  • Beretta has taken the competition scene serious in the past few years. However, did they release a "looker" or does it perform as good as it looks?!?!

    Held one at the store the other day. The grip ergonomics are phenomenal for my medium sized hands. Unbelievably comfortable and points beautifully. Thanks!

    I am impressed with Beretta’s commitment to competition shooting. Building guns aimed at different classes and or disciplines. My 92 Carry Optic is very well done and the factory trigger is better than my LTT. Thanks for the overview.

    If this had a better trigger, I would likely buy it. I held one today and loved the feel in hand, but the trigger was a huge let down. I also would like it to come with interchangeable back straps to adjust trigger reach.

      The grip situation is addressed by different grips available, definitely felt the trigger was one that was better shooting than dry fire

    I have the langdon squalo and it is simply amazing. Coexist sites and optics. 3 lb tiger pull and all the magic they do. Worth every penny. Highly recommend.

    I love the look of the 92 with irons, with a dot not so much. I wish you could have the optic sit more flush. It would be cool to see a company remove the rear sight and cut for the dot to sit farther back and more flush with the slide

    • @TheGentlemanGunner
      @TheGentlemanGunner  8 месяцев назад

      I agree. Langdon’s version of the Squalo eliminates the rear sight… essentially becomes integrated into the mounting plate.

    I Purchased the first edition that came out with a wooden grips and I was so disappointed with that 6 pound trigger pull that I turned around and sold it within a few weeks because one for that price well put it this way there’s guns half that price or less that I have way better triggers I don’t know what Beretta was thinking this could’ve been such a great gun if they did just put a little more time and effort into the trigger. You shouldn’t have to wait do you get for 500 rounds through it for the trigger to improve. That should’ve been a 4 pound to start with and then it should’ve gone down to 3 1/2 or three after your shot it. It’s not a carry gun at least for most people

    The grey cerakote is pretty clean. This model is sweet. I wonder if the magwell works with mags from the 92x or mecgar mags which have +0 baseplates that are each a little different.

    • @TheGentlemanGunner
      @TheGentlemanGunner  8 месяцев назад

      It comes with the factory Mec-gar baseplate and it doesn’t work with the magwell. You’d have to get the Toni System extended base pads at the least.

    I definitely agree the felt recoil was very surprising I didn’t think it was snappy at all but the return to zero was excellent there’s a lot of redeeming qualities it’s just I can’t live with the trigger. Maybe I should’ve kept it and had some tree work done on it

    • @TheGentlemanGunner
      @TheGentlemanGunner  8 месяцев назад

      I’m with you on your last comment… when there’s a certain dollar of threshold that has been passed… it’s a fair expectation to have it work as advertised. I can say that because I’ve had Glocks, Staccatos, and MPAs work and function as advertised. I’m rooting for Beretta and would love for them to win (and retain) more business… which is what hope happens in their QC or which ever dept this needs attention in.
      I will say after experiencing Ben’s (guy I mention in the video) trigger job… Beretta has a solid chance to share the platform with many quality builders.

    I have the original 92XI. My trigger was about 3.5lbs. After about 1k rounds, it's around 3. It came with the lighter trigger springs already. 4-6lbs doesn't sound normal. Maybe the Squalo is tuned heavier? My one HUGE gripe is I can't find cowitness sights. Beretta won't confirm if the M9a3 suppressors would fit. But I added Loks and a gas pedal, making this thing REALLY fun. I wouldn'y get the magwell simply that I didn't need it....And that I didnt want too de dependant on Toni mag adaptors.. But I love the XI.. A very cool pistol.

      @@richdubbya I was quite surprised when it pulled at what did. This is why I try to buy off the shelf guns as I had this experience with the Prodigy as well. Also, that’s why I made this review 1000rd because I had a suspicion it would drop as it did.
      If you have a second, checkout the LTT version as you can tell the places the optic and sights in a different position which might be why you may not have answer back. But if it works out, let us know and thank you for watching!

      @@TheGentlemanGunner I have guns with a ton of parts from LTT. Great stuff. I've been considering getting the slide milled for tall sights and optic. Thankfully, there are holsters for 92s with tall sights. These 92XIs are awesome pistols. I like the 92XI better than the 92X Performance.

      I believe their new GTS is the answer to that… kinda interesting how now the thumb safety is the decocker

    • @danielgreen6547
      @danielgreen6547 Месяц назад

      @joep4794 I am told that if you replace the hammer with a normal DA/SA 92 hammer and change the trigger to a normal curved trigger, you *can* make the gun DA/SA, but with no decocker (like CZ75 you would have to thumb the hammer down carefully to the half-cock notch to put it safely into DA).

  • @Osprey1994
    @Osprey1994 8 месяцев назад

    Cool name, and good looking, but for that price you are approaching LTT 92 territory. Yes, SA vs DA/SA, but the double on the LTT is so easy to use.

    Coworker has one and after 500rds or so, somehow during a match (wrong pin used or dimensionally pin out of spec, crappy qc ?) the pin used to connect the LH safety to the RH safety came out, jammed the slide in the rearward/open position until it was fiddled with enough the pin fell out, releasing the slide so it could close. Then it was noticed that the safety’s were no longer connected. He got it back from beretta after about a month. Pretty disappointing (especially for my coworker) for a gun at this price point. My hi point hasn’t had such a catastrophic failure. Occasional jam, sure, but never a failure that made it completely useless. Hopefully for the xi owners this was just a one off occurrence.

    It’s important to note, Beretta has major issues with their firearms coming out of the new TN plant. The slide on my 92XI was butchered, and I hadn’t noticed until I got home. To anyone considering this or the regular 92XI, please make damn sure that it has no issues before paying. Inspect it well. After I sent them pictures, Beretta did say to send it in for them to inspect but the turn around time quoted was 8+ weeks.

  • @Rothbardy

    Something else, if you want to mount an optic, get the DLah plate system. It’s the thinnest reliable plate you can use without going to the extensive slide modifications that Langdon does.

    Can you recommend some grips that would be more "comfortable" as those grips after shooting a large amount of rounds is going to be a little hard on your hand. ???

    • @TheGentlemanGunner
      @TheGentlemanGunner  7 месяцев назад

      If you’re looking for options, I’d start with LOK grips. What’s comfortable to me, may not be your definition of comfortable… my mental sharpness will fall off long before my hands and body will get tired… so I may not be the best to answer that lol.

    Fun fact; 92XI means 92X “Inox” as the original 92I was a 92 Inox, and the 92x had no Inox version, then I spammed their Instagram comment section for a year for an Inox version then they released it. So 92XI is for 92x Inox. The 9211 just happens to coincide
