As far as the Frankenstein name: my philosophy is “Allowing an unimportant mistake to go unmentioned is a wonderful social grace.”
This is the internet 😆
My oh my! My wife has been stopping by the dollar store after work and buying fall decor and wooden pieces right and left! She even got some ceramic sugar skulls to paint! I will say the witches hat she bought, when she choose to paint it like the Hogwarts sorting hat! So the pieces are only limited by our imagination! You have created some wonderful artworks for fall decor too! I often give her a hard time as she leaves brushes in water and I am kinda a tyrant about brush preservation! I have some Kolinsky brushes that I cannot let anyone else use anymore as I have let others use them in the past and “lost” one when they “abused” my fine brush! Gold leaf is not easy no matter the style of application! Yours looks wonderful!
Thanks! I'm with you on brushes!
On with you too on the brushes
Rooting Tooting mad...you made my day! Sandy
Adorable!!! The gold leaf over red was brilliant 👏 👌
Thanks!
These are the absolute BEST I have ever seen the wooden plaques from DT. Love the gilding as well. I did a Santa last year, and I have never seen such a piece of nonsense. Flat, no dimension, etc. Please do the Xmas ones for us! I need art lessons. Basic. Really basic.
I'll look for them:)
Absolutely amazing! Congratulations! God bless you!
They all turned out perfect! They all looked so much better with paint and foil. Tfs, Lindsay you did a great job :).
These look amazing Lindsay!!!
Love your frankie👍🏻 all are very cute👍🏻🎃
These came out great!!! Frank is my favorite! Love that you used the wisp brush for the hair! Genius!!!! Looks amazing!!
Thanks Kerri!
I think Frankenstein's monster was adopted, and thus his last name was Frankenstein! ;-). Cute schtuff. Hope you do Thanksgiving items too!
Yes very true, so referring him to Frankenstein is legitimate!!!
So cute! I love the skull lady and her shiny gold leafing!
My Dollar Tree had NONE of these things!! They told me that they were restocking "seasonal" today. I'm headed there in a while.
Loved the monster!!
I hope they get some good stuff in!
Those are really awesome. That Frankenstein looks really good!!!! Thank you for sharing
I "love" your painting techniques! Frankie looks so real! Great job! Now to give mine a try...
Love the wood craft projects. They all look great but your monster is wonderfully spooky. You did such a great job on the sunken eyes and wild hair and the bit of red made such a difference in the overall look.
Wonderful creation! Frankie looks fabulous. Thanks for sharing it. 😄😄😄🤣🤣🤣
Faboolous Lindsay. TFS a fun project.
I need to get into town sometime soon and get to my dollar store and see what is there. These turned out really cute.
They all look great and I love them all, but I really love the Frankenstein monster. It makes me feel so much better about all my crafting screwups when I see an experienced professional have oopsies too.
Lindsay these are so SPOOKY CUTE !! I love the monster head. I bet the dollar tree will be out after seeing your video. love em all.
They are all so cute. Good tips along the way, too! Thanks!
These are really cute. You are so talented. Loved watching your process.
I love love this video!!! Dollar Tree is my “go to” craft store now as I teach to the elderly, have about 25-30 students and it fits my budget. I love these creations!! My Dollar Tree hasn’t brought these out yet. I loved how you made the skeleton dance at the end. LOL. ~ Michelle
These would be great for classes and no sanding! The quality is great too!
You do such fun Halloweenie decorating!!! My my mom always did the same - lost her way too soon... fond memories. BTW Your "Frankenstein' Monster" costumes from awhile back video was such fun
That was! Aww, you remembered:)
Loved the video and how you transformed your Dollar Tree haul, Lindsay!!
Thanks Lindsay. Awesomeness. 👍💜
Loved this :-) I have seen crafters using white glue and gilding flakes where they apply the glue to the item they want to foil and then apply a thick layer of the flakes. They then use a soft brush to burnish the flakes and get rid of the excess that can be used on another project.
Lindsey, you have "mad" painting skills! Thanks so much for posting this video!!! Janet 🤗👍💕👻🎃🦇💀
😆 thanks:)
I love these. They are beautiful x
Hi Lindsay.....these are great.....love the monster best!😘❤
I literally just got back from dollar tree and saw all these amazing art and craft stuff. I did get the Frankenstein, haunted house and the happy Halloween 1 too. I also grabbed a Halloween book and coloring book for my youngest daughter. Always so many awesome things at dollar tree. Thanka for sharing and showing us what you made. Have a great day
LOVE Halloween and LOVED 🖤 this. Soooooo cute! I think one could use glitter instead of the gold leaf too. Not sure it would be less messy, but it might be.
Totally! Or gold paint!
I love all your Halloween decorations you did today. The gold on the cameo girl was a great touch and love how Frankie turned out, and your skeleton turned out cool with your mix of colors. I think I am going to run to Dollar Tree tomorrow. :)
Have fun!
I was wondering if you could use gold embossing powder instead of the gold leaf. It would take a LOT of powder though. Maybe not cost effective. Still messy but maybe not AS messy.
@@recoveringsoul755 you can but honestly slinging gold and copper paint over res would be just as pretty I think.
So much fun!
