    His books were extremely popular in the Soviet Union (as his books were approved for print and were released in millions) as he was a big fan of USSR, had a meeting with Stalin and even wrote a complimentary book called "Moscow 1937". Ironically the person who felt so deeply the catastrophe of Germany, could not sense the catastrophe and criminality of the Soviet Union. But nevertheless amazing writer, I read everything from him - easy and engaging reading.
