Thank you for everything you do, Sandi! I love that i can watch your vlogs with my 10 year old daughter and you're "safe" to watch. And the way you explain everything that is happening, even down to how you prepared in case you were short on feeder space, just makes you feel like a friend who is including us in your daily life. I also look forward to your insta-stories which i can count on every day, without fail. I look forward to your vlogs like i would look forward to a conversation with a friend. You're amazing and your effort towards your vlogs and stories is very much appreciated by those of us who need a little escape from our own life, even if just for a few minutes. Thank you Sandi. 💙Megan
Megan, u described this vlog perfectly !! I also watch with my grandson and daughter. They both raise steers and meat rabbits for 4 H. This is the perfect channel for them to watch and learn from! Thanks!
I've never seen this channel nor do I know why it was recommended but dayum this girl motivated me to get sheeeit done, seeing her work there all by herself and with a smile. Super cool, nice production :)
@Element 406 From a biological standpoint, probably just doing what feels good with whoever puts up with it. I've seen it often in many species, including Fluffy and Fido.
Sandi, i am impressed as I watch your videos. You have a great system wherevyou much of the tasks alone or with minimal help. I have said i know almost nothing about sheep and how they are raised. However you have taught me a lot. I'm not one who embraces technology, but the system you use save so much time and not have to write it manually. Great job. Thanks.
Thanks so much! This system took me a while to use as much as I do now... I so not technically inclined (ask my family...lol) but its been a game-changer now that I use it so much!
So funny...i was watching one of your videos at break time at work. My boss walksby. Backs up. Asks WHAT are you watching? Just some sheep. Now he looks at me weird sometimes. Love these sheep. And Sandi. Such a hard worker you are🐑
Sandy, don't change anything about your videos, they are fantastic. You and Mark do an awesome job. I saw breeding video and went "ooh boy", and you did and amazing video.
I absolutely love this video! I think you could run a very successful tinder for Ewes and Rams! Lol!! Can’t wait to see all the beautiful lambs that are being made now! Happy Breeding, it is hump day and all! Haha! 💗💗💗
This is getting me excited for my own sheep breeding group, my ram is going in end of nov, just feeding the ewes up a bit. Can't wait to see bouncing Shetland/shetland crosses in the spring :)
Not looking helps at dipping time, too. Ours would just stand there, staring at us, as if to say "what are you looking at, you're not watching me take bath". So we would turn our backs and they would jump in one after another. Sheep can be strangely self-conscious. :)
Just a tip if you put raddle/ paint on the rams chest its way more efficient than spraying individual ewes and the paint rubs off the tup on to the ewe when bred
This whole video was hilarious 😂. They are an "eager" crew. Literally cracking up...."everyone just calm down" and "popular". Eeeeeeeee can't wait to see the babies ❤️😍. But this was great! Love is Def in the air. 🙃😂🤭
I know nothing about sheep breeding, but I attended Texas A&M back when it was all military and all male. We didn’t get paint on us, but otherwise it reminds me a lot of a weekend pass!
I think back in the late 70's early 80's when we raised sheep here in Iowa we put red paint all over the Buck or Ram if you prefer, chest area and check daily for the red on the Ewe's backside and remove from group after couple of days to make sure they are bred at least once if not more. We raised Suffolk mainly and some Montadale, both excellent breeds.
Sandy, I have something to say and I really hope that you will read this. I listen to a program about horses God horse plus heroes. And they have a number of other programs about rescuing horses rehabilitating them and then rehoming them. They ran into similar issues when they were wanting to show. I removals and surgeries on their horses that needed to be done. And so they opened up a new program where they can show all that gory stuff to those that wanted it. It's called horse plus vets. And now we can watch all that gory stuff. If we like to watch it. You may want to call him and ask him what they did to be able to have a channel on RUclips that is not censored. I hope this helps some. I do enjoy watching your program when you're lambing. Have a good lambing season. I'm looking forward to it.
Thank you for all your beautiful videos. How do you make time to edit them and post them in the middle of lambing?! Your conception rate is amazing, mesmerizing, inspirational... I want to be like you one day lol! Great sheep!
Listen to Mo Pitney. Great music and Jason Isbell. Also, it cracks me up to watch the sheep. We have a cow calf operation try to breed everything natural. Trying is the key word! We not your videos a lot! Good luck with the breeding! God Bless U and your family!!
@Mel Hawk There is no "fleece" on a hair sheep. The hair grows out to only a couple inches or so, and in the spring it sheds off. It's more like dog hair. How would you even begin to wash it and card it? It would be like trying to wash a German Shepherd's hair. I can't imagine it would ever spin well, because it doesn't have a crimp or the length that a wool sheep does.
@Mel Hawk Also higher disease resistance, super hardy, can finish on grass without grain, no tail docking, 3 types of fiber, more mild flavor, tons of milk if you want to milk them, and comes in a polled variety! You can't go wrong. :)
It’s four AM... how did I get here? I was watching a vet clinic video before bed, and now I’m subscribed to a magic shepherd lady? The sheep noises have awakened my border collie. She is staring a question right at me; where is our new flock?! Are we farmers now, human?!? I don’t know, Parker... lemme watch a few more videos.
You should try raddle on the tups. Here in England we use a thick paint for the rams chest and change the colour every month so we know when the sheep will lamb depending on what colour she has.
Sandi - you need to come up with some type of electronic device that can be put around the rams neck and will register the date, time and RFID code for each ewe they breed!
@@SandiBrock Hi Sandi, I'm actually working on a camera system that can automatically identify mating ewe and rams and save their mating pictures. So you can just look at the pictures to make some notes on who mounted on who. I'd love to discuss this with you if you are interested, please shoot me an email at 'shuze at knittlabs dot com' if you are interested. I'm based in Toronto.
I would try using raddle powder mix with vegetable oil n it last a week no pain for the rams and you definitely know who has been bred the spray paint can dry up in a day 👍
My Lord those are some thirsty Rams...but I guess they only get so many chances in a year, can't say I blame them for making the most of it. Lets hope you have 100% pregnancy rate!

Get hair sheep. They self-shed their hair in the spring. It's so much easier than shearing.
Easier, yes. But doesn't bring in the same profit, because you have no wool to sell.

You could also put a strap on the ram with a crayon of some colour attachted to it. Then you clearly see if the ram has mounted the ews.
We dont have this many so ours just go out in the feild with the ram lol pretty cool system though
