I have really come to love this guy's professional wisdom. His live TV show does not justice for his actual ability to educate and coach people. I love this format WAY better!
totally agree with you!
Same here.
Absolutely agree.
I agree. I like the personal touch. And the transparency.
I love him too . I know a lot of people hate him and think he’s taking advantage of ill people for views 🤷🏽♀️.
Thank you so much Dr Phil👏 God bless you 🙏
Who’s listening in 2023? This man is Godsend.
Just discovered this podcast it's quite enlightening!
Better alone than being with toxic person/s.🥰
You feel at peace! 😌
Dr. Phil, you have NO IDEA how much you help people when you talk. You have silenced so many voices inside my head. Thank you so much. You're amazing.
💯✌️
This is a life-changing session for an entire society that really, really needs it.
Gotta Luv Dr Phil.
This man is literally why I’m still breathing. He’s so insightful and supportive. I can’t count how many therapists I’ve paid in the past where I feel It was such a waste of time. Not with Dr. Phil. Every time I listen to him, there is always a positive take away!
Totally agree. I've wasted much money in my lifetime, to counsellors who have been off little or no benefit.
I love Dr Phil because he's so wise, experienced, ethical and honest. Very straight and highly caring.
He's such a good mentor.
Agreed. He is fantastic. Not every professional is the best. I imagine like any profession, only the top of the class are worth a damn. I’ve experienced a string of lousy therapists too.
The baiters and I love that term! The baiters are one by one being blocked. Not many people left lol.
I am a retired clinical psychologist & I have given many people the same advice; wonderful advice 😘
Hello.
When Dr. Phil said that all you need to do is to relax, does he mean have a designated time and place to practice relaxation like being home alone, or does he mean to learn to stay relaxed in stressful situations like being around your toxic family?
This is the reason why Oprah was drawn to Dr. Phil and why he can't be invalidated by his critics. This talk is loaded with important wisdom
My wife asked what I was watching, and I said it was about how to organise the garage to go discipline myself in it. She just giggled. She called out ten minutes later after watching the first part herself, saying she would slip into something more uncomfortable to come out and help.
One of my rules is to never place trust in someone who seeks to undermine your trust in yourself. While it stands to reason, it's important because the world is full of people who think being related to someone gives them a free pass, and a sweeping set of entitlements.
Exactly
I would invest in helping our youth.
Trusting my daughter
My children paying the price for their criminal ways.
"Stop needing people that don't need you"!
That's a good one for me to remember!! I also like the words, "being you on purpose"!!
Thank you Dr. Phil.
Thank you. It's a shame that a narcissist doesn't feel much guilt.
I know right
Well then they wouldn't be a narc would they durrr!!!
Because they are "justified" in their choices. You either serve their purpose or you don't matter. 😞
Anne Perry, you sound like a narcissist yourself.
Dr. Phil. I used to watch you when you first came out 20 years ago. I am so glad to find you on You Tube. Thank you for helping us.
OMG! Did I ever need to hear all of this. I have been in such a terrible relationship and just keep trying and it's worthless and going nowhere. Narcissism is something I did not understand but I sure do now. I've lost me but believe me after listening to Dr Phil for the last few hours, I'm going to change my life. Thank you Dr Phil! You're the best!
I release all the burdens off of me & I give myself permission to live & be happy again!!!
I love this, listening while at work. This has so much integrity.
Tegridy!
A rare multi-tasker
Same!!! ♥️
Very good one word description of the man👍
I'm guilty of thinking about things someone said to me that I should have responded to. Like tell them that is rude an don't talk to me that way. Instead I get silent . I do this because I am usually shocked someone is so clueless. Then it eats at me for not punching back. Working on getting better at that.
I also did that, & later it ate me up inside, I wish I did more back then, I know better now, I speak up for myself, especially with my family, hurt people really do hurt people God bless
Sometimes you’re just in shock, because you would never be that rude . Live and learn , don’t blame yourself.
I think as well Coco, that if you're the type of person who wouldn't say something hurtful to someone else, you're absolutely stunned when they say something hurtful to you. That's what freezes you. We're all wonderful at thinking of replies later in the day! lol! You're not alone!
@@laughingallthetime50 Thank you for that kind message. I needed it!
Me too
I’ve had a lot of problems my whole life with relationships and boundaries. Like a lot of commenters on here I agree that I haven’t ever come across any video or help that was as spot on and life changing . Dr. Phil is a very special person and does have wisdom and knowledge like very few . He’s very appreciated wether he knows it or not . Thank you dr. Phil
Loved your Theodore Quote!
