    John those IRs are so good; I loaded up my MLC S_Zero 100 amp sim and was just playing for awhile, thinking how good it sounded, looked at the cabinet section and there was your LCFR IRs, already loaded from the last time I played and had forgotten to switch back my default IRs. The ears don't lie, man. Thanks for creating them!

    My new go to IR is a mix of your LCFR and V30 IRs (with slight phase correction) - I love it! Btw did some more IR experimental mixes off your free IR stuff and did get some really great results. LCFR with Redback does sound cool too. Thanks again.

    I feel like the V30 really does have something special, but it's only in the mids. The highs were always fizzy and "closed" sounding. The Lichtlaern sounds like the "V30 but fixed" thing that everyone dreams of. The HESU Demon is another one of those.

    Great job as always, John! You should have at least 10x the subscribers you do now. I like this speaker. It seems that the majority of V30 alternatives all focus on smoothing out the upper mid hump and by doing so end up sharing a similar, softer attack. I wonder how the Lichtlaerm (Warehouse, Mojotone, etc.) cut through after they break in themselves. As much as I've moved away from the V30, it's still a necessary evil outside the bedroom, though I have regulated them to the bottom of my 4x12's and vertical 2x12's (mixed with a variety of other speakers on top). Thanks for sharing your hard work with us!

    Great comparison, as usual!!! A lot of effort and thoughts put into these videos. I played the IRs a bit and to me, the LCFR-150 sounds very 90s metal-like. There is a certain grittiness and nastiness in the mids, that i like. It also reacts quick to palm muting over my Diezel VH4. I like it a lot and am curios about the price tag. I would like to see a shootout againt the Eminence Governor, which i also like, in the IRs at least. ;-)

    I really appreciate your tests and videos. This new speaker sounds awesome. Much wider, more balanced, and bigger sounding than the V30. Although the V30 in the sweet spot sounds more mix ready.
    I found than my Fryette P50Es needed some EQ to tame the top end to really shine, so I think these Fane/Lichtlærm speakers will really show their worth after some post EQ for a mix.

    The LCFR-150 sounds great. Not aggressive as the V30, a noticably less fizzy in the highs, but maybe overall a more pleasing sound? I still think I prefer the aggression of the V30, but there's also a reason why I'm gravitating more and more towards pairing it with other speakers, like the Creamback G12H-75. I'm getting old, John. That's the reason. There's no other excuse. I look forward to messing around with the IRs you provided.

I have a 4x12 with V30s to go with my Mesa amp, so really wanted some variety for one thing, and getting a matching cab to go with the new amp is hard to pass up. Gonna have to wait another month or so on the cab, but I'm excited. Sounded great in this demo, more balanced than the V30 which can definitely get a little shrill at times. I also thought on the clean channel it sounded much more to my taste, I've always had trouble getting my kind of clean tone through my V30 cab.

      I really like their old speakers, they don't break up in the same way as celestions and, as a result, metal tones sound cleaner, less fizzy. 122/190s for clean (especially mixed with g12/50s) through an el84 amp and the 122142+122234 mixed together for metal through a 6l6 monster (I find those older speakers really sound best when you mix the bass and guitar speakers together).

    I don’t have a good monitoring environment for final judgement, but this speaker kind of sounds like a T75 if it didn’t suck and was way more musical. Bit broader in the harmonics, and less focused than the V30. I feel like this could make it more open to tone sculpting, which means it fits the amp it was designed for as it’s a bit of a tweaker’s amp.

    It sounds great and full but there's also something I hate in the 5-6khz region.. that fizz up there.. the V30 sounds narrower... while the LCFR sounds broader with extended body but also top end.. but that's nothing a bit of EQ cant take care of...

  • @oRizho
    @oRizho 10 месяцев назад

    The LCFR has a lot of 7-10k content which adds a lot fizz, where the V30 has a steep rolloff from like 5-6k. The LCFR also has less 2.5-6k than the V30 so it has less cut in a mix. So basically these two speakers seem to have the complete opposite high end from each other.
    I would personally not use the LCFR on its own. Either go for a mix with the V30 or go with the V30 on its own

    wow, Really nice speaker, seems to have a bit of T-75 vibe which a like, on first samples sounded far better than Celestion, but with room mic, to my surprise, I liked both(BTW OC818 is amazing, I use to have two of them, I remember that Royer R121+ OC818 sounded really nice together.
    Fane produces some great stuff, this speaker is very similar to ideal metal sound that I have in my head.., reminded me governor a bit, maybe less raw and more refined and precise than Eminence(kinda like different types of beef stake: Rare(Governor) Medium (LCFR) Over cooked(V30). the fact that it handles 150 watt, and lightweight, is really impressive. I think Celestion V type has similar vibe and also lightweight. I can clearly see why you like it. BTW what's up with that FL cab behind you? Did you buy Diezel cab or it's ENGL?
    Edit. I really like speaker, went back and compared it to your governor video. Like them both equally, I guess depending on amp, cleaner refined amp+cab(Diezel
    , Mesa Mark Fryette) I would prefer Governor, for more dirty amps like Marshall, Bogner Ubershall I would prefer cleaner LCFR, for Rectifier and 5150, I guess classic combination of Mesa cab with V30
