Loved the bit about how we'd be in Zion now if WE were obedient.
    To quote Joseph from Legacy:

So this has been bothering me a little bit.
I don't know if I took this the wrong way or not, but when you were talking about repenting, I don't feel that it is wrong to repent about things that you struggle with daily. I have been working awfully hard to not think evil thoughts about people that are hard to get along with in my line of work. I am not used to repenting about the simple things in life that I keep failing, but I feel it important for help to overcome anger. I look at heavenly father as someone who desires to know the challenges of what we each go through daily. Having a good day and a positive attitude is important to me. I almost feel like there is supposed to be a correct way to pray and I feel like I am not praying correctly. I want an honest conversation with God, and that is usually when I am in bed and can talk to him longer than a minute. So did I understand you incorrectly on this!

“One like unto Moses” is a title like Elias. Multiple men have been referred to as that. Jesus himself claimed to be the one like unto Moses in 3 nephi. We do not have a type in the scriptures where God uses a immortal being to lead his people. He uses mortals on this side with the help of immortals from the other side. The servant from Isaiah will be a mortal man leading the people as one like unto Moses. Under the direction of Joseph smith and Jesus Christ.

Gifts can definitely be corrupted (as noted, if you consume them on your lusts) but seeking them is righteous. 100% agree though that coming to know God is where everything stems from, and without knowing Him it’s all in vain.

I've never heard anyone suggest that Joseph himself would return to finish his mission, and I feel like this quote says otherwise:
Although David was a King he never did obtain the spirit & power of Elijah & the fulness of the Priesthood, & the priesthood that he received & the throne & kingdom of David is to be taken from him & given to another by the name of David in the last days, raised up out of his lineage. (Joseph Smith, at the Temple, as recorded by Wilford Woodruff Journal, 10 March 1844)(in Ehat and Cook, Words of Joseph Smith, pp. 331) also found in Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 339)

We are counseled to keep spiritual experiences sacred. Just because we haven't heard of certain miracles being performed doesn't mean they aren't happening. I think many members of the Church are seeing miracles and gifts of the Spirit in their lives.
I appreciate your zeal in study and your respect of the Prophet Joseph and your desire to cry repentance. Joseph is the Prophet of the Restoration, and we hold him in great reverence. But we have a prophet today that we are to follow. If the things you are sharing are true and essential, we would be hearing them from Pres. Nelson. I think you are looking somewhat beyond the mark with your interpretation of scriptures.
I am also wondering where charity or the love of Christ would fit in your discussion. If we emphasize knowledge without charity, we become too judgmental of ourselves and others, especially those who do not have the knowledge and covenants that we do. Witbout charity, we stray off the path. The scriptures teach that the Spirit will speak to our minds and our hearts. If we emphasize one or the other, either thoughts or emotions, we get off balance.

40:51 the war of Armageddon, I thought began with the death of Joseph, or Moshiach ben Yosef. We obviously still have apostasy and many maintain the use of the Book of Mormon for at least awhile. But yes our traditions and ignorance among even the mainstream are like Canadians, it would take an additional hundred or so years to awaken from tyranny and bondage. It’s like today many bend the knee to secularism and think they are as Joseph or Daniel when they simply have become as the Egyptian or the Babylonian. Hence the ongoing restoration. Right now is a major awakening.

A key part of repentance is prioritizing our problems. Once a person decides to follow God, Satan's best tactic is to keep them busy working on less harmful things, like a medic putting a bandaid on the pricked finger of a patient whose detached leg is quickly causing them to bleed to death. Tourniquet the leg, then worry about the splinter. Or, as Jesus put it, worry about the beams before you worry about the splinters (see Matthew 7:3). I am no fan of Harry Potter, but I suspect that overindulgence of soda has caused much more harm to society than Harry Potter. Anticipating pushback, I'll say this: While the little things are the big things, that description is more about our own lack of judgment, not the actual bigness or littleness of problems. For Jesus, the little deviations in the weights used by the moneychangers were a big enough problem that they justified building and using a scourge to violently drive them out of the temple.