Lie to a liar, for lies are his coin, steal from a thief, for that is easy, lay a trap for a trickster and catch him at first attempt, but beware of an honest man.
Thank you Dr Phil. I first saw you on Oprah’s show, then read your book “Life Matters”. It was at a difficult time in my life after I’d been in a motor vehicle accident & had sustained a serious spinal fracture. I had been told that I would never work again. I became depressed. I was solely responsible for my three sons whose father had abandoned them physically, financially & emotionally. I was in a relationship with a narcissist who took advantage of my vulnerability. Your book saved me!!! Over a period of years I got myself out of the hole I was in; recovered from the injury enough to return to Nursing (a “no lift” policy had come into force in Australian hospitals) & regained financial independence. My GP was astounded. She wanted to know how I had done it. And I told her about your book & your TV programs. She said that I was one of a few to get back in to work after such circumstances. I inspired my GP & I was very proud of myself. As scary as it was to start over, I had all of your inspirations to reflect upon to give me courage. Thank you! Thank you a million times over Dr Phil. xx
This is so important and just packed full of wisdom. I’ve been watching the podcasts and I really feel how Dr. Phil cares about people, has a mastery of the topics and he also just says it like it is. I’d rather see more of these podcasts and less of the TV show. This is where you show us who you are, Dr. Phil. And I like this version of you very, very much!
There's only one Dr. Phil. No need a pill.
Never listened to dr Phil but I know this was no mistake clicking here. Thank you
These series is a blessing to the universe. Thank you Dr. Phil.
Writing things down has always helped me out
To YOU, I would take a knee. Please don't stop anytime soon. The world desperately needs what you are sharing. Writing things down rather than ruminate on them will be life changing. I recenly terminated old toxic friendships and my cluttered rooms are next because you're right...fresh air..alpine- fresh air.
I am sending this to my daughter. Her man has made her into a lost woman. She doesn't even leave the house anymore.
We are in a pandemic Linda. Maybe she just likes hanging out w her man
♥️♥️
That is so sad to read. I am so sorry. I hope you can motivate her to get the help she needs. People do not understand the power.of.psychological abuse. It's far worse than the physical abuse. Again, so very sorry.
@@LoveyLand if she's saying she's lost then as her mother she clearly knows her daughters regular pattern of behavior enough to recognize something is amiss. Why must people be so condescending about situations they aren't totally privy to
@@ashaduplessis2772 gurrrl or maybe her moms a crackhead. We can play guessing game but news flash. Parents do not own their adult children. And parents can b bad people too lololol
I have very strong passions! I love being a mom to my 10 yr old daughter. I love horses, skiing, and animals. I love gardening, traveling, the beach, lakes, and mountains. I love nature and children. I love creating art and was a designer for 2o years but left the industry burnt out. Got my masters in education but did not like working in rigid school. Was not for me. Dr. Phil, my passions cost me money and don't make me money. I've seriously tried. I need money. I need to find a way to make money off my passions. Just feeling stuck but I won't give up.
EUREKA! Pure GOLD.🔑 Thank you @DrPhil💛
Thank you so much for doing this series!!! I had lost my vision and purpose through becoming separated from my husband of 50 years, 54 years this year, because of physiological abuse. This has helped to reignite the passion that I had for the Word of God. Nothing ever gave me greater joy than to share the goodness and mercy of God to people. I didn't think I could ever find my way back. Blessings to you and your family!❤
Dr Phil
I like and need these conversations better than your show
Thank you❤️
To illustrate what Dr. Phil is saying toward the end about passion...: Once a long time ago, we had bought a small piece of land. I would wake up while it was still dark and stare at the window in eager anticipation for the first light of day (like a little kid waiting for Santa on Christmas), so I could get outside and take care of our little hobby farm. Nobody in my family understood my passion... Years later I had the same kind of passion for a business I wanted to start and I couldn't wait for daybreak and I'd run downstairs to start working arranging flowers. I'd have to FORCE myself to take breaks. *Anyway, passions are wonderful!
Thank you, I was so alone in my thoughts and life. Couldn’t understand the cycle I’ve been subjected to so I kept on the ride. I got the insight from you to save myself
Challenge accepted, no more multitasking. So true😊 I really appreciate your work Dr. Phil!🌷 Kind regards from Germany
This series has truly helped to validate some steps I knew I had to take to rid myself of 2 people in my life who were sucking me dry. In the past 10 months I ended a very toxic friendship with a woman who is borderline personality disorder and set boundaries with an older cousin who is a covert narcissist. That relationship ended when she exploded at my attempt to set my boundaries. I pray both of those women get the help they need and I wish them well, but I could no longer allow them to drag me down. Dr Phil, thank you so much for this series. I’m going to tell my daughters about it as I believe it will help them too. ❤️
Well done 👏🏻. It ain't easy.