Thanks for all the great ideas on painting the wood plaques. I hope my dollar tree gets in more skeletons. Last year i painted the black cat and pumpkin. I had the great idea to use black, sparkly embossing powder on the pumpkins eyes and mouth, it was a mess applying it but eventually turned out nice. Thanks for sharing!
Sounds pretty!
Love this thank you for sharing!
I absolutely love your painting technique, I have some of those sponges and I will give it a try, thank you for sharing you are so talented
You are so welcome
Rooting’ tootin’ !! Lol I haven’t heard that in years !!! Thanks for the laugh !!!
Omg love these!!! A few years ago my son and I decorated some wooden cut out masks from Michaels, it was so fun and we only used markers and crayons and they turned out super cute and he had a blast! Anyway great video, thanks for sharing🦇🧟♀️❤
Thanks! I loved doing projects with the kids:)
These look so nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
I love this Lindsey! You just took these dollar 🌳 cutouts to a whole new level...just wow!!!
Thanks!
Well done 🌟💗
So fun!
These are awesome!
I had to laugh when you said, "If you don't have a liner brush, just go out in your yard and find a feather." I guess that's the difference between living in a city apartment or a country home ~ no stray feathers around here and not even a yard! lol 😀 I do love your Halloween projects and all the little tips you gave along the way, eg don't use wet glue with vellum or it will buckle. It's always fun to watch your craft videos!
once again your timing is perfect! I bought a bunch of wooden $tree Halloween cutouts and I'm getting together with the grandkids to paint this weekend. I never thought of using sponges to do most of the painting. I was going through my brushes to see which ones I was willing to sacrifice! I always have some kind of sponges on hand so this should work great. I'll cut them into pieces so they can change colors to their hearts content. My biggest issue is letting them run free and not trying to control it - while trying to get some color theory in there so everything isn't some shade of brown LOL. I did buy some dollar tree tempera paints and I have clear spray and thought I should use it - you answered my question.
Gilding flakes and foil have very different finishes, the flakes are more matte & look like a historical high end picture frame, the foils are super glossy and look more like fancy makeup packaging
CUTE!
your monster turned out great, like he's holding the flashlight shining up his face from the chin
What a great way to spend my lunch break! Thanks! I am going to head there on my way home from work one day this week...this looks so fun!
It really is and you can't beat the price, they didn't even need sanding!
I love these! The Frankenstein’s ‘monster’ is amazing! 😀 I also always refer to him as Frankenstein.
Cool, I love how those turned out!
Halloween is one of the things that I really miss about living in North America. There are some people here in Germany who celebrate it, it became popular in recent years, but it's not the same really, it's mostly just a bunch of kids trying to copy what they saw in American TV shows and annoyed adults who give into it. Totally lacks that fun spirit. I really wish I could live in two places at once.
😆
so cute!
"Halloween wood crafts would be a challenge to "Dracula ", why not,his coffin is ancient." ❤🙂👍🍷🍺😀
Just awesome Lindsay.
😆
Don't know if you mentioned it. The Frankenstein would make a great Halloween mask . 😃
The last several years, instead of dressing up for Halloween, I paint a t-shirt. I'm a big Doctor Who fan. I'm hoping to draw a Weeping Angel. Look them up. They're really terrifying when they bare their teeth.
Last note. I really like you using the gold foil on the cameo. Nice touch.
That Frankenstein monster is really creepy.Dont do this at home.Childrenand adult have nightmares. So fun love IT.
Those look awesome. I think you have convinced me to not use my gold leaf. LOL Yup, been around long enough to have the real thing too. LOL I might use some in resin projects. That doesn't sound as messy.
If you are afraid of using it up the imitation stuff is cheap on amazon.
Such a fun project! Really like that Royal & Langnickle "hair" brush ("want monster" just told me I need that. hahaha). :)
It's called a "wisp"
@@thefrugalcrafter - Thanks!
I found nice R&L "Aqualon" sets of the wisps. Each set comes in either angle, filbert or flat brush shapes and each 5 brush set ranges in size from 1/4 to 3/4.
Do you have any brush shape preferences for wisp brushes?
@@bluetkats the filburt will give a more natural look I think. Or a flat. Ab angle will be tougher to control I think
If you use those flakes use and brush them in een plastic box so they won't fly around every where.
So stinking cute. You're not lying about the gold foil, but it does make it so pretty. I think what I like the best is that it won't look perfect and it has a texture. I know, I'm weird.
I'm adding this to the list of projects to do soon.
Great ideas! Love these. Do you seal them with a clear?
Yes
Enjoyed watching! These turned out really neat! TFS
Did you decorate your house with them? Where did you put them? So cute.
I put the skeleton and pumpkin in my bag window and the others might end up thete too. I don't put up all the Halloween duff til mid October cuz the clutter drives me mad 😆
😁
Can you list the "hair" brush you used on Frankie Monster? I find zen and zem and zenart. Not sure which brand is correct. Thanks! Love your painting and your energy!
It's a wisp brush from the zen all media line from royal & langnickle
I didn’t catch what you used as a backing for the pumpkins on the coffin. What was that?
Vellum
You’d never know these were DT items.
Thanks!
My dollar tree doesn't have these wood cutouts 😭😭
