just an observation, gas is heavier than air, so the detector would sense gas better if you held the sensor on the hob steelwork...so, if possible trace your pipework with the sensor below potential leaks....Rgds ...
Hi Jof’ very useful information video tracing the smallest of gas leaks. I can mind a gas engineer telling me use spray gas leak detection, just spray the joints and a bubble should start to appear he said it works on all low and high pressure systems. 👍
If the top test was beeping on the pipe after the solenoid and the fridge was off,it means you still have a leak as the valve is letting by. Also there are two types of ptfe . My advice is to get a gasafe engineer to put their manometer on the test point by the gas bottles to be 100% sure Thanks 👍
I’m going to be the only one undoing these again Derek, little an update I have just ordered a solenoid valve & some yellow ptfe tape to do the complete job.😎👌💯
Great vid Joff ,very informative just ordered a gas leak tester your costing me a fortune. Have you had a new starter battery for your Van recently I'm after 1 but not sure of cranking amps & type to get any info what you have would be greatly appreciated, as were of to Scotland nxt mth & dont trust the original batt so trying to source the correct one thanks Chris.
The gas leak tester is great Chris, if that is your original battery 🔋 grab the numbers off it and contact your local motor factor may offer some different make options.🧐👌
Thanks for your reply Jof as for your Starter battery could you possibly inform me of the make & type of yours please Ah hrs & ccc amps thanks very much for your time Chris.
Just goes to show how good a £20 gas leak detector of Amazon is as a diagnostic tool, great bit of detective work on your part to. Get the solenoid valve replaced asap. Amazon also do cheap non invasive damp meters, they may not be terribly accurate but will give you an idea if one area of your motorhome has an issue!
@@MOHOTELADVENTURESJof let us know what you buy. Also if you are five years old are you replacing the cam belt which is something I think Fiat recommend. Any airbag ecu or Truma element issues. We have changed the ecu a few months ago and will be replacing our elements this week as one has died.
@@MOHOTELADVENTURESI bought the “Proster Pinless Moisture Meter” just checked and it’s currently on offer at £15.49, that a lot cheaper than I paid 😢 I do a quick test around my motorhome every couple of months and compare results to the previous test, hopefully that way I’ll spot any issues before they become problems.
Hi joff, just to let you know you have now told the world that you have taken gas fittings apart and put back, unless you are a gas registered engineer you have broken the law ! Gas safe regulations can only be carried out by a gas safe engineer . Just a thought mate ?
@@user-ov3bb3dd9w thanks for letting me know, tomorrow I will be fitting a new gas solenoid valve and using the correct gas ptfe and retesting I am confident I can carry this out to the correct standard very similar to when I connect my cadac to the outside lpg point👌🚍🏨💯
@@MOHOTELADVENTURES please be careful here mate, gas safe regs are very robust , if you are not qualified you are not allowed to touch it, of course every body dose but if you get it wrong watch out!!

Hi jof thanks for clearing that up , learnt something today about gas safe regulations in mobile vehicles,
Thank you

Jof. Get some odd nail varnish colour and mark up all the unions. Not that I don’t trust workshops but £120 to detect what you did.
