Absolutely headed to insolvency in 2022. They are running on fumes financially and have no significant revenue stream in sight. Pre-orders and "physical products" are a loss and they won't make wide release.
Shoved into confused kid's hands at public events, promoted by middle-aged RUclipsrs, and funded by old retirees clueless about video games. The Amico truly is an all-ages console.
The Elizabeth Holmes case taught me that you have to ignore the impression a ceo gives you, and instead carefully listen to any deceptive wordplay when asked questions. So for example when Amico say things like "production phase of manufacturing", they are creating an impression of manufacturing, while trying to cover themselves legally in the likely scenario that they are not.

The stupid thing is, complicated doesn't always mean bad, and simple doesn't always mean good. Complicated games can make kids smarter and more responsive to situations. Simulation games like Rollercoaster Tycoon (I still play 1 and 2 open source) are wonderful games that teach kids about proper money management, physic (even if they are janky) and the engineering. The game can be very complicated with its many menu's, but far from "too complex for kids." Kids have low attention spans (having a 4 year old son) and games that are too simple will bore them quickly.
The Amico will likely be released in roughly a year's time AND it will be an unmitigated failure. Or, it will never be released. Either way, Tommy will blame the ensuing disaster exclusively on Pat and Ian. Just like it's been for years now. Tommy will be completely incapable of introspection. Failing to reinvigorate the Intellivision brand would be an excellent opportunity for him to learn about his own shortcomings, show some humility and grow as a person. Instead he will choose to lash out like a child when faced with the reality that his idea was never really all that viable to begin.
I noticed after this podcast went up and after a few other videos about Tommy not responding to the investors that they suddenly responded to all of those questions. Good news boys.... Nick Richards said that they will have an update on the launch within the next 30 days.... or so. :)

Yeah, he trully is THAT scummy.

These investment outfits seem much more likely to be held to task by authorities such as the SEC as opposed to a crowdfunding site, if the funds are being misappropriated are spent without any credible accounting the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency could get involved, and that’s just US authorities, let alone the fact that German taxpayers also have the right to demand to know how an overseas company is spending their money.
Imagine that they announced this trainwreck when the Switch was about to be released. And (if it ever comes out), it would be released after the Switch replacement gets released.
Seeing that there are more and more rumors around the next switch it would not be surprising that at least they have announced it. But switch 2 is probably in 2023/2024 so either Amico will be in legal problems or it was released and forgotten.
Watching this Amico thing unfold feels like watching one of those films about a con artist trying to get away with the big con and you already know they end up with nothing.
The only “happy ending” I can hope for is Tommy bails and sells the Intellivision IP to someone who actually cares about preserving the original games and releases an HDMI Intellivision Classic Edition with every non-licensed game they have the rights to.
Hear me out on this... What if team Amico is "converting" salaries to foreign currency to be able to brag on how every one is getting paid above six figures. Cause 6 figures in Venezuelan money or 100,000 yen isn't a lot of USD, but still a six figure salary.

It was funny watching Nick Dicks (I'm sure that what his friends call him), try to dunk of Hamill. He's lucky that the Amico has effectively zero public awareness and most people don't follow the Ponzi-like scheme or else Hamill could have replied with something like "I mean, it's not like I've ever used millions in investor money to pay myself inflated rent for a worthless empty building that no one was going to use an office space since everyone was working from home- a building I was using to store my junk (or hide assets?). Nor did I ever collect a six figure salary for years with nothing to show for it. Nor did I ever set up a ton of questionable LLCs for a single product so that I could obfuscate how investor money was spent (and possibly launder money). I can honestly say I've never done that. How about you, Nick?"
Given that a significant number of NFT's are just art work someone stole, as much as I dislike Tommy, I'd be shocked if that wasn't just ripped from somewhere else without anyone's permission to sell it as an NFT. Shocking, I know.
Ah man this is the gift well, no, the story that keeps on giving. I feel bad for many people who invested in this, some lessons are learned the hard way. The crappy part is Tommy will likely get away with this. From the looks of it everyone who did invest appears to have not researched a damn thing about video games. So my only question is if Ian is right and Tommy just throws what ever random crap in a box and ships it out to "founders", does this make the Amico, the Fyre fest of Video games?! Or more like the Theranos of gaming?

