Honestly, I've heard hundreds of ghost and horror story audios by many channels in the last few years, but something about the way you narrated this particular one made it seem so convincing, it was almost real. I think it's because instead of just narrating it as if you are reading a story, your delivery is very sotto voce; it's as if you're sitting at a table in a bar or restaurant with a friend talking over a drink, and relaying a story about a mutual acquaintance that you know you really shouldn't be telling. It's very lowkey and quiet as if you're afraid someone will overhear you, and also that you know what you're saying sounds as if it's quite unbelievable. It was so utterly convincing that, really, if you ever submit an audio for an audition to narrate a book for an author, USE THIS! You are really at the top of your game here.
I know this is long, but I really just had to commend you on this. I think it may be the most convincing story you've done.

Thank you, @wmnoffaith1! This is probably some of the best feedback I've ever had. Every now and again people complain about the reading (too fast, too monotone etc.) but you *get* what I'm trying to do! I've never really considered trying to narrate professionally. I enjoy this channel too much 😀
Honestly, though, I am always amazed at the writers and writing of this time period. The intimacy you speak of is all there in the text.

@@EnCryptedHorror Well, I think I do understand what you are trying to do. I am not a narrator, but I have given many, many speeches (aargh) and i know about grabbing an audience. And you're right, the intimacy IS in the text, but a lot of people would just read it straight as if it's an essay. Your reading here is intime, private which is very difficult to achieve when it is you talking to yourself through a microphone, and it comes through. Really brilliant.
And I agree with you about the writing. The language is so beautiful in these stories. These days, language is becoming more and more strictly utilitarian, and less expressive. As for narrating professionally, I don't see why you couldn't do both.

@@EnCryptedHorror I’m very surprised. Until you mentioned the copywriting in our correspondence recently, I’d assumed you were a professional voice actor! You really are extraordinarily good at it, certainly a huge string to your bow if you ever consider a “portfolio career” - although, I have to say, your voice is particularly suited to this sort of subject matter. Which is odd, because it’s quite the opposite of horrific - or is that the point?

These stories flow so much smoothly than many stories written now. Your narration is perfect!

When I first heard your name, I thought you must be a pretentious hack to have such an overblown nom de plume.
I was so wrong! You may be the best narrator I've ever heard and your original writing is spectacularly, stupendously good.
Plus the competition is very stiff so it's difficult to stand out. There are other voices I love and other writers I enjoy, but none of them combine narration and originality in one package to the extent you do.
I especially like the fact that you can swing from dark comedy to poignant drama, change genres and still retain your prodigious talent. I never mind waiting for the next revelation.
Everything you write feels as though you lived it. Years ago I decided to be authentic rather than popular, no money in it for me, but you feel like a fellow traveller. You're a comfort to a mostly botched life.
I'm afraid you'll disappear and alas I have no money to send you, yet.
I'm waiting for my Dad's third and final wife to die and free up a family trust for his heirs. There's an old saying that he who robs his heirs will never rest. I hope it's true. 🤔

I have advertised Your channel on another channel, very similar but very different! A paradox, but it’s not competition because you are very unique! I did this as a way to say sorry for those extremely long Boring messages, I have recently put two and two together! 💡Basically I take something called Promethazine which is an antihistamine, However there is a sleeping pill and it can also be used as a sedative In a smaller dose, (Completely unaddictive) I get mine from my doctor but it can be bought over-the-counter! I realise that as I listen to your stories, A lot of the time at night, I love you reading to me- instead of reading a book! It helps me sleep and sometimes when I take the pills, it’s under the influence that I write those messages and it blocks my awareness of what I’m doing.... I won’t do it anymore!🦋💎🦋

A warning to those that use stories to help them sleep. This one contains a piercing scream in the middle that badly startled me as I had just drifted off...not cool 😒

Sorry Shell. I also use stories to drift off to, and I'm sorry to say things like that don't bother me. I'll put a warning up on all my videos from now on, as it's the kind of thing I do put in there.

@@EnCryptedHorror A warning for a scream like that would be helpful hahaha. I know you use sound effects, I think I commented when I first found your channel that I was a little wary as I do listen at night when trying to get some sleep. I use headphones as I also listen to delta wave binaural beats sometimes. I've listened to nearly all of your stories, most more than once, and never had an 'experience' like that. You got my heart racing and not in a good way! 🤣 You have a very soothing, calming voice and help me nod off a lot of the time. Do you listen to yourself to help with sleep? Hahahaha. I hate hearing my own voice...I sound like a twelve year old! 🙄
