- HERMITCRAFT SEASON 9
In Episode 40 Falsesymmetry starts her Hermitcraft MEGA BASE expansion with it's very own Elytra Course! Xisuma did in fact finish his first, but this one is fully above ground, flying around the Ice Castle, Factory and surrounding areas.
False also gets a timed run on Xisuma's Elytra Course and plays some more TCG!

It could be fun to give the Hermits a limit on Rockets for your course and see how fast they can complete it with 20 rockets or half a stack.
You could take this idea even further and have the challenge be minimum rockets rather than minimum time. It helps that this course is quite long making it less likely that people will use the same number of rockets.
One hoop straight down 😮
The cat in tcg is there to scare the creepers away, beef had a slight accident thus the missing signs, they disappeared along with half the floor and 2 of the vending machines... 😂
The shop was attacked, which explains the things looking slightly different and the new guard kitty. 😊
Yeah, it was a creeper attack. It caused a good amount of damage.
The cat has been hired because of an incident with an upset customer. He came in looking calm and collected but the moment he laid eyes on the staff and customers he exploded. What a creeper.
Pro tip for elytra courses, if you build a set of tripwires to fly through at the start and end of the course that trigger lamps ahead of you. You can see exactly the frame in your recording where the lights go on. Then there's no confusion over exactly what the time is. It also means you don't need to count jumping or landing in the time.
The Elytra course looks really good so far, but you might want to make it a bit more challenging later on...
And soooo close on X's Elytra course, that really needs a thorough check!
A recommendation for the rings themselves.
Color attracts the eye. You have a lot of wood color in your base, so you need to do something to designate the rings better.
Yep, was thinking banners potentially - numbered also. But will see! ty
@@FalseSymmetry Numbered rings are so beneficial yet rarely used.
It might be a bit expensive, but with the current ring design, you could put beacons through the sea lanterns to help people see them even at night. And if you alternative the beam colors between 2-3 colors in an order, people will know where to look next by looking for the next beam in the sequence.
False, making a circle in Minecraft? No kidding?
Also, should we call them the X-lytra course and the False-lytra course?
😂
I love how the TCG shop turned into a New York deli with the cat as the shop owner
Love how the new tower looks and excited for the elytra course!
Save up your TCG pack sleeves. You can recycle them for more tokens at the center next to the shop.
Maybe instead of removing the beacon you can set up some red stone so when someone starts the course a piston pushes a block over it for 10-15 seconds and then it turns back on! :)
2:29 "I kind of wanted to not build square, I wanted to build circular." For some reason that cracked me up!
So many elytra courses this season!
A prize for the elytra course could be whoever participates puts something valuable (diamonds, IOU, a beacon, etc.) into the pot then maybe split it between the top two.
oh gosh that really is super close between you and cub! the elytra course is looking super cool so far, it's a really cool area to do it in with your base and all of the ice mountains i think
The Elytra course is progressing so well! For an idea, you could use a pipe from the factory to create a challenge in the area, an obstacle or something to go through.
This base is so good… love seeing the episodic progress!
You could make it a tag team game. Teams of two with one member of the team doing one half and the other doing the rest or get them both to run the course at same time, then adding the times together. Having a red stone clock to keep the time.
I feel like there should be a "Gentle-Hermits Agreement" for TCG: If one player has played many more games than the other, the more experienced should have to declare their Hermit type(s). That way, the other could modify their deck (maybe).
Ren is trying to establish a precedent where hermits with stronger decks remove some of their rares and ultra rares from their decks when playing newer players to make the matches more even. It is nice to see it catching on.
@@matthewparker9276 Lol, i just saw the clip where he explains to Scar that this would be a "Handicapped" mode. Awk-ward!
The long straight bit at the start of the elytra course could be made a bit more interesting by having an extra hoop requiring you to zig-zag sideways around the beacon beam, or drop down and fly back up again, or both.