I know it's destroying our "temples" Do you have any suggested reading that might more clearly show how the Lord wants us to care for our bodies. There are so many interpretations of the word of wisdom, honestly, I think most of them are just interpreting it to fit the narrative they want so they can continue to do what they've always done. Is there any definitive writing that just lays it out? I'm afraid most of the country needs it.

Eat real food only. If man touched it, like turning sugar cane into refined sugar for example, then it becomes bad for you. Anything refined strips the nutrition and fiber from a real food source. Read your ingredient labels if it comes in a box or can. Don't put weird ingredients into your body. Fast food places also are awful - convenience is killing us! Cook your own food from scratch.

    • @TheYgds
      @TheYgds Год назад +1

You're always going to get different information on this from different people. The only thing I can contribute is that the Word of Wisdom is not a weight loss diet, or instructions on how to become healthy, except in the broadest terms. I stopped seeing it as a "temporal commandment" a long time ago. It is given for our temporal salvation, but it is not a temporal commandment. It uses apocalyptic and temple language at the end, and pre-ambles with cautions against conspiring men in the last days. I would, instead, investigate the typological word-links it forms with Isaiah, the Temple ceremony and other scriptures. Think upon what each of the different prohibitions and allowances represent. Ask yourself questions like "what does meat represent?", "what does meat represent and why are we to partake sparingly?". Of course, continue to follow the prescribed prohibitions of the Church, but I would stop looking to it for advice on becoming healthier. The clincher in changing this interpretive framework was a graduate thesis performed at BYU (iirc) that set out to see if there was any benefit from using tobacco as a poultice for treating bruises. It found tobacco does absolutely nothing to treat bruises.
Modern understanding of nutrition shows that we eat far too many calories in Western Diets. There is also old data that showed that people who were more likely to be obese, also had a lower basal metabolic rate per unit weight. There are individuals who do not start losing fat till their calories drop below 500/day. Some of us are in that group, like myself. In order to maintain a figure that's normal requires that I eat around 1500 calories per day and engage in very strenuous exercise for at least 2-3 hours per day. I also have to remove all carbohydrates and most fats from my diet, I eat pretty much nothing but protein and fibre. That keeps me at a pretty lean 210 lbs at 5'8". This is in contrast to the Word of Wisdom, which prescribes the use of grains as the "staff of life". Any variance from this program results in rapid weight gain, and various negative health problems (gout, cystic acne, heart palpitations, edema, etc).
Find what works, and stick to it. Keep the prohibitions stated by the Church, but treat the Word of Wisdom as prophecy. It think that will work much better, it has for me.

I have a comment about Harry Potter and other literature that talks about magic and evil. The Harry Potter books are at their foundation an illustration of0 the fight between good and evil. Much of the evil presented in the books is apparent in our day, and readers see that. The evil in Harry Potter targets children to a large extent; does that sound familiar? Readers feel motivated by the books to also stand up and fight evil. Harry rejects the evil, in the end destroying the wand that represents the most powerful magic. If we are going to reject literature based solely on the vehicle the author chooses for representing basic themes of human life, then I think we are going to get in trouble. Are we going to reject The Lord of the Rings with its types of Jesus Christ, just because it has magic in it? A school district in Utah has banned the Bible in elementary and middle schools because some passages are not appropriate for children. Are we going to throw out The Book of Mormon because it talks about burning and raping people and torturing them to death? Evil exists, and I believe it's important to communicate that.
Also, "ascension" (and other terms like "frequency" and "vibration") are New Age terms. I think it can be helpful to understand how some people use these terms so we can find common ground when discussing truth. However, the only use of the word "ascension" that I can find in the Gospel Library is in reference to Jesus Christ ascending to heaven after His resurrection. I think it might be better when discussing the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ to use the common vocabulary used in the scriptures and by the brethren.

