And moderm estimates of the Persian Army there actually are projected somewhere between like 70k and 300k. The movie is more legend than fact, but it's still an amazing feat.

Everyone is pampered with supermarkets, cell phones, computers.. these people fought for everything they had, worked harder than almost anyone today does. Farmers today have it a lot easier than the farmers of their time.. atleast tractors, seeders, combines and the like exist to harvest our food. The people then only used sickles and scythes and a stout back.

in at least ancient history and medieval i taught my teachers things and they didnt know what to do with me because i already knew everything i have a lot of knowledge of several ancient civilaztions such as greece(its poli or city states), rome, egypt,babylon the picts, celts, syrians,hittites and onward for example did you know thr ancient minoians those that lived on crete are believed to preformed ritual cannibalism on children
The battle was actually fought with 300 spartans and 1,000 normal foot soldiers but the spartans held the point while more and more foot soldiers fell back to protect their families and homeland. I think there was 10,000 persians i forgot what their number was.
Just seen the whole movie (Id only ever seen the very beginning) I was disappointed of how they went out but at least they went out fighting... I guess they had to send word back that they'd died in order to get the 300,000 army to finally go to war with the Persians! Make no mistake, tho, those initial 300 took out THOUSANDS just by themselves! Great inspiration!
