Thanks for a very simple and easy to understand video on how to build this kit. Think I have 1 or 2 in my stash, but from what I understand, a M35 truck was used to carry/launch the missile and truck is not available as a kit other than this one. Getting back into modeling, but going to do zombie dioramas and think doing one of these trucks will be something a little different. No missile, but make a large box to represent a shop vehicle that's been turned into an rv.
Have both the Revell 1/40 and the original Renwal 1/32 kits... the Revell kit is more accurate and better fidelity . The truck carrier for the Renwal kit is the same truck as the Renwal military wrecker, modified to carry the lacrosse missile. So it it not actually the correct truck for the lacrosse carrier. Close, but there is a difference for those who care. In other words, if you want a faithful reproduction, build the Revell kit. Great review of the build!
Thanks for showing off the kit and build of it...turned out really nice just out of the box. Pretty sure I don't have one of those in my stash. Started building models in '74 and majority of my stuff's aircraft. Any armor was WW 2/Korea. Getting back into modeling after 15 years, but going for zombie/apocalypse dioramas in 1/35th scale. And things have really changed during this time.Plan on using a bunch of military vehicles, but as mil surplus. Was looking at this kit on Evilbay and wondered if the truck was used for other purposes. Find out it was used as a repair shop for the missile maintenance people, also a radar van with the radar dish towed behind the truck and of course, troop carrier. Thing is, from what I understand, this is the ONLY model kit available of this truck type. And I think this truck type was also the only one to carry/launch the missile.
OBFM - Thanks for insights on this kit. The Renwal stuff was made of many obscure "picture in time" moments and it's great that they are being re-issued. -Doug
If you like something unusual in 1:35th scale, a Star Wars kit of Lord Vader's (David Prowse) TIE Advanced fighter is close at 1:32nd scale. Keep in mind that the armoured Sith Lord was huge: I had met Mr. Prowse, and he towered over this bony nerd, standing 205 cm and 126 kg (6'7", 265 lbs) to my 180 cm and 60 kg (5'11", 132 lbs). With the boots, helmet, etc., he estimated that he approached 210 cm (6'9")! If you were to use it somehow, it would surprise!
In the video on the Renwal La Crosse Missile Kit, You indicated to apply Future or Pledge to the model so the decals would adhere, Does Future come in a spray version? , I don't have an airbrush.
Michael - It does not but it is very viscous. You could use a fine mist bottle like an old perfume spray bottle or even try light mist coats from a standard dollar store spray bottle. The best results come from an airbrush. You can actually brush it on, but that sometimes leaves brush strokes. If you need to add a gloss spray to apply the decals over flat paint, your best bet might be to simply spray on some gloss clear coat paint that's compatible with your color coats. Then apply the decals and return the sheen to flat by sealing in the decals with a clear flat spray paint. -Doug
Michael - You're better off with any of the other methods except brush painting but if that's all you've got - light mist coats undiluted from the bottle could be used if you wick off any pooling and rotate the model until it starts to dry. -Doug
What is the official DoD designation for the truck in this model, please? Do the front wheels steer? Does the elevating cylinder mechanism operate? I do not need to make a working toy of this; I like it to be flexible for positioning for a diorama. Toward that, what kind of missile is this? What is its official DoD designation? Please and thank you.
David, Great questions. As I recall the elevator and launch rail allow for motion. I'm not a military expert but I'm sure all that designation information is available through online search! -Doug

do you think you can make a video on the teracruzer renwal kit?
Casey - I'll see what I can do! -Doug
ok thank you.

Now do y'all mean watering down the Future and putting it in a spray bottle?

I personally like the camouflage spray paint
Thanks ST! -Doug
Casey, Where can I get the Krylon Olive Drab Spray Paint y'all mentioned in this video, Is it safe for styrene? Its not laquer, Is it? Enamel?
I meant Rustoleum
MB - You can get that at Lowes and online through Amazon. Rust-Oleum Specialty Army Green Spray -Doug
Thanks!
It's a labor of love, KB!