It must be obvious to the “executive” team that this is not going to be successful, so why do they carry on as if it will. The money will run out and will they still hang on to it? This so much like the Vega + , they shipped some units in the end which were shoddy to say the least. Just to say they shipped a product and then they vanished. With everyone’s money
Cut and Run is classic. Remember Aido? ruclips.net/video/7tCiAru6iqg/видео.html As Stop Drop Retro says, they've already got the money. What are the investors gonna do about it when Republic has a "no backsies"?
I wish Stop Drop & Retro covered the Amico. He’d have a whole lot to say on the Amico, making his video series on the Chameleon look like a short skit.
@@ccricers I liked the really sharp edges that you could cut things with and the protective packing it was sent in to stop it getting broken or damaged, a piece of paper...
There's something very wrong with an INVESTOR who only cares about getting THEIR system. That's probably the most confusing thing about these people. If I invest 10K, I want a full blown launch so I can recoup my investment. They consider Tommy just saying 'Hi' to be an update.
Does Tommy realize that when he's bragging about their "pilot plastics" he's only just now as far along as Mike Kennedy got with the Coleco Chameleon? "Formal production" isn't manufacturing because he still lacks step ZERO in going to manufacturing- FCC certification.
I feel bad for all the investors. Clearly the majority of them have no idea about how bad this investment would be. Sure the Intellivision was known back then, but there's no way the current generation of gamers would want the thing in any reasonable numbers to make their money back.
So...basically what I have learned from this, you could replace Tommy with damn near anyone else and this product might have actually got off of the ground.
Being a huge fan and collector of the intellivision I was stoked initially about this system coming out so much so I ordered 2 founders editions one for my brother and one for me I then ordered two others, then the delays came then the B.S. gifts they sent which was just crappy music then excuse after excuse, hell I even bought a hat lol. I’ve since gotten all my money back it took an act of Congress and there were rip marks in the bills from Tommy’s fingers. I’m so happy I bailed out on this monorail scam. I’d rather invest in Homer Simpson’s car at least it had oversized cup holders. Good luck getting any money back from TT now.
Same here, though I only preordered one founder's day editions. I got my refund after the first delay because it just wasn't sitting right with me. I'm glad I bailed when I did because this looks like giant train wreck waiting to happen.
Wow, you were the type of perfect fan that TT REALLY couldn't have imagined in his wildest dreams... Four pre orders.... Thats dedication and a lot of money paid for a promise... And his disregard for everything except his ego has soured even mega fans like yourself... That says a lot. I'm very glad you got your money back mate 👍 I hope you can enjoy the type of experience you wanted with the Amico in the Switch or with emulation and that people can be more wary of stuff like this in the future. Thank you for sharing
Some of those investor comments are so deranged, is it certain that they're all real and not Tommy just typing shit and having sock puppet conversations with himself?
I honestly don't feel bad for most of these "investors". It's a bunch of old people who are out of touch and haven't done their research before investing, which you should always do no matter what. It's fine to not understand these new-fangled things, but to bet your money in lieu of your understanding and knowledge is just plain stupid.
It's this simple. The people who invested and pre-ordered this thing will defend it to no end because they already took their money. You had the DJ C guy making a list of "haters" in a video. Those Amico-ites are so sensitive.
Come on, Pat, you know better than to say we should feel sorry for those investors since they don’t know what they’ve bought. Don’t feel sorry for the investors. Ignorance is no excuse or defense. It’s on the investors to research their investments.
