Nah when you've played and understand the game more it makes sense. Think about it - once you've released the rock, it's all down to the sweepers. Whether they sweep one second to the next could make all the difference in the outcome of the shot. You're also judging two separate factors when it comes to whether or not a rock needs sweeping - weight and line. Those two calls may conflict sometimes. Also there's always a plan B, plan C and plan D if the shot you initially wanted isn't going to happen, so the skip has to communicate to everybody that they're going for another outcome on the fly. All this adds up to a significant amount of tension as the rock slides down the ice, and that tension is manifest in the screams and yells of the players.
It's also a habiy developes in club-play, where during any game there will be two or three other sheets with games ongoing so you have to yell over the other skips as well as yell over the rumble of the rocks sliding down the ice and the clashing of rocks into each other. It doesn't come through on TV but in a curling club the noises of curling can actually be pretty loud. Everybody's trying to yell over that.
