    succeeding in standing on such a board is already a challenge, succeeding in taking off is another challenge which requires a very good technical and cardio level

      I was in the same rut until Type 2 diabetes woke me up. Low carb eating has helped me greatly, dropping 30 pounds when combined with walking.

      You can see he's got something hanging around his neck, so probably a cell phone or some small audio recorder, and then he just syncs the audio up with the video from the drone later.

    Too expensive for us in developing country.
    We still put priority in affording for life, such as everyday food and education fee for children.
    But one day, I really dream that I can go to the beach for wind foiling or do surfing, much more time for this healthy outdoor activity.

      It's got like a single fin and then a small wing or foil as they're called attached to it. It's essentially the same as an airfoil on a planes wing and creates lift in the water the same way a planes wing does through the air. Just think of the water as really thick air. That's why the board rises up, as the foil is lifting it. But the water needs to be going over the foil fast enough for it to create lift. The same way a planes wing does or it'll stall and fall out of the sky. Or in this case the board sinks back down to the water. Anyway, I hope this helps you understand how it works. Or just search it on youtube. I'm sure there'll be plenty of vids showing the bottom of the board and explaining how it works.🙂

      The bumps are probably averaging about 10-15 mph. You can go faster by turning back and forth

    So what happens if you fall off that thing out there dude? Does it stay afloat while you try and climb back on? And how do you get it going again?

      The board floats and you climb back on and try again, and again, and again, and again... lol

      The swell of the waves have energy lifting the foil as it speeds along.

    huh silly question from a non foiler/kitter/surfer... but wouldn't something like a wingsuit be useful in such a situation ? I wonder if you could orient your body in a way where you body (and wingsuit) is generating lift .. it would have to be designed orthogonally to a skydiving wingsuit I think... but I feel like it could work

      The wind and waves normally travel upstream here, so paddling back isn't too bad. It's easier to get upwind with a wing, though.

      Gong Foils are reasonably priced. Plus they're proven by multiple foil discipline world champ. Get in the water and foil already!

      I live on the gulf (between Houston and Galveston) and foil 1-2 times a week. You can always pump foil or wing foil when you can't down wind.

      Correct re: wind and swell. But having the wind at your back helps a bit too, as would going against the river current.

      no. sup foiling is harder than wing foiling. you need really good balance to paddle a board that short enough to get up on the swell.