What about the Avengers of the video game industry that were supposed to make this console great? You could tell they broke up, like the Beatles. During the Intellivision Civil War, Tony- I mean Tommy might’ve recruited good friend Spider-Man to help out.
i am almst middle aged (will be 50 this year). new games arent that hard (I got an xbox during covid. I havent gamed since the late 90s. I love it). I had a vcs as a kid. nobody asked for crap like the amico, not all older people are gullible.
i think i'm only subbed to pat now a days for these reviews , flea market madness and the occasional pat the nes punk review/episode. ..... i think that's his whole channel keep up the good shit
Welcome back Ian. Look a lot better man. It's nice to see you that you recovered from your illness and back where you belong right beside Pat during the CU podcast. Yeah I think the Amico is dying a slow and painful death at this point and I think Tommy is refusing to give up and he will keep fighting to the end and will refuse to listen to anyone who says give up Tommy. There is nothing wrong with complicated games. Also Pat and Ian are correct in saying that some of these investors are literate when it comes to games and gaming and do NOT know what they invested in. If the Amico crashes and burns I can see Tommy dealing with lawsuits from the investors due to broken promises and maybe the customers who pre-ordered the system and bought the so called physical media as well.
Man, Intellivision just doesn't get it right. Their response to this Ars Technica article is so convoluted and unnecessary. It did more harm than good really.
I really really wish Tommy would've just stuck to his lane doing Video Games Live. That was actually fun. The Amico just feels like the world's slowest trainwreck
@@XanthinZarda True, he does plaster himself all over VGL too. Not sure what you meant with your second sentence there but yes the Follin Bros are absolute VGM composition badasses. Not sure if I could stomach another after all this Amico shit though
@@DSoverPSP Basically, Tommy made the nebulous claim of being a pioneer of putting "actual instruments into video games music", but Rob Hubbard and several composers who people actually know beat him to the punch by several years; see the C64 Intro to Skate or Die for example.
I'm personally still trying to figure out how the fuck a new Earthworm Jim game is going to control with this controller without it being an on rails experience like most Kinect games work.
It's always something like this that exposes how careless and bad individual investors really are. Loose with money, used to either breaking even or profiting with other sure things, then this. Yikes. I don't know anything about investing, but I know enough basic knowledge that this looks like a bad deal for some of these tragically clueless and out of touch people. Ouch.
Never forget that B-17 Bomber was the first console game to talk... Hearing, ' Bombs Away ' as a kid playing a brand new cartridge was really intense...
Intellivision! - ? - Profit! These guys didn't have a solid coordinated plan. If they'd actually gotten a viable prototype together to take the Kickstarter route maybe they would have had a more pragmatic grip on what they could deliver and how they would get it done. I don't know how anyone sane would make a business investment in this thing after seeing them stumble so poorly out of the blocks.
Hey pat I love your show and the podcast, but I have a small gripe it's been 2 weeks I've been noticing your laptop getting dusty please for the love of god wipe it down. Keep up the good work
I read the article it Nails everything on the head just as well as Pat and Ian do. I really want a new intellivision but I just can't see how this thing will work. You know they could just scrap the whole thing and just make the console to play the old games
@15:37 Are these even real confessionals? It sounds like entry level marketing people making this crap up. But I suppose they do have real investors. Just never gonna get return on this thing.
I bought the Atari Flashback for like $20 used. We had fun with it when I brought it home. Have not used it since. Old games are very simple. Don’t really hold up to anything modern. And I’m talking The Wii. Just saying it’s not going to hold up to what you remember.
Imagine being actually excited about this and wait for years! While there is a huge libary of games everywhere in 2D, 3D and every genre you could possibly want. It's like the fanboys enjoy the wait more than games.
I just discovered the Amico saga in 2023. I have so much content to go through. It truly is an amazing and unfortunate story. However looking through the comments today knowing what has happened is just as amazing to see how folks defended this product so much.
I do want to see the IRS bill on Intellivision Entertainment. I want to see the discrepancies. Addendum: I can't imagine the thing releasing/doing a cut & run before April, so seeing returns may indeed be a real thing.
Probably but most con men and scammers hide money and "go broke" magically when they owe money. Bet theres fine print somewhere that protects the con. So yeahhhhhh
I have 427 subs. But I gotta say my Amico content was an argument with some folks who said the Collector Coin boxes were worthless. I flipped them at MGC Milwaukee for a profit. Love the show. I had money to burn on a pre order, knowing full well Tommy's a weirdo. However I'm old and REALLY want to play an Evel Knievel game in an Intellivision that looks like the Griswold's Family Truckster

@@cfltournaments8406 Really though, someone could put it on that list right now and not be wrong.
