  • So this is not a technical review of the KTM 390 Adventure. But more like 390 adventure opinion from my perspective of touring and offroading. It's what I have experienced so dont make your buying decision based on this but rather ride your own and see how it suits you.     Its been close to 2 years with Adv 390, agree with all the points. This bike is a breeze on highways, can cruise at 130-140 easily.
    But according to my riding pattern I always get a mileage between 29-33, thats on highways. But yes during offroad mileage can vary.
    The only disadvantage is the height, plastic/fiber vibrations and engine stalling at lower rpm's

    This is a very good real time review based on personal experience having used the machine for over 2 yrs. I am more inclined towards Dominar 400 for the fact that the spares are very economical compared to KTM spares.

    390 Adv may not be the most beginner friendly bike, but if you want to learn and move to higher cc (ex: 790, 890 or 1000cc +) adv bikes then i feel this is the correct bike to start, this bike forces you to learn to ride in correct rpms and maintaining momentum instead of just twisting the throttle and getting out of tough situations. Weight is actually on the lighter side. Rest all is spot on. i also think this bike needs a reverse gear :D

    177 is actually not heavy. U can still hone ur skills and manage . Just practice..xpulse..yes u ll get the lightweight etc. But while climbing up. U ll realise the lack of torque of 390..
    Spend more time..learn on this..even on bigger capacity. Techniques are diff for heavier tiger..bmw etc. One bike learning doesn't make u ride everything else easily.
    My friend is 5.5 feet and rides the 1250 like a master . Way better than me.

    I strongly feel the touring segment is matured enough and has a constant healthy growth to see Dominar and KTM come out with a 600/650cc engine. That will be a game changer in that segment. What do you say?

      Considering Indian road conditions it's impractical to have bikes with more power than a 390 adv I think

      Reliability is comparatively better than Himalayan and spare is not too costly but not cheap either.
