@@rustyshackle917 Not so much "dumb" as it really only happens in the urban areas. They don't provide enough funding for machines and precincts in the areas where Democrats are the majority. And they get away with it. On top of it, the law passed last year prevents anybody from bringing food or water to those waiting. But we don't need the Voting Rights Act in American anymore because there is no more racism.

It may not be consequential THIS year in determining control of Senate, but it could be consequential 2 years from now. AND 4 years from now.
In 2 years, it will make it possible for the democrats to strengthen control; in 4 years, the democrats will will have a filibuster-proof majority.

Why these lines in some states, in others there are no lines to wait to vote. Voter suppression is what I see.
I agree. There are people driving by saying "I just don't have this kind of time." Hopefully the lines lessen over the week, but you're right - there should be more machines and more precincts.
Here in NY State I never have more than 3 or 4 people ahead of me to vote. They seem to be trying to discourage people in the bigger cities to vote in Ga, because more usually vote Democratic.
These people are in line to vote. Where's the suppression? They are making their voices heard.
So, tell us how you feel about what went on in Maricopa County in Arizona, where Republican and right-leaning Independent voters were forced to wait in line for many hours because somehow, the printer settings on about 60% of their precincts did not work on Election Day after working flawlessly during early voting. Tell us how you feel about those who were told to trust the system and leave their ballots in Box 3 so they could be counted, only to find out later that their ballots were comingled with previously counted ballots and were not counted.
What was Stacey Abrams' position on these facts of voter suppression in Arizona? Oh, I know. "I'm focused on preserving democracy in my state..." blah blah blob."

It's very difficult to get an absentee ballot in Georgia, and in a runoff election there's no time given the convoluted process now in place to determine if you're qualified. Funny thing is - until Trump told his followers that mail-in voting is bad, it was mostly conservatives who opted for it for decades.
@@Kunsoo1024 Absentee ballots and Mail-in ballots are two different things. Absentee ballots must be requested. I've gotten mail in ballots to my address for people who don't live here.

We haven't been able to get Absentee Ballots for 2022 and we only have 7 days early voting. We don't have record turnout. On 1/5/2021, 4,484,000 Georgians voted in the Ossoff & Warnock runoff. Google the election result vote totals. The Absentee Ballot request website was deleted for the May 2022 primary and came back unusable for Nov and the runoff. Georgia only had 200,000 Absentee Ballots for Nov 2022. Our voting was similar to Michigan before Georgia SB202. Michigan had 3.3 million Absentee Ballot in the Nov 2022 election. When I listen to the news on Georgia voter turnout it is like I am living in China or Russia.

You get to vote prior to election day. A day that your employer may not pay you to miss hours. Imagine for a second how long the lines would be if everyone there voted on election day. It's never taken me more than 10 minutes to vote. I can't imagine waiting in line for a whole work shift.

But in some areas it's hard to get free time to go out and get your IDs and some places don't allow you time off work for voting. It's not entirely as easy as it is for you.
Mail in voting is a way to make sure those that can't go out to the polls get their chance to vote. I would think that everyone having the right to vote was a good thing, this just makes it much easier for people to do so.

You have to receive 50 percent or more of the vote to win or there's a runoff. Warnock received 49.4 percent. Not quite enough to avoid the runoff. Georgia rules.

Every time a union barks, the response is "How much will it take to appease you to get back to business as usual?" I worked for a private company where paper related products were manufactured. We did not have a union and that was not a problem for us workers. The company we worked for could not go crying to the government for money to fix their operations in order to appease us workers. Unions and welfare collectors control the outcomes of most Democrat run states. A lot of the tax money comes from those who are not union protected. This union business is a softer version of being a part of the communist party under communism. If one is not of a union, they can just eat cake, right? If all are union the nation as a whole will suffer because other peoples money will either be taxed to death , or the nation will go bankrupt. Your plan is not sustainable within the scope of freedom. Socialism ends when other peoples money runs-out.
@@paulturner3553 A union is a business. It sells labor. Instead of just accepting whatever wage the company offers, you bargain as a group. That's a union. If the business doesn't want to pay the wage, then it can do without the labor. Or try to purchase labor without unions, but as the trades have become less unionized, the quality has also declined because the apprenticeship programs created generations of quality tradespeople. But now people with money wine about the "work ethic." The work ethic hasn't changed. When they busted the unions they broke the very system which generated quality workers.
You know what's more like communism? Or perhaps more appropriately fascism or feudal dictatorship? Private companies, which are owned and/or run by despots. Unions may not be perfect, but they are the only offset to economic power which is more dangerous than military power and in the hands of very few. Power consolidates under unregulated markets and the despots rule.
Communism, as an ideology, developed out of unregulated markets.
As for buses, I don't know where you live but in San Francisco, NYC and other urban areas they are jam packed, as are the rail commute systems. Where they are empty they are inefficient, largely because they were destroyed by the auto-fossil fuel industry lobbies and purchases in the years post war where every policy was geared towards individuals driving cars out of redlined lilly-white suburbs. In San Francisco the Key System was bought by a consortium of tire, car, and fossil fuel interests which proceeded to tear up.
As for "welfare," that's just basically a social wage to partially compensate for the value of the labor appropriated for profit - a release valve to prevent revolution. Keynes was pretty open about that.

Because the red counties didn't set up Saturday voting thinking that their guy in the Secretary of State office would be allowed to shut down Saturday voting. The Georgia Supreme Court ruled against him, so it's mostly Democratic counties who opened today. The Republican effort to suppress the vote backfired.

Its not cheating. Warnock found a loophole in the state law and all the courts agreed with him because law only goes towards general and primary elections not runoffs

@Kraig StClair law name is SB 199. In the state of Georgia, federal holidays(thanksgiving) and state holidays(celebration of Robert E. Lee) early voting is prohibited on those days. Also senate bill 202 shortened the early voting timeline