I don't think so this think is too obscure but i am sure a youtuber will make a 6 hour long documentary about it.
Remember Aido?
ruclips.net/video/7tCiAru6iqg/видео.html
As Stop Drop Retro says, they've already got the money. What are the investors gonna do about it when Republic has a "no backsies"?
I wish Stop Drop & Retro covered the Amico. He’d have a whole lot to say on the Amico, making his video series on the Chameleon look like a short skit.
Con men gotta con
I watched someone try out the Vega+. It froze after exiting the credits screen back to the game menu. Geez lol
@@ccricers I liked the really sharp edges that you could cut things with and the protective packing it was sent in to stop it getting broken or damaged, a piece of paper...
I love the amico, it's the gift that just keeps on giving. Thank you Pat & Ian.
There's something very wrong with an INVESTOR who only cares about getting THEIR system. That's probably the most confusing thing about these people. If I invest 10K, I want a full blown launch so I can recoup my investment. They consider Tommy just saying 'Hi' to be an update.
All smells a bit dodgy to me.
@@BrokenCircus the more you research it, the more dodgy it will seem.
I still can't believe this is still going on
Pat, the Amico is a middle finger to anyone who has any kind of standards for a video game console in the first place :p
I'm very glad you got your money back mate 👍
I hope you can enjoy the type of experience you wanted with the Amico in the Switch or with emulation and that people can be more wary of stuff like this in the future.
Thank you for sharing
Hey Pat, enjoyed seeing you at Sac Gaming Expo.
Some of those investor comments are so deranged, is it certain that they're all real and not Tommy just typing shit and having sock puppet conversations with himself?
The comments that Tommy responded to were probably Fiverr comments from India he bought himself
It's almost $400 canadian up here in Canada. I can almost guarantee that it never sold out. Lucky if they sold any
I honestly don't feel bad for most of these "investors".
The Immortal John Hancock just reviewed a console with 50000 games from Aliexpress. Still better than the Amico.
It looks decent!
@@nigelw7626 I KNOW! Was almost tempted for £50!
50000 games what a deal what could possibly go wrong.
What about the Avengers of the video game industry that were supposed to make this console great? You could tell they broke up, like the Beatles. During the Intellivision Civil War, Tony- I mean Tommy might’ve recruited good friend Spider-Man to help out.
Christ, investment clubs pitching a fucking console. Do the investors in these clubs know ANYTHING about consoles?
i am almst middle aged (will be 50 this year). new games arent that hard (I got an xbox during covid. I havent gamed since the late 90s. I love it). I had a vcs as a kid. nobody asked for crap like the amico, not all older people are gullible.
I see the title, thumbnail, and video time length and immediately stop what I'm doing so I can have some popcorn for this one
i think i'm only subbed to pat now a days for these reviews , flea market madness and the occasional pat the nes punk review/episode. ..... i think that's his whole channel keep up the good shit
We need a *Tommy Tallarico Phone Message Compilation* video when this is all over.
I'll go out on a limb and predict a plethora of top tier Tommy T voicemails in 2022.
Man, Intellivision just doesn't get it right. Their response to this Ars Technica article is so convoluted and unnecessary. It did more harm than good really.
I know Ian is beyond tired of talking about the Amico but us listeners really enjoy each Amico related video. It's entertaining.
Neil Patel is not a real name. It’s a secret cult. How can you not know that?
23:52 "shit in a box?" I'd rather have Tommy fart in a jar!
I really really wish Tommy would've just stuck to his lane doing Video Games Live. That was actually fun. The Amico just feels like the world's slowest trainwreck
Even that he manages to overshadow with his own ego. And I bet he'd go completely ape if anyone brought up Rob Hubbard or the Follin Bros.
@@XanthinZarda True, he does plaster himself all over VGL too. Not sure what you meant with your second sentence there but yes the Follin Bros are absolute VGM composition badasses. I don't really have any strong feelings about Tommy as a composer/sfx guy, but he used to put on a great show with the VGL concerts. Not sure if I could stomach another after all this Amico shit though
Yea his reputation is going down the drain with people who don't have early dementia.
