    Hey Chris. In your opinion, is the CyberOps pretty much the same cert as the CEH (with more of a Cisco flavour)? My college is an approved academy for both, not sure which one I should take.

    • @ChrisGreer
      @ChrisGreer  Год назад +1

      Hi Rakesh! I would not say the same - from a tools perspective you will definitely learn more open-source and general hacking tools with the CEH. That said, if I had to take one first, I'd probably do the Cisco CyberOps first. Honestly the CEH was disappointing for me because there were so many examples of non-practical and non-real world scenarios that you had to memorize just to take the test. They also got a few concepts wrong about packets and protocol analysis, so for that I personally don't recommend the CEH. I think either the CyberOps or the Sec+ is a great place to start.

    Hey chris, if I want to inspect all the traffic (including https) and log it into an analytical engine (such as SIEM). How could i achieve this ?

    • @ChrisGreer
      @ChrisGreer  Год назад

      Just making sure I understand - you don't just want to do traffic inspection, you want to do TLS decryption, correct? That would involve a TLS proxy, which is pretty pricey, but possible. At this time I know companies like Palo Alto, Profitap, and Extrahop can do TLS decryption. If that isn't the goal, then definitely start with Snort/Suricata/Security Onion type IDS/IPS and build from there.

    What certs do you recommend for cybersecurity? Also should I go CompTIA or Cisco route for certifications?

    • @ChrisGreer
      @ChrisGreer  Год назад +2

      Maybe I am just biased to the network side of things, but honestly I think the CCNA is a great foundation, followed by the Sec+ for general infosec knowledge. Those two together would give you a well-rounded intro in my opinion. I would definitely not recommend the CEH. It was 5-miles wide and one inch deep.

    • @ChrisGreer
      @ChrisGreer  Год назад

      Hey! I think it is a very good starting point if you would like to go to a Cisco Shop. Otherwise - I would recommend the security +. Not a packet centric, but much more general and non vendor

    • @ChrisGreer
      @ChrisGreer  Год назад

      I would not get this cert for backend dev. But no matter what you do in IT, at least one starting security cert will help with the fundamentals of cybersecurity, which is important for everyone to understand these days. So hey if you have the extra time I would say go for it - but it won't do much toward your dev stuff.

    • @ChrisGreer
      @ChrisGreer  Год назад +1

      There is definitely some overlap between the CyberOps Associate and the Security+, but I like the latter since it is less vendor focused and more concept focused. It is going to be recognized by a wider audience in the industry. Can't hurt to take that one too!
