I spoke with Roderic Knight, who recorded lots of korafolalu around 1970 in the Gambia. He loves Madis playing a lot and is curious why Madi wasn't mentioned to him when he was in Gunjur back then, because he is obviously such a good player. Was Jali Madi living somewhere else in 1970?
@@fadenyaba8650 that’s what surprises me too before I met him. Within the griot circle he is well known amongst the elders. But the younger ones don’t know him and Madi is one of the finest Kora players in the country. I was introduced to him by one of my Kora teachers Bunja Konteh who is a grandson to Alagie Bai Konteh. Could you please ask him if he has any recordings of the Late Alagie Mbaye and Kausu Kuyateh.
@@fadenyaba8650 yes he lived in Gunjur all his life I could say. He was part of The Gambia National Troupe and he was the Kora player for the late Banna Kanuteh.
@@JailBaiMadiSusso Roderic did work a lot with the Suso family back then, mainly with Nyama Suso and Sunto Suso. I love Nyama Susos mamadu masina, but Madis is also still so good, even though he was far from his prime in 2021. So, now I am curious - who are you and where do you live?
♥✨amazing flow

Baraka ba! 🙏
@@fadenyaba8650 You’re welcome. I promised you that I was going to upload it.
@@JailBaiMadiSusso Yes, and you did. This is like a birthday present
@@fadenyaba8650 really? And interestingly, today is my birthday as well. 😊