I almost feel like the different Elytra courses could be named in a way tracks are in Mariokart ie. Chocolate Mountain (a bit of a throwback to how Scar often refers to dark oak as dark chocolate), Bone Caverns etc. It might also inspire other hermits to build other themed elytra courses and get people racing on them.
. . . And Waluijoe Pinball?
@@mac5565 Maybe Haikujoe Pinball, to avoid copyright infringements LoL
Awesome Episode! Very cool tower! Maybe frog lights could be a better source for the arrows? But love the elytra course so far! You could do, if two people race, winner gets the elytra of the loser, and the loser isn't allowed to use the elytra for 24 hours or something :)
Really enjoying your editing this season, and I can't wait to see the elytra course up and running! Very exciting!
Of all the things that need to be accessible on foot, ironically I wouldn't think a elytra race course would be one of them.
The course looks great so far, it'll be amazing to see lots of people flying around your super cool castle! (Haha, I just remembered one time during the crossover when Joe's elytra broke right as he went through the purple rings of radiation stuff at the top, and then Oli fell right after him! Maybe those rings could feature in the course too somehow?)
A fly off between you and Cub
Your base is one of my favorite this season! Thanks for the video, False!
Start of the Elytra course is looking good! I'd definitely recommend some tighter sections, like a hoop leading them into a tight valley with another hoop at the other end etc.
The arrows with a dark oak border look nice. But the sea lanterns blend in with the snow/ice. You should use something like purple concrete to draw the eye. Maybe complement with froglights if they can fit.
The minecart track looks like a cable car line, you could add one about halfway up
You need an arrow for the right turn before the last hoop. The course looks awesome and the tower is just wow
Awesome episode! Loving the course so far! Can’t wait to see where you take it from here! Keep up the amazing work! Have a fantastic week! See you later!
You can alternate colored hoops so it adds a clearer understanding of what the next hoop needs to be. Plus I would definitely add some more hoops down by the snow peaks...
Idea for your Elytra course:
Each rocket used adds 1s to the time, so people have to be economic on the usage.
Or you give them a specific number of rockets, an amount that is enough to complete the course, but not to go full speed. Then each remaining rocket subtracts one second.
@FalseSymmetry:
My suggestion is to use a sticky_piston & redstone circuit to pull one block out of the pyramid's apex. That would allow you to turn off the beacon when the race starts.
Perhaps a cool thought to make the course a tad more insane AND highlight the industrial: add another pipe to the factory part, and have the hermits fly through the pipe. Have it end out on an industrial waste side (add some mutants or so), just a small bit of tunnel, and then out from another side of the mountain to another industrial waste site. Have them make an U-turn upwards back to the industrial area, and then snake back to base. Not as marathon-y/drag racey, but perhaps fun to have the mix of crazy 'in-cave' tunneling flying as a split from the speed making 'loose control' of the first hoop part! Also, regarding the 0.01 second difference, perhaps if no other hermit crushes you both, it'd be fun to just have a simultaneous race (if X agrees) with cub for the final glory, and if Cub's not on-board, have him come on-board in complaining about timezones, him using imperial time instead of metric, him flying during the leap second moment, or him flying a higher altitude and as such being affected by general relativity. If he's any bit the scientist he claims to be, those should be all the arguments (aside of fun) he needs to just... race you for the final gold! Would be fun having a screenshot finish :D
I still absolutely adore the roof gradients on your builds, they look gorgeous and so colourful! The Elytra courses look like so much fun too, this was a great episode. :D
Between you, X, and Joe, I think by the end of the season there will be an elytra 'grand prix' going on. There might just have to be a cmpetition on who can get the fastest time on all three combined
Hiya False! Even adding rings to fly through an arrows does not diminish the beauty of your base. The elytra course is going to be another source of fun, thank you!
Scott might have some good arrow designs, after a famous mcc Ace Race disaster a while back!
I love that there's multiple elytra courses this season. It's always so satisfying watching people fly through them.
