In 1983, in my small S. Idaho town…a buddy and I were in a record store and a hot chick walked up to us. We were in the hard rock section (Metal wasn’t really a genre yet..at least not here) looking at Dio, Scorpions, Priest, etc. and she said…”have you guys heard Metallica”? We were both looking at her and then each other and both said in unison…”what the fuck is Metallica”? She said they were from San Francisco and were heavier than anything else right now. I joined the Navy shortly thereafter and in San Diego (while in Navy schools) I saw them in concert. Yep…she was right! Seen them all over the world thanks to the military. Rock on 🤘🤘🤘

Cliff Burtons Metallica is what I grew up on with my metal head friends. I remember going to see them in 91 and nearly the entire school was going along with older kids out of school. There was a crew up about 4 little metal heads that hung out with a lot of us in the woods and Horse trails at night. They were not old enough to drive and they wanted to go to the show really bad. Getting there wasn't the problem. Anyone in the neighborhood would have taken them. It was tickets. I didn't have Tix either. But I was scalping. I wasn't worried. The day of the show about 10 of us are hanging out after school about to depart to our homes to get ready. Especially us girls. The 4 were so mad they couldn't go. We all went with different people and different sections of Nassau Coliseum we sat... Or stood. I'm running down to the floor and I feel someone pulling on my hair. Low and behold little Jimmy, Brian, Rob and Eric made it to the show. We high fived, laughed and kept it moving. Great night for us Babylon kids at Metallica.
