It’s awesome that you chose this performance. 1st, this was in Czechoslovakia right after the Soviets left after 40 years of occupation. The Soviets wouldn’t allow rock n roll as it was considered subversive. The posters for the concert were printed as such “ The Soviet Tanks Roll Out And The Stones Roll In”! It was such an amazing experience of freedom! And, the Stones played the two concerts for free! As Keith Richards said about the fall of the Berlin Wall, “ Just like Jericho, it was rock ‘n roll that tore down that wall!”

It’s so fascinating to consider that someone’s job in life is music, acting, visual arts. So few are Stones level of success.

The Steel Wheels tour 1989-1990, the last tour in which Bill Wyman plays bass. It opened in Philly, and at the start of this song, they blew a “50 amp fuse”. I had never heard 65,000 people gasp and hold their breath simultaneously. It took less than a minute but the crowd went nuts, when Keith picks up at the exact place, awesome!

Studio engineers love the fact that Charlie keeps the snare hits & hi-hats hits separate.

Probably helps mix in a bunch more top end on the snare without boosting the hats!

Saw them in concert twice. Never been to a concert where about 100,000 fans were totally exhausted when they finished their set.
Keith Richards broke a string and replaced it as he continued to play and smoked a cigarette while he did it.

@@Beldvlmnt It was around 1974 or so in the Buffalo Bills Stadium. I was amazed at that time, to hear that they brought the entire complex stage set with them in 14 tractor trailers. I took 900 slides of the performance as I was right at the fence at the end of the stage runway, I sold them for a tidy sum and sadly don't have even one slide of the event. The Atlanta Rhythm Section opened for them at the Buffalo concert and pissed off a lot of the fans. They opened saying that they dedicated this concert to THE GREATEST ROCK AND ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD---Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I really like this track because it’s a real crowd pleaser. I believe it’s from the Tattoo You album. There are two other tracks I really like from that album, first is Slave and second is Waiting On A Friend. You have to hand it to Mick he is an entertainer and knows how to play the crowd, but for me Charlie Watts is definitely the one I watch because his drums keep the band so tight. I could watch the Stones perform any day of the week.