This has been so helpful, and the timing is impeccable. I had some major life changes that had me doing so many tasks for survival. It is time to slow my mind, to be intentional, to move from survival mode into thriving. Thank you for the series, for your service to the public and contribution to improving my mental health. So very appreciative.
I Love that Dr. Phil quoted Teddy Roosevelt. So inspiring. Don't listen to the Naysayers. Toxic People have No Place in Your Life. Say Goodbye. Live your Life.... Enjoy Yourself
❤❤❤❤❤.
Thank you for this warm and personal episode. So much of what you said resonated with where I am in my life now. It's taken me 61 years so far but I'm getting there!
I love how Dr.Phil shares this insight with the world and doesn’t charge a penny! He could easily keep it to himself, he is one of the most famous psychiatrists in the world, but he takes the time to go into detail and share and help. This stuff is truly helpful, and it feels like it’s coming from a good friend. Love it!
He’s not an MD. He’s a Ph.D.
@@tundrawomansays5067 Yes…I know…That’s why I said “psychiatrist”…not “doctor”….Not sure why you replied that…I’m a bit confused.🤷🏻♀️🙂
@@veronikfeher5311 To be a psychiatrist one need to be a MD too, otherwise it’s just a psychologist. But I agreed that Dr Phil is way better than most official psychiatrists.
I need this! I’m hoping this will help me into this year with toxic people around me
It hurts stalked 24/7 people recording your voice crazy tracking....on hole family...harm for no reason sickness to all levels
Stop talking about my garage!!! 😂 Some of this is so relatable!!!
I'm in my 60s and I'm happy to be called a girl. I've always referred to the staff in my office as 'the girls'. No one has ever taken offence thus far.
Probably because my whole attitude is one of care, respect, love and support to others.
In my experience people often focus on the wrong things. They let bullies and manipulative people get away with some really bad stuff, but then get wound up with a particularly word.
More focus should be put on people's actual behaviour, than what they say.
Love to everyone reading this. ❤️
You definitely discibed me 100%, it brought tears to my eyes. Thank-you Dr. Phil
Hey you, clean up your mind, don't carry the guilt trips, aknowledge and change them. What you give power to will have power over you.
Social circle CLEAN UP.. STOP NEEDING PEOPLE WHO DON'T NEED YOU!!!! I'd rather be healthy alone then sick with someone else.
The right one won't run away from you. Quit chasing them.
Have faith in yourself and then trust in those who earn it.
Thanks Dr.Phil
Here's to a great 2022
Best quote ever!
6 minutes in, and I already know this will be good! Thank you so much for delivering the truth and not just simply saying what people want to hear. Relaxation is the hardest thing ever after a lifetime of toxic personalities but very necessary!
Edit: This felt like a warm hug. Thank you for all that you do! This was essential. If folks apply this, they'll definitely see the positive results!
I think one needs to be cautious when making themself indispensable. You will wind up with another group of narcissists saddling up to ride you again unless you learn to create and enforce boundaries first.
I've wasted much money and time, in my lifetime, to counsellors who have been of little or no benefit.
I love Dr Phil because he's so wise, experienced, ethical and honest. Very straight and highly caring.
He's such a good mentor.
PS. Hey Dr Phil. Just to add to what I wrote earlier; you gave me the tools to save myself. I went back to Nursing; got a fantastic job in a Cardiac Unit which I absolutely loved!! It was the best time because I learned so much & grew so much; I was on a high!! I was passionate and happy & successful & was surrounded by people who were supportive & encouraging. Eventually the relationship with the narcissist ended, but that was the worst time in my life because of how these people tend to behave. xx
The best video you have ever done and I’ve followed, Fill in the Blanks. I will listen to this everyday until I have every word memorized. I have got to fix my life!!
Thanks for this Dr. Phil. I greatly appreciate your work.
I don't leave many comments but this is so amazing I have to say thank you. This is one of the best episodes ever. (in 22 years). I am 72 years young and in the throes of yet another narcissistic relationship. It seems to be a life long curse for me. This helped. Love and blessings to you Dr. Phil
This was very insightful and helped me a great deal.... ive never watched or heard of this podcast but it found me at the perfect time. wishing all reading strength and love in hard times
Thank YOU ,Dr.Phil .
I needed this series especially the last one thank you for sharing your wisdom to the public sector, Happy New Year 🎉💛🌞✌
Waw, wise words on so many levels. A keeper, so that I can relisten, and get reminded to let go and ignore toxic people
This has to be the best video that I have ever heard. It is life changing.!!!
