I have had mine since 2016, serviced every couple of years, tested on a sea survival course. They are absolutely great. Robust and very comfortable especially when snoozing in the cockpit, I found the neck support is great as well.
Yeah they are great life jackets mind you I really don’t like the neck. I found it limited neck movement when looking up or at least got uncomfortable after long periods. After a neck fracture it just highlighted this problem. We’ve had two for about the same amount of time as yourself and all I can say is that it’s amazing how good they are and surprising how much things have come along since then!
I’m a big fan of my Spinlock lifejackets and have them setup almost identically to yours (MOB1 and bladder lights) - one addition I recommend is an MOB Lifesaver which gets attached to the red lifting strop and provides better retrieval from deck level. The newer jackets have a single thicker crotch strap too!
Hey Harry, nice one! Glad we encouraged you to go for one 👍🏼 Def worth the investment! Hope you get some amazing adventures out there with it! Where do you sail?
@@SailHub Hello, we just bought an old little Classic Ship from Sweden. A Vindö32 with GFK Hull and wooden superstructure and Longkeel. I love the behavior in wave of the old long keel ships. Now we will explore the Baltic See for the next years. There is still a lot to see for the Rest of my Live 😉. Happy Easter Reinhard
@@harrybo670 superb boats! I’d you have not already, you should defiantly check out @sailingmagiccarpet I’m pretty sure theses guys refurbed one in a spectacular manner!
Cheers, things have come in a bit since this episode. We will be releasing a 2024 lifejacket overview in the next week or so. There’s some cool innovations being launched this year!
I bought the 5D about 6 or so years ago for offshore sailing from France to Las Palmas in the Canaries. Had a PLB and when I got back to the US, I bought a MOB AIS transponder. I also was able to squeeze in a powerful strobe light. That little light wand is pathetic.
Hey Steve, there’s a lot goes into life jackets, surprisingly it’s not all about marine qualifications there but, in my opinion it certainly helps and you should really have some one who’s got the qualls on board!

Nice, and good advice for others there too!
You should probably do bisc, issc and advanced sea survival courses prior to commenting!
