- Opening in L.A. and NYC this weekend is director James Kent’s Testament of Youth. The film is based on Vera Brittain’s First World War memoir of the same name and stars Alicia Vikander as Vera Brittain and Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington as her fiancé, Roland Leighton. As the film progresses you see the characters' youthful dreams shattered by the onset of war and the demolition of a generation due to WWI. It’s a powerful look at the First World War and I recommend checking it out when you can. Testament of Youth also stars Taron Egerton, Emily Watson, Hayley Atwell, Colin Morgan, Joanna Scanlan, Alexandra Roach, Jonathan Bailey, Anna Chancellor, Nicholas Le Prevost, Nicholas Farrell, Dominic West and Miranda Richardson. Last week I landed an exclusive video interview with Kit Harington. While I’ll be posting what he had to say about making Testament of Youth this week, today I’ve got him playing “Save or Kill”. If you haven’t seen it yet, the game reveals which franchises, characters or bands someone would choose when pitted against another of equal value. Han Solo or Indiana Jones - If you were told you could only save one and the other would be erased from existence, who would you pick? In today’s extended edition of the game, you can watch as they’re forced to choose.

Just when I thought I'm gonna like him more after he chose Star Trek, he blew it with choosing HP over LOTR. I mean, who does that? You know nothing Jon Snow.

People are complaining that he chose HP over LOTR, but the truth is most of people make that same choice. So...Just watch the other videos.
+GOT ME I can't speak for most people but the argument itself is kinda stupid since the specified this was a way to showcase his personal likes/preferences. Now if they'd asked about which had a bigger impact on the fantasy genre it would be another case. Honestly i could not decide either way since i love about Lotr that it's a whole new universe with a complete background (what i also like about asoiaf only that the background there isn't as gap free) but i usually imerse myself with the HP verse more often since despite also having bad things happening it's a lot lighter than Lotr.
And most other people choose LOTR ❤ I would choose Lotr over HP like 10000%

+cc22ful Not true. It would feel weird, but I would 100% choose LOTR. Using the same strategy as Mr. Harington, I could NOT live without LOTR. Living without either would be awful, but LOTR is my life.
+cc22ful Nope, not every person. First of i love both very much but realistically Lotr had a way bigger impact on the fantasy genre than HP. Sure Rowling created a whole world but she also assimilated a lot of it (creature wise and some cultural quirks like flying broomsticks and pointy headwear) from existing folklore/myth. Tolkien created a whole new universe with it's own creation myth/ pantheon, creatures, languages, genealogies, even the things he took from existing lore he adjusted to make it his own.

Spielberg has more range and Scorcersse's movies are more the same tone so it comes down to having more variety and a better experience at the cinema in my opinion.
