Wow, thank you Donna! I appreciate you saying so, especially for a person who, in her early years, hated to talk and was always quiet. Ha! Making up for time now. I’m glad I can bring a smile to your face. 🥰
I love Colorverse Bow Shock! Beautiful sheen and it shows up in awesome ways in my Delta Duna Happiness. I love, love writing with it, and don’t want to put it away for fall. So, since I’m “old” I’ll do what I want. 😂
Mmmmmh.... Hadn't given much thought about Lamy ink being the issue. I need to take the ink for a ride in a few pens and write a few passages with each. Hat to think that that ink, which I have awhole bottle of, is the cause of those blobs. 🫤
Great video, this is my second video I've watched and I just love you. Your personality is just so down to earth, yet passionate, excited, and I'm here for it, so I subscribed. Wrath is my favorite, and it does have dissapointing shimmer. I just pretend like it doesn't have any because im so obsessed with the tone of it 😂 Ngl, Colorverse Witch By Starlight and some RO colors are the only consistently shimmery colors I've found.
Heyyyy 👋🏽 Thanks for watching and subbing. Plus, FUN is the name of the game here. Heehee As for shimmers, it's a slow lesson to find out which ones show their shimmer in the writing. Some colours, like Wrath, are still worth writing with, others are kinda meh without the shimmer. 🤪
Hi Grace! Thank you for sharing your experiences! I learn (and laugh) a lot with your videos. Thank you for being you ❤️ I'm too lazy to deep cleanse my pens so I don't use shimmer inks, even though some of them are gorgeous. Loved your selection and glad it felt better for August part 2 !
Hey Ali! 👋🏽 I hear ya on pen cleaning. For me it's become a meditative process. I wait till I have a few (4+) to clean and just stand at the sink and go at it. The cleaning solution I bought does help me bypass any serious scrubbing needed. It just needs to sit in it for a couple hours to really get in there. For real tho, I just cannot do without my shimmers but I'm slowly learning which ones show up in the writing cause that's what matters to me. Thanks for watching! 🥰 Glad you're enjoying the videos!
If I want a sheening ink to show I have to put it in my Noodlers Konrad fit with a Fountain pen Revolution Ultra Flex nib and add a tooth pick dipped in white lightning into the converter of ink cause otherwise sometimes it just wont flow through the nib/feed :)
I unink pens every week and reink almost all new pens I do keep my address ink the same and my carbon black ink in my preppy and my kuratake brush pen the same so those are really the only ones that I just rince out and re ink with the same ink I find if you leave a ink in the pen too long a few things happen Evaporation , discoloration, uninterest, disinterest, works real well or doesnt work at all ...if I like a pen a lot and its really working well I make a note of it so I can use that combination in the future and if it doesnt write at all I make a note of that so I dont do that again also if its difficult to clean out I make a note of that ... recently I had put Diamine winter spice in my noodlers konrad thought it will be safe NOOOO it stained the whole barrel and I used bleach in that barrel for 3 days and it didnt budge so ... I bought myself a new noodlers konrad mwahahahaha take that pocket book HA !
Me too, I don't like leaving ink in a pens for long and will clean out pens as soon as I use up the ink (I don't fill a converter full either). And I agree, taking notes on pen & ink pairings (I use my PIPs sheets for that) is an important part of the pen hobby for me.
I have a Kaweco double broad just for uncooperative sheeners. I did discover that Tesla Coil did not sheen in any way in an Apicia cd11 book. That was kinda shocking to me. The others with sheen cam up and the shimmers came up. Make sure you have good flow on your nib when you use DeAtramentis Brilliant Violet Copper. I dropped it in a medium Kakuno and its fantastic. You might want to try a blotting paper under your hand as you write. I have greasy skin and my oils mess up how the ink performs. Also how rude for someone to even READ the words, let alone comment on them.
I never saw the need to buy a double broad pen cause I didn’t like how broad the stroke was but dang, I think I need them in my life cause I love sheening inks so much. Duh! (and I love your term “uncooperative sheeners”). I didn’t used to use a blotter but it’s become more regular to put one down now. My hands are generally more dry than greasy but I do lotion them a lot because of that so now I factor that in when I go to write. Amazing how diff factors you just never think of mattering contribute to more a more successful writing experience. And isn’t that what we’re after with these beautiful pens and inks we collect?
@@wildlyimaginable I found this out when I was in grade school (remember when we had to actually put pen to paper lol) And yes lotion will definitely affect these delicate papers we use. And weirdly little will have an affect.
I use a lot of Sheen Machine ink in my B nib pens. It works great in the Faber Castell Grip. The pen has to be perfectly dry when you fill it up, otherwise it gets diluted like I saw in the video and there is no shine.
My gosh, thanks for that tip! And I think I have a Faber Castell Grip pen that I’m gonna dig up and try that KWZ ink in. I don’t have many B nibs but that’s gonna change now because I have quite a few inks that are heavy, heavy sheeners like the one I used. You make have just saved my sheening ink pen life and penabled the heck out of me 😆 Thank you!!!
I had to clean, soak and even gently use a toothbrush to the feeds with cleaner to get the “glitter” out of my Opus 88 Harmony. Best intentions gone wild! Five cleanings to finally get it all out! Ugh!
@@followyourbrush I love those shimmers and glitters but they are a problem in fountain pens. I prefer using them with glass dip pens that way I'm a lot less nervous.😅
All the holders I have to carry pens around with me have 6 spaces, so 6 pens being inked up became my sweet spot. Also, I don’t like knowing I have pens that have been inked but are sitting in my storage draw not being used. Makes me feel bad for them (ikr, weird, right?). So that’s why I instituted this new 2-week monthly rule. I get to use more pens but not overwhelm myself. I kinda like it.
Aww Grace - I could listen to you talk no matter the subject! Your passion, inflection, humor, etc. just makes me smile

Yup. Do what YOU want. It’s your pen show life. 😆
glad to hear part 2 made up for part 1! colorverse hahoe mask is a gorgeous colour!
Bucky, Hahoe Mask might be the outlier fave ink for 2024 when I do my Top Faves video at the end of the year.
I had some blobbing issues with Lamy Dark Lilac in a TWISBI Eco! Never had these issues with Eco's before! xx

@@wildlyimaginable yes I do a full scrub when emptying, especially on sheeners and shimmers

Yup, put it on your list. I have 2 and now love writing with both ever since I changed the nibs. Go get you one!
@@wildlyimaginable I intend to, I just need to decide on which color! Decisions, decisions…
might need to add a few drops of water to the lamy dark lilac I had the opposite problem mine wouldnt come out of the pen
Thanks hon. I'll try that with a sample vial of ink and see if that works.