Fun fact: Sterling Van Wagenen the director of the 2013 endowment videos was convicted of Child molestation in 2019. He plead guilty and is serving time. The Church knew about his behavior years before the movies came out. The prophets must have shut out the spirit when they called him to that job.

There was once a man who felt troubled about his world and wrote a book about it. Well that wasn't too bad until he went crazy making his trouble into everyone else's trouble. He went about for the next twenty years doing this to everyone until, when he saw he was not going to get his way, he killed himself. That man was Hitler.
Do you know Brother Luke that I tell you this in love?
Do you know the accusation presented as "fun fact" is really a half-truth? (i have read it for myself) Don't you realize you've been presenting in a self degrading ex-mo-troll & paste style? (not flattering) Don't you think if you really believe you have found a better way that you should preach it in a *positive* manner? Wouldn't God expect that if it is honestly your conviction? Don't you understand it is *negatively* self-deprecating for you to throw mud on someone else's faith? Don't you really want to show us the best of yourself? I challenge you Luke to find your beautiful potential ! Best to you brother!

@@rconger24 ,...The sad fact is, your 100% fake cult of mormonism is nothing but a manmade fraud. It is the false manmade religion of the accursed of God, of the spiritually dead and blind, and of the vessels of wrath and the brute beasts made for destruction.

LDS and the Joe Smith Blasphemy have been exposed for what it is. The good news is that LDS is dead but Jesus lives!
The great LDS Exodus has been caused by the mass exposure of mormon history and origional doctrine to the common mormon. People across the globe now have access to data never before available. People are thinking and not just accepting a 'feeling' prescribed by a church. The LDS faith is a dying artifact of an early American culture of greed, deception and criminal activity. It lingers today as an example of how Satan's work on Earth can hold captive educated people in a family/social polytheistic cult. Joseph Smith developed doctrine which fooled thousands into believing they too can be a god and control your own planet. He said that the god we worship was once a man like us but because he was a good mormon and he became the god we now worship. Smith was a known liar and story-teller. He had a "seer stone" which he said gave him power to find treasure. Smith was a convicted swindler who decided he was entitled to marry 34 women, of which 2 were 14 years old. Smith attempted to print his own money, build his own army, and declared himself a king. After being wanted for treason against the United States, Smith was killed in a gunfight; not quite the “martyr” LDS declares. History, logic and wisdom have destroyed the LDS faith. As mormons have more tools of education and access to the actual historic record - not just the LDS revised and approved version but the origional mormon historic record, LDS practitioners are simply walking away from a cult.
American folk religion and con artistry are sticky; - wisdom is the solvent. Joseph Smith was a con artist who fabricated a snake-oil folk religion into a self-serving, ego-feeding, lust filling cult. Smith fed his lust, greed, and ego and it continues to do so for the LDS leadership today. Now that there are open volumes of data available for inspection, the LDS faithful are holding the leadership accountable and asking questions. The Book of Mormon has been exposed as to what it is; a prop for a con. There is no real or actual evidence to shore up the frail story and geography of BoM. There is no DNA evidence to support this Jew Indian Theory of theirs. Ironically, the best evidence against the BoM are all mormon sources and doctrine. The history vacuum plaguing the LDS faith cannot be filled by revelation knowledge from a prophet or a mormon's testimony; God does not leave us blind. We must call the LDS church what it is - a criminal enterprise began by a con man that continues today.

If you two were born in India you would be saying how amazing Hindu gods are, or if you were born in Saudi Arabia how amazing you feel Allah and the prophet Mohammad are. You were born with access to the lds religion and what a miracle it just happened to be the right one and all the others wrong haha. Funny how people all around the world think this.
The BoM is clearly fictional. Look at the names used in this 'ancient' book and how they are the same names if friends and acquaintances JS knew in his day...what an amazing coincidence.
Anyway, pretty sure your whole religion is make-believe/made up with secret handshakes to get into heaven and cult aspects like the 'second anointing' and all that...but how you don't drink alcohol and work hard is to be admired.
