    Always enjoy your videos. Very helpful. Like you said, the looper is a great way of working on your timing, rhythm and getting a feel for playing with someone else.

    I'm going to try this specific loop and lick today. I have a Fender GTX modeling amp with a GTX-7 footswitch. I think it's helpful to know for new loopers to count the timing out and hit the switch on the 1 to avoid that gap of dead air at the end/beginning of the loop. Great lesson again, Jon.

    • @jonmaclennan
      @jonmaclennan  3 года назад +1

      Yeah it takes some getting used to. But songs that have just simple 3 or 4 chords in the progression and repeat over and over are perfect for looping.

    • @vindieseldouble
      @vindieseldouble 3 года назад

      @@jonmaclennan And this progression is such a perfect example. I can make these transitions on time with a consistent tone. Looping gives me a chance to try some licks over a consistent rhythm that I created myself. It's really a lot of fun. Thanks again for being so accessible. I really appreciate learning from a pro who is willing to mentor.

    Ha! My teacher told me he bought himself a looper for Christmas. I own two but I am terrible with them. Having a lesson today so he told me to bring my loopers and the manuals. Hopefully, I'll get the hang of hitting the damn button at the right time. Yes, this sounds really nice, but you really do have to time the push of the button perfectly. We shall see......

    Im probably doing something wrong or my playing sucks which is probably whats going on...just got the ditto...theres a obvious lag or dead spot in loop when it starts/ends around...theres a bit of a learning curve for me i guess not used to maybe clicking and playing etc...but i love the pedal so kool and has improved my playing...def a must have pedal...id say first one to buy...it really helps timing improv creativity etc...

      I have the exact same problem, I just bought one a few days ago. I get this half a second pause when the pedal loops to starts over, hopefully this is just a simple learning curve to it.

      What ive kinda figured out but im not a great musician i maybe explaining it wrong...but lets say ur loop is all 16th notes contious...itll sound wrong when it comes around half second glitch...ur riff works best with a pause or rest...

      You should click the pedal on one for start looping and on one after the last mesure.

      I think the topic raised in the comment by spazatron 2000 deserves far more attention in this video tutorial.
      The issue of a perceived lag & choppy transition from the end, back to the beginning of the loop is a common, fairly understandable shortcoming that is simply the result of focusing on the guitar versus the pedal when attempting to save a progression.
      Just remember that the pedal doesn't record before or after it is recording so that means you can get your rhythm down I like the metronome idea quite frankly and, while beginning a loop was never a problem for me, I did initially have the same problem when it came to the conclusion. The solution is to keep count with your feet just as many of us naturally do, begin playing your sequence a few times and start the loop while still strumming.
      Similarly, continue playing the sequence after you've turned the looper off.
      Start off with something ridiculously simple just to hear it work and once you have that down you'll have no trouble incorporating this little magic box into your daily practice.
      Oh, and it will get you laid 🤹

    this might be the best video for beginners...One problem, I struggled a bit, but finally got a decent loop on the jazz tune Summertime.. Then played the melody over the chords...sounded decent so I wanted to stop and save it....I stomped twice, the amber light came on, ready to record more! How do say DONE..save it and go on to a new loop?

    Question : when i remove the power supply wire , of course the pedal will switch off ; will the music that i have recorded be kept in the " Ditto " , or , once is switched off , i will loose everything? Thank you very much, Greetings from Italy, Patrick

      no i bought all that stuff and sold it right away they are junk. d strum and the trio, or any complicated loopers are just a bunch of bells and whistles you wish you could like but look on you tube of the reviews of people judging them and you will quickly see what i mean. i am using an old fostex 8 track and researching into a used tascam 8 track that burns cd's but i'm not buying it until i see it do a scratch track and burn it onto disc because it could be some ones headache, but i bought an interface focusrite 8i6 for 75.00 to use with a daw and my computer but all that will be later on to figure out with some help. all the people say how great it is but its is very complicated. i get most of my stuff used from others that could not figure them out or just dont have reality use for them, i like that because if its not a good thing for me, i can sell them at profit after experimenting.
