I love your peaceful life there. I will be coming to the Philippines in May. My fiancee is the farmer of the family. So in the future, we will have a garden as well. I hope it's as productive as yours.
Hi Norman if you are planning to retire in the Philippines, you can follow also this vlog "Southern Leyte Life" He can tell you all about retirement in the Phils. He is from Wells UK.
Jane u have to do the pruning of your okra, remove all the lower parts of leaves, the old ones, and you will notice after a couple of days it will bear plenty if fruits.
I remember when I was gardening in high school we have to till the soil first before planting. We used pickaxe to dig, fork to dig lower, hoe to break the soil, shovel to dig canals around the bed for water outflow, and rake to smoothen the bed. Sometimes we dug out earthworms but we leave them alone because they till the soil.
Jane sure does know how to plant and harvest. Being raised in the province this now is second to her. Love how she plants and picks what is ready for cooking. You have suck a beautiful location there. fresh air open spaces and natural calling. I also. understand about the water situation there. Lines should be deeper but once they do break owners pay for the repairs. you are smart having proper filters installed. Thank You for sharing this and keep safe there always.
Thank you my friend. Jane grew up in the province doing things like this but living in England didn't have the same chance due to lack of garden or weather. It's different here. It's so inviting to be outside so much 😊
For more Okra harvest you should prune the leaves on the lower part of the okra stems and remove the leaves that are dying or have alot of insect bites. By doing this your okre plant can produce more fruit.
Mango santol grows very big it is ideal to Plant them in awide open Space a Ng trim them every time to prevent them from being overturned by typhon and damage your house. God bless
Hello to both of you, really fond of province life,i.love vegetables as jane harvested, yummy vegetables😋😋😋law oy sa bisaya😊enjoy the province life Adam, thank you for loving our country the Phils.😊
the humming of the birds the noise of the cricket and other insect...that's what I life every human dreams...no pollution no busy noise of big city...the breeze of not polluted air..how I wish someday I can live in that kind of place..
Your vegetable garden needs better soil. You may want to mulch it with compost so it will have more yield on the veggies. If i may advice, dont let your malunggay tree grow so tall because you will not be able to make use of the upper leaves when you need it. Periodically cut the tree so it will branch out somewhat horizontal and you can reach the leaves and consume it. And for the catimon mango, i believe there is an instruction on the type of soil it should be planted on so it will produce fruits within the next 2yrs or so.
I think you have to by some medicines to get rid of those insects or bugs that eat the okra leaves ...The more it will be safe to eat and keep that okra tree healthy and also you need to trim that malunggay tree from rising up too tall because it's hazard for your backyard gates in case typhoon comes again ..
im learning also to plant fruits and vegetables. it seems you lack topping soil? i use carbonated rice hull, rice hull and cocopeat as top soil. wormcast as fertilizer. they are very cheap..i dnt know if i am right, i am a newbie. lolz! Studying hydroponics also, its a soiless gardening. i luv it!
We are pretty much newbies too my friend. Discovering what works and what doesn't but that's the fun when things grow and you learn little tips along the way. God bless you 😊
organic fresh vegetables. Guyabano is a medicinal fruit-tree from its root, leaves and fruit. It has been trusted medicine for some internal body pains, and even bone joints fracture by local people.
Its so nice to eat from your own garden and it give you a nice time to spend on. Looking great Adam!. At last we go to leyte in august after 3 years because of covid, cant wait.
Malunggay tree grows fast and I think it is better to prune it while it is not yet too high so that one will still be able to reach its leaves and fruits.
Wow..Nice life in the province. We envy you guys. We are still Spring in here and rainy and very cold. Nice vegetable garden and organic as well. Those coconut tree and mango trees in no time will bear fruit. A new subscriber here and enjoying your vlog.
Hello im a new subscriber happy to see your vlog you are living a very simple life.. very good living location simple , peaceful.. life with fresh air..
Just a comment. It's preferable to put Bermuda grass IF the grounds are not cultivated to plant veggies and fruit-bearing trees. Otherwise, the Bermuda grass will just be an expense not worth incurring. When rainy season comes, grass will grow anyway.
Hi! Adam and Jane. A fan of yours from Ormoc City. I meet you both once @ Robinson's Mall. I think that was two months ago. Our cars were next to each other @ the parking area. I was not able to say hi to both of you because I was too shy. But next time if we meet again I will surely say hi and take pictures with both of you guys. 👌I always follow your vlog. Take care always.
I am also excited to live my dream lifestyle in leyte. Not extravagant but it's mine. I can't wait to have my fishpond, livestock, my daily foods grow in my yard.

Thank you my friend and God bless you. The fence is actually much higher on the outside. The level of the lot inside was raised and naturally the ground is lower outside and slopes down the further you go 😊
just seen the British national that wreck havoc in makati on the news, he's the complete opposite of Adam who's kind and to Jane and Isabela, it only shows that in every crate there's a rotten tomatoe so we should not generalized and we should refer to a good person as a good person and not to his nationality
The movie "Jack the Giant Killer" says England's crown makes the wearer ruler of all giants. Maybe the malungay tree rises up to where the giants live, then you'll need Queen Elizabeth to go there.
Hi Adam, just a general question please. YT regarding the Philippines is very American-centric, so do you think that 1500 USD, outside of major cities, would be a realistic monthly figure to live on?🇬🇧
You can live even with less than $200 a month. Most Filipinos do. A kilo of rice costs less than $1 and that's good for 3 days. 10m³ of water is about $4 a month. If you grow your own fruits, vegetables, raise hens then you won't have to buy them in the market.
$1500/month outside Metro Manila, Quezon, Cebu provinces is enough for 3 bedroom house, eat out 3x/week, other expenses, and live comfortably for a family of 5 even.
I love your peaceful life there. I will be coming to the Philippines in May. My fiancee is the farmer of the family. So in the future, we will have a garden as well. I hope it's as productive as yours.

Hello adam, malunggay tree will grow better if you cut it,, just one meter above the soil..
Ang sarap mamuhay talaga ng simpling buhay ❤️
It looks like the malungay tree grew 40 feet high in just 6 months. I've never heard of such tree, almost like Jack's fairy tale beanstalk.
It's magical how quickly it grows my friend. Almost everyday it's a few centimetres higher 😊

Planting mango tree in your backyard is not recomended, it will desteoy your wall and flooring because of the roots..
This is a dwarf variety and grafted my friend. It's nowhere near any walls or flooring 😊
This month is not a good time to plant trees unless you water it daily.
It's a perfect time for certain trees as we get frequent rain and the ground is just right 😊
