Wat about the movie? Is it good?@@jamesadams6009

100% agree with you.
One of my favourite films - the barn raising scene and score are just sublime!

That's an interesting way of looking at it.
100% d'accord. Merveilleuse musique, symbole des temps anciens où l'on BÂTISSAIT dans la Fraternité et l'amitié (magnifique scène d'amour....)
It displays peace and harmony and working together. Something this country desperately needs today

The message is the movie

The same guy did "Lawrence of Arabia Soundtrack"-1962
My fathers favourite film - watched this with him as a child. Beautifully orchestrated with wonderful memories of my father. Beautiful 🥰
Me too
I loved it as well.❤

You may find more popular tracks, but none so serene. It's pure quality stuff.

😢
Played this at dads funeral..RIP dad❤👍🍻

RIP
This was the end credits theme as well.😊
What a pity their worlds couldn't collide and then remain together - Rachel and John hugely in love for a moment in time.
It would have never worked. Two different lifestyles. Rachel was better off with Daniel.
surely one of the most stirring and uplifting scenes in all of cinematography
이 영화를 보면 고등학생때 처음 보았던 그 설레임을 잊을수 없다. my favorite film. ♥
Thank you for you beautiful music, Maurice (RIP).
Best movie ever ❤
Un crescendo symphonique franchement réussi. Du grand Maurice Jarre.
One of my favourite film music ❤❤❤!!!
What a wonderful stirring piece of music this is!
This and the theme from 'Cast Away' are the two most beautiful and evocative film themes ever composed.

Well said, Sir.
In my life this is the best of best movie and music is nothing to say anything if anyone don’t like music may be he would listen to this music.
It has a slightly menacing opening, when I first saw the film, heard the opening melody and saw all the Amish I thought 'oh crap, what's about to happen now?'.
The complements the video but the true message are the Amish and a life style of peace
Just a Beautiful Film. I cried watching the Love 😢 scene
that's rather glorious
Lifts my heart
This music touches my soul each time I hear it

merveilleux tout simplement merveilleux
I play this when I'm washing the dishes. My wife makes the lemonade.
This had me dying
Hahaha.
That is the best from where we all are in our little daily chores that bring us as close as it gets
So very good
Some of the best music I've ever heard without lyrics.......a wonderful score.
Amenisaymen

Why didn't you download it on Itunes?
iTunes in 1985?
@@peterkazmierczak7273 I'm sure Marty and Doc Brown had it.
A mighty fortress is this barn.
great, must watch the whole film again.
A great music from Maurice Jarre
2:06 Is Book doing what I _think_ he's doing? Even Hochleitner can't believe his eyes
I got play in a and work in a few barns built like this one ...later I saw several that were demolished.....I get a little misty eyed when this video is observed!
This was my processional at my wedding.
I had it at the end of our Wedding, in 1987. It was the only detail I insisted on.
Hay ome chuck norsdtad
AWESOME!
A beautiful film and only Jarre could have done the score for it.
It's very hard not to fall in love with real community. And that's a young Viggo Mortensen helping out.
working in construction when things came together this song popped
in my mind.
brilliant
I prefer this version but it's still remarkably moving on synthesizer.
Oh, soothes my heart and mind! Thank you!
my French compatriot Maurice Jarre was a great composer
Fitted lamented flooring the other day in my own house and had a secret hum to myself.
I'm fixing up my house and i have this playing is awesome
FILM ET SUPERBE MUSIQUE
you be careful out there...among them English.........
It's four-thirty, time for milking!
doux seigneur étant ta grace sur les hommes
Harrison Forn did not need too much instructions for this scene, he was a carpenter before his acting career.
WOW

Esta melodía me hace volar y volar...
A mi me pone nostalgico la cancion y el final de la pelicula 😓😔
I always got the feeling that Daniel could have taken Book in a fight if he weren't a pacifist. He would have crushed the hoodlum who shoved the ice cream in his face. Book handled it breaking his nose even though Daniel told him to leave the jerk alone.
I hear touches of Pachelbel, Canon in C. No idea this was a modern piece. Beautiful.
Yes, it has a baroque feel because it's a fugue.
He has his world, you have your, it cannot be,
Its where Daniel comes to like Book and visa versa. Book knew Daniel was perfect for Rachel when he left.
This is the sound of Pennsylvania.
Try Smiling by Harry Gregson- Williams from Man on Fire. Gorgeous!
So So Sad I am when watching this mesmerising film on BBC4 last night. Kelly McGillis so So Beautiful...Oscars all round should this have been. Thank you for reading.
And after the movie was concluded, they tore this barn down. Sad.
Y porque derribaron el granero?😓

es ist schon ein erhabener moment wenn ein fachwerkhaus errichtet wird. Und besonders wenn dies in gemeinschaftsarbeitet getan wird...

Sounds like Church music (Hymn). Either modified or inspired.
I don't know why they didn't leave the barn up. Move it somewhere else. Many people would have loved to have the barn on their property knowing it's origination
What CD is this on folks?
Dislike this? Dead inside!
Where was this version from?
Um pequeno grande filme!
Marcou muito a minha vida este .filme mal sabia eu que hoje eu seria um cristão desta tão honrada tradição.
J.S.Bach could have composed this lovely music. Thanks.
A very perceptive comment, and entirely appropriate since it's a fugue.
Bach wouLd'v said a mighty fortrs is their barn, maestro Jarre chanLd JB
now this is movie making kids.
A beautiful score, cathederal like in it's innocents
Prefer movie version.
I thought they were supposed to build a Pool?
Y para que ivan a construir una piscina?
Books hammering skills are very very poor
Viggo Mortenson has no speaking parts in the movie.
.
Sorry, but the electronic version is much more inspiring.
Do you know when the movie was finished, they tore down this barn.
Could they not have applied for retrospective planning permission?
Y porque derribaron el granero que triste 😓😔
The Amish were so judgemental against Booke....and he was a good honest cop.
Amish people know how to work as a team and work together.
Jesus ti ama muito Patrícia
