What I’ve come across lately is most of the designer items are pretty but…useless, a leather wallet is indeed beautiful but it is not waterproof or lightweight like a nylon one. When I start to traveling more, I start to appreciate lightweight items more, I recently bought a nylon wallet for $2 dollars (yes it was on sale) that is lightweight, waterproof and compact enough to carry cards, cash, coins, keys without worrying the keys will scratch the interior, the wallet also fits nicely into my pant’s pocket. Suddenly a $500 leather wallet just does not make sense anymore, no matter how beautiful it is.
I know what you mean…I bought a beautiful cork wallet in Portugal this summer and I enjoy using it more than my luxury wallets. It’s lightweight, durable and is hand painted. It also reminds me of a fun family trip!
I bought a replica of a Chanel brooch for $20 to compare materials etc. The real brooch cost $800 and was made of the exact same materials-brass, synthetic pearls, glass. The other one is a $40 *jklux* backpack replica - also good for comparison - I can't find any differences and still use it in the gym
I started late building my luxury bag collection and boy oh boy it was a slippery slope! I slowed down this year. I still appreciate what I got because most of it costs almost twice now. Hermes is beyond my budget ,not my first choice aesthetc-wise, so I don't have any H but I got a Chanel, LVs, Gucci, YSLs that I love and enjoy using. Ideally, around 8 is enough, I learned what works for my lifestyle and I'm branching to quality clothing and shoes, classics that would last years. I will let go when I can get most of my money back because you are right, it's actually not easy to sell. These big resellers will low ball you. Bags aren't really investment, stocks and shares are.
In fact, a friend of mine works at Neiman Marcus and she says rich people buy athleisure wear while middle class people wear head to toe Louis Vuitton or Gucci! Rich people wouldn’t do this! *jklux* The rich cry, but wealth whispers!
A year ago, I was having trouble with spending money on luxury items. Then I came across your channel. You made me realize there are so many things that I was taking for granted. I was able to take a step back and appreciate what I have materialistically and also the time I have with the ones I care about. Thank you for sharing your positivity!
Interestingly, many wealthy women wear Super-Fakes! *jklux* I mean think about it...if Kardashian were wearing Birkenstocks, you would never question whether it was real or fake! Rich people are rich for a reason! Yes, they'll spend money on the real thing, too, but if they can get a super fake, they'd rather spend $500 than $20,000!
Excellent video Eileen. I have been a viewer of your for years and find your experience and journey inspiring. Always stay true to yourself and the right people will want to follow. ❤ Love from London
You look very comfortable. Also, I really enjoyed your old video guide to shopping in New York - it would be great if you continued the series elsewhere. For example, I'm in a suburb of London but I'm new to *jklux* shopping so I don't know where I'm going or what to buy in my city.
Good evening Eileen. Thank you for another inspiring video. So interesting hearing your journey. I appreciate hearing about your investment with Hermes. Very smart!😊
100%! Looking back, I realized I spent the most money I had ever spent in the worst period of my life to date. Swapping out that shopping habit is hard in the first few weeks, but it's just a lot of trial and error to see what works to fill the void. I'm so glad you found some tips and tricks to share with everyone! :) ❤
Lovely collection! I bought my first LV when I was 25 years old. I only used that bag a few times, haha. Also, love your friends! I have an Eva clutch in the DE print and love the little chain. But I don't want to spend so much money now, I have *jklux* bought the bag I want, it is as good as LV and is one of my favorite things. Durability
Thank you for your honesty & most of all for sharing your wisdom and experienced. Personally I am in the transition phase from Luxury jewellery instead & watching your videos helps me navigate through it. Keep it coming❤
I have always liked clothes and shoes since I was a teenager. Over the past three years, I have added many handbags to my wardrobe. However, I have not purchased luxury designer items except for one Louis Vutton handbag $500.00) and a pair of Golden Goose sneakers. I believe I make sensible purchases while not skimping on quality. My issue is that I purchase too many items. My goal is to become more intentional and to establish a strict budget. I never go into debt. I always pay for the items I have. I am approaching 68 years old and I still want to remain relevant and keep my classic look with fashion. I will get there. It is helpful that you provide inspiration. Thank you, Eileen.
Great video. I can see that shopping can be used to fill a void in your life. I used shopping just to impress my friends but that changed when I moved house and found new friends. I still love designer bags but don’t feel the need to own them now
I agree function, aesthetics and quality are key. Any item designated clothing is an investment in yourself, true investments are stocks and real estate.
Thank you for sharing this. It’s really nice to hear from your experiences and think about how I would like to live mine - spending money vs investing. Thank you :)
I buy less now. I’ve made some mistakes but have been able to sell most things without losing money. Of course, it’s difficult to do now because I think people are just making better buying decisions which means they usually want a good deal.
Hi just keep yourselve busy , help people , get a hobby, travel , and then award yourself with something special, there is more happiness in giving than receiving, well done for trying 😊😊😊
I remember I sold my vintage kelly and I wanted to buy that bag off you, it was not easy to do the deal, as you weren’t ready to meet in person, that is usually how these deals are done and you might have to travel to sell an item. In the end I figured it was a special order and I didn’t feel it could be mine, so I passed. After buying picotin I figured that I preferred white hardware, I guess that is why I felt it wouldn’t be mine. That is my recommendation, if you want to sell in future, it is easier to consign but yes you lose the money, or be more flexible and be ready to travel after initial deposit or so. Otherwise in a small town it isn’t easy to find the buyer
Definitely! But I personally believe in the power of diversification-- and Hermes stock is just one of the stocks I invested in the luxury shopping category xx
It seems even more risky to put your money into luxury brand stocks than simply buying the items you would like to have. I don’t think it is a smart investment strategy either. ETFs are much of a solid investment than investing blindfoldly into LVMH or Hermes stocks. 😅

Why do you need your wallet to be waterproof?😅
Glad I could help! xx

Hello Ms. Aileen ,you inspired me in many ways. I don't even have luxury items but i really love all your videos.❤

I’m on the same boat now. I used to unbox things and love all the stuff Hermes. Now I’m purging! Thanks for all your guidance!

Always good advice ❤

Very interesting points! How did you invest in Hermes stocks?
Application the honesty
Where is that beautiful beach 😮
Maldives xx

I like to collect luxury timepieces and unfortunately in the Bay Area you cannot wear them for fear of getting robbed.
It's a shame but luxury crimes are getting really scary in London too xx
Please there are way better stocks to invest in than luxury designers lol
Definitely! But I personally believe in the power of diversification-- and Hermes stock is just one of the stocks I invested in the luxury shopping category xx
So instead of being exploiting by hermes, you are benefiting from their exploiting others 😂. Good thinking
