    203 days (29 weeks) since i broke my ankle, clean break on my fib and i still get aches and pains today.
    it feels weak when trying to play football change of direction hurts the most and feels wobbly when pushing off on it. i think the hardest thing to get over is the mental side of the game and not wanting to re break it so pulling out of challenges and not pushing yourself to what you was once capable of

    i fractured my fibula 6 weeks ago, didnt have to get surgery thankfully, recently took the boot off that they gave me for the 6 weeks and transitioned into a ankle brace, i have tried walking and it feels great sometimes with no pain and sometimes there is pain. i have been doing ankle exercises and doing range of motion stuff that does hurt a little bit but i cant tell if thats good pain or bad pain.

The doctor told me to put 50% of my weight to start with for two weeks but feel I can do more. However did you or someone experienced that the foot got bigger each times after standing for some moments? I believe blood circulation or water retention... this is not helping me to exercise standing for long time....

    Hi.. i am from Nigeria. Thank you for the video.. am super glad to see this video hoping it will be helpful to me in time to come.. please i had an ankle injury on my right leg one month ago and the big bone (Tibia) came out of my flesh causing a big wound, while the small bone (fibula) got broken. But after the surgery the (fibula) have been fixed with some irons to keep it strong while it heals which was stitched with no visible wound but the (Tibia) was fixed back to it usual position and was stitched a little which closed only 10 percent of the wound leaving 90 percent of it opened. Because the doctor said is not good to stitch it all closed because the flesh that the bone popped out from was already dead before the surgery so he cut them off meaning i have to wait for the flesh to grow again.. please my QUESTION IS: can i do these exercise while the wound is still open and not yet totally healed or should i wait till the flesh wound is totally healed before i start this exercise? Please a Quick reply will be so HELPFUL 🙏. i am in need of the help. Thank you.

      Most people will have swelling at this stage. My advice to patients around this time is to let pain be their guide. Mild moderate discomfort is ok. Moderate to severe, then take it easier. Everyone’s individual situation will be different.

    I am at week 6 after trimalleolar ankle surgery & no putting weight on my ankle yet without a boot I can just start putting 25% of my weight on it in my boot using crutches 🩼 this week & slowly build up over the next 4 weeks.
    I am pretty sure it’s different for everybody.

      Yes weight bearing protocols are different dependant on surgical/non-surgical/severity of fracture etc etc all the best with the recovery

      I had the same surgery, ten screws and a plate. Week 7, in boot for 3 more weeks. Everything I researched showed gradual weight bearing but my surgeon said I can do full weight bearing. I’m being more cautious although doing the PT exercises to build muscle back up. I’m no spring chicken but have been very active all my life. Can’t wait to walk normally again. Good luck on your recovery.

    To be able to do these things on week 6, this must be a relatively mild fracture.

      Yes routine low risk fractures. Obviously with higher risk fractures, weight bearing protocols will differ.

      Depends on soft tissue damage like ligament tears
      - and age
      - and general activity levels beforehand
      I’m week 4 after bimalleolar fracture with dislocation and 4 ligament tears - and i can do some of these (dorsiflexion is extraordinarily painful though.)

    How many time repeat ?

    • @sportrehabguide
      @sportrehabguide  2 года назад +3

      Majority of exercises can be done a few times a day starting with 30secs building up to 1min if tolerated. Isometric holds for 5 secs building up to 30secs as tolerated.