Better to dwell in a desert cave, than to live in a house with a contentious person.

Loved it. Loved all of it.
I've been really working on this for the past 2 and a 1/2 years all of what you've been talking about.
I had to cut out most friends because they were toxic. I had to cut off relationships with both parents and most of my family. My brother I keep in touch with.
I got a good therapist.
I love Phil in the Blanks so much, it is really helping get through dealing with my ex who I do believe based of the baiter and what else I have listened to is a sociopath, I dealt with narcissist before and thats bad enough, but this what I am experiencing now is a little bit extra than that, like nothing I have ever seen and my therapist confirmed it, he is a dangerous person and he good looking, charming and charismatic when you first meet him, but seeks to destroy your life once he has got you.. This series has helped me get through in what is still looming around, but hopefully will be over soon.. I love your passion Dr Phil to help others. You're a legend
Dr Phil McGraw, you uplift me, you make me buzz and make me want to be the best 👌 I can be. Thank 😊 🙏 you. You reign.
I recognize how much effort you put into this Dr Phil. I needed the information because I have been timid and afraid of failing. I have had a serious problem making a durable decision to leave a toxic relationship. I recognize that I have been fence straddled by me. Thank you.
I've journaled and written my list for years. I don't need to remember those things because they're on the paper. I proudly cross things off as they are taken care of. The busyness of my mind is calmed so much. ❤
How do you stop needing people who don't need you? My son in law is a malignant covert narcissist that has systematically turned our daughter against every member of our family through his lies and manipulation and has her isolated from all of us. Do we just walk away and pretend we never had a daughter? How can we help her? His lies already cost her her first child and now she is expecting another. Just keep letting him get away with it? Dr Phil, please address how the parents of children who are caught in one of these dangerous relationships. Its heartbreaking and I can't find anything about this. I know we are not the only parents in this situation. Please help.
I set a New Year's resolution, but it is based on goals. I plan to be a non-smoker by 2023. I started be setting boundaries with smoking...
That’s a great start. I quit in 2021. You can do it. First couple weeks the worst- it gets easier. Just gotta hang on. My bf did it with Chantix and will power last year as well. A good while before me. I did when I was ready, I guess. I honestly still can’t believe I finally did it. I pretty much was vaping and smoking regular cigarettes. I miss it but there are many things about it I don’t miss at all and those are outweighing my fleeting cravings (happening very seldom now- almost never). Anyway- good luck. You’ll get it when you’re ready and you really can do it!!!!
@@phoebeb.332 Thank you. And congratulations to you and your bf.

Dr Phil you're truly an inspiration to me. Each morning I start listening to your talks. It's powerfully empowering. Decluttering my mind for a better future
God bless you and your family too. Thank-you for this one and all your hard work. 👋
I am blown away by this series which I recently came across while listening to other videos on Narcissism.
I used to watch Dr. Phil’s show for entertainment as few of the subjects resonated personally with me. They seemed too extreme usually.
But this series SPEAKS directly to me as one who has endured many decades of relationships with toxic family members and friends …many of whom I felt obliged to remain close to.
And now with grown daughters who are reeling with the same as they find out who they are and what they want their lives to look like.
Presently, my own 43 year old daughter is in the process of ending her marriage to a toxic narcissist, a man we all came to love and treat as a son , while being fooled by his quick, glib , controlling ways.
Suddenly, the truth is staring us all in the face. We all feel betrayed. We all feel duped. But now , listening to this series with REAL solutions, is so mind-freeing and pivotal to moving ahead without only sadness or anger filling us up.
Thank you SO MUCH Dr. Phil. I think this is truly the best work you have done and most certainly the BEST advice and explanation I have EVER HEARD (having had numerous counsellors, groups over the decades) on the subject of toxic people and relationships.
I shall share this as widely as possible and I shall re-listen to each part as daily therapy.
Thankfully, my daughter has latched onto the gravity of your wisdom also.
All the best.

Dr. Phil, I am applying what you teach me regarding relationships. Thank you!
This is such a treasure!
Thank you Dr Phil! I would much rather be alone than in a bad friendship or relationship. That includes family too!!
Thank you so much! This was so enlightening and validating! Knowledge is power. I do love myself and my self concept. I don't know who I am, though. I get out of bed because I have to, but I know why.. because nothing really is exciting. I do feel that after watching and most likely I'll be rewatching, that I know where to go.. for the most part. A good start is where I don't need to go, that my boundaries are valid.. and I don't need to explain it. I want to clear the clutter! Thank you for validating that!
This is great stuff, I think I really like Dr Phil! New hearing him.
Thank you so much Dr. Phil for everything you do.
