      Kyle Chavis no i’ve seen the movie, i’m saying him pushing him to get the mushrooms IS reverse psychology. that’s the whole point of the scene... you didn’t have to point it out. that’s literally the only point of the scene......

    • @dawson64iscool
      @dawson64iscool 4 года назад +4

      Kyle Chavis cause the reverse psychology is a foreshadowing to when he cleverly tricks his son into being oblivious to what’s happening in the gulag, thinking it’s a game instead.

    • @dawson64iscool
      @dawson64iscool 4 года назад +8

      Kyle Chavis this is why it’s so brilliant and won so many awards, the first funny half and the serious second half are CLOSELY related. the skills he demonstrated being funny are the things that allow him to coddle his sun and protect him from what goes on. him being able to quickly make the best of the situation in the first half is what let’s him improvise quickly in the second half.

    One of the most emotionally affecting films I have seen in my 70 years on earth.....the most hurtful thing for Guido, IMHO was how the doctor later totally ignores Guido's welfare in the camp, just to exploit him again to solve a stupid riddle. The film plays with every human emotion and can surely never be bettered. It ended up leaving me not knowing how to feel, just devastating. I saw it four years ago and it still haunts me.

      This movie literally defined part of my life. It was the fist movie I show to my highschool girlfriend and she love it and we talk about it for years. Fast foward 20 years she was married to a guy that beat her and kept her under his control. He was a police officer in our local town. We start talking again, she decided to leave him and come start a life with me but he control her phone. The day I was ready to go get her at her house, this scene was the signal that I was coming for her, for her to get ready to leave. We've been living happily ever since :)

    Davvero non riesco a capacitarmi di tutti quelli che si lamentano per i sottotitoli, non rendendosi conto che era doveroso cambiare la battuta sui sette nani per far sì che avesse senso anche in inglese... io invece farei i miei complimenti al traduttore o ai traduttori che sono arrivati a questa soluzione. Tutti questi commenti denotano ancora una volta quanta poca dimestichezza molti italiani abbiano con le lingue straniere e con le difficoltà connesse all'acquisizione di sistemi linguistici differenti.

    The subtitles tried to make an English version of the riddle, but it cannot be translated properly.
    The riddle is based on the term "minuto", it means "minute" (the 60 seconds unit of time), and the adjective "minuto", that is the same as the adjective "minute" (tiny sized).
    So the riddle works perfectly both in Italian and English, for the terms "minute", but for the game of words, it can't be translated.
    That's because in Italian the riddle plays on the term "tra", which can be used both as the English "in the middle of" ("tra gli amici" means "in the middle of friends") and the English "in a " ("tra un'ora" means "in an hour").
    So, in Italian, "tra sette minuti" can literally mean both "in the middle of seven minutes" (= minute men, tiny sized people, so the 7 dwarves) and "in the time of seven minutes".
    Now you can understand it: in the original movie, the riddle says "the time you take to answer the riddle, is the answer itself", and the answer is Snow White because Snow White is "in the middle of 7 minutes" and you can answer "in seven minutes". Both answers are the same in Italian: "tra sette minuti".

      To understand it, you need a native Italian, as it is pretty tricky even in Italian.

      Actually there's a translation error. Minuto is the italian for minute, but also for little. So "fra sette minuti" means "in seven minutes" or "between seven little ones".