He was ok with VGL as long as he didn’t step on stage with his guitar. He absolutely ruined the Halo theme…
They are laughing all thee way to the bank with the amico
Amico is broke. This is never coming out.
My buddy is an investor on this he did not talk to me before investing in it man he is pissed
Can you use his investor access to ask Tommy & Co. a worthwhile question?
If I had a drop board one of the clips would definitely be "EEE-YUN!!!"
Ouch.
And we thought the VCS was a dumpster fire...
DJC revealed that Amico HATERS are compiling a list of Amico supporters to attack. Must be a short list.
Formal production has begun! haters bow down to the man TT! Stay tuned for new amazing deep dives and investment returns!
This thing looks legitimately terrible.
Those investors would have done better blowing their money on ethereum
Or just hookers & blow.
Pat Nick Richards answered the question if funds are in escrow. He said that funds are being used to help manufacturing. So a big No.
Hahaha so yeah we blew it and golden.parchuts incoming
@@captaintoyota3171 Yep.
Tommy Talerico fled to Puerto Rico and buried his head in the sand. Pat and Ian went down to slap him around, just scrap the Amico “My Man”
Never forget that B-17 Bomber was the first console game to talk...
Hearing, ' Bombs Away ' as a kid playing a brand new cartridge was really intense...
I need to get a list of the names of these investors. I got some bridges to sell. I'm gonna make a killing!
9:30 lol, did you hire Tommy to make that 'Update' text?!
Can't wait for the "release date update". It's going to be another hilarious disaster.
My god that face he made at pat at the start priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey pat I love your show and the podcast, but I have a small gripe it's been 2 weeks I've been noticing your laptop getting dusty please for the love of god wipe it down. Keep up the good work
"Wonder if he was wearing a shirt when he posted that" laughter made me spit my coffee, thanks Ian
Reading these investor reviews proves that we never really lived in a meritocracy
I read the article it Nails everything on the head just as well as Pat and Ian do. I really want a new intellivision but I just can't see how this thing will work. You know they could just scrap the whole thing and just make the console to play the old games
well, it's not Doug Tenaple, that's a step up.
It's always funny to make fun of the shills like Smash JT
@15:37 Are these even real confessionals? It sounds like entry level marketing people making this crap up. But I suppose they do have real investors. Just never gonna get return on this thing.
This is not going to end well for investors. I give Intellivision Entertainment 3 more months, after that, I think they will go bankrupt.
I bought the Atari Flashback for like $20 used. We had fun with it when I brought it home. Have not used it since. Old games are very simple. Don’t really hold up to anything modern. And I’m talking The Wii. Just saying it’s not going to hold up to what you remember.
Maybe I'd be more respectful to the amico if Tommy made the controller app downloadable prior to launch
Or, you know... Launch the thing
Talk about "spiraling to Earth in a fiery hell..."
Why does the Amico menu system look they stole it from the N Gage or Gizmonfo hand helds?
it will be interesting to see how this all pans out
This is looking like the Phantom console all over again
spelled "since" wrong as sicne" great video though! i always love when you guys talk about amico
Placeholder text.
Imagine being actually excited about this and wait for years! While there is a huge libary of games everywhere in 2D, 3D and every genre you could possibly want. It's like the fanboys enjoy the wait more than games.
Meanwhile, here's a copy of Clubhouse games on the DS for Iunno, 10$?
I just discovered the Amico saga in 2023. I have so much content to go through. It truly is an amazing and unfortunate story. However looking through the comments today knowing what has happened is just as amazing to see how folks defended this product so much.
We don't deserve nice things.
LOL "I guess it’s 2023 question, but will we get a tax information form to know how to treat the revenue share for tax purposes?"
I do want to see the IRS bill on Intellivision Entertainment. I want to see the discrepancies.
Addendum: I can't imagine the thing releasing/doing a cut & run before April, so seeing returns may indeed be a real thing.

Launching incomplete, over promising and under delivering… sounds like it should be renamed the EAmico
Enronico.
If the console never gets released and Intellivision goes bankrupt, can the investors sue Tommy?