Love the way yours is coming along. I would maybe add one more hoop before the one under the bridge or make that one slightly more obvious because it blends in really well at the moment. I feel it might be a bit harder to spot for those unfamiliar with the course.
Also, love the thumbnail! Very dynamic!
base and course lookin good. and what a close time you have with cub!
29:56 until landing
29:34 until arriving the platform
You can relocate the beacons to be next to each of the waypoint rings.
love how the course is coming along! also, i adore the gradients and the lighting style you use for your tower roofs, amazing
You're amazing! Thank you for sharing all your work and fun :)
Gosh, the roofs and overall feel of False's base keeps getting prettier and prettier.
Maybe a path into the mountain that goes straight down to bedrock with a tight turn around to another shaft back up? It would be a good place to build up some speed at the risk of face-planting into bedrock, plus it would be very different from Xisuma's layout.
In Xisuma's course apparently you all fly a shortcut where you should fly on the left side of a pillar between the rib and the pillar instead of passing straight ahead on the right of the pillar.
I sort of half expected the “hoops” to sort of look like four-pointed-stars ✨ in your roof-ombre-colors with the hoops in the centers, considering all the conversation about your colors. If that’s your thought, it’s gonna look awesome! But maybe you were just thinking of the towers. 😅
You could add a section in the elytra course climbing to build height and then have a dive with a sharp pull up at the bottom. I find that to be a very fun maneuver while flying!
Looks great! I was wondering about having a series of hoops close together, forming a tunnel. Could add some interest and challenge, especially if players had to turn inside the tunnel!
i think you need to talk to X and see about connecting his course with yours. with some redstone so you can cut off access to his and vice versa, as needed.
It looked like there was a crevasse in the mountainous area next to the factory that might be cool to add a hoop in to force racers to 'swoop' through, death star trench run style!
anvil traps are the way to go. what better way to reward people than making them your victims to the anvil war
A creeper destroyed the shop a few days ago so the cat was placed there for security.
8:29 she says it looks kinda nice me it looks amazing
To test if the arrows work for the elytra course and people won't get turne the wrong way, maybe get Ph1lzA to come test for you.
Does Cubfan even have a video of him taking the Elytra course? Because he's apparently the first one who submitted score, and that means he's the one who got anviled.
Add gondolas to your rail line. That would fit the theme of your base well and make it look good.
Adding cable cars to it 👍
Team up with Xisuma and have the hermits compete in an elytra cours Grand Prix for an even greater price!! The best hermit at both courses wins!!!
Maybe there is some way to limit the number of rockets (Like 5x duration 1 plus 5x duration 2 plus 5x duration 3) to make it a more tactical race...
could be cool when you go into the cave, if you could get a warden to do its thing an make it go black, just an idea, love the video, love you an love your face
The cat in the shop. I have him as my mayor in my town.
That railway looks a bit like it could be part of a cable car.
the race looks great so far!!!
The prize for the course should be 30 diamond blocks.
You should make that mine cart rail look like a ski lift!
Love the course! Rings could be a little hard to find, any way you can use yellow terracotta to make them stand out a bit more? Might not be needed though. :)
Falses castle alytra course its awsome possible mob hazards too
if you and cub end up being the top two times, then a race off!
I am curious how much longer this season will be. I know from looking at dates of past seasons they did not go much past 1 year and this one is almost at a year. I also wonder why more hermits do not use a vpn because I watch quite a few of them and they all have lag issues. Impulse advertises a vpn but nobody else ever talks about them and it seems like it would help a lot of them. Sorry, my nerd showed :). Great episode. Maybe a prize could be like a favor from False or something.
Xisuma has said recently the season is nowhere near finished. And a lot of hermits seem to have come back from the holiday break full of energy (with TCG giving an added boost of inspiration for a lot of them). I'd say this season is more likely to be an exceptionally long one like season 6, so maybe even another half a year (or longer!) before the end
Surely a VPN would just make things worse? The data still needs to get TO and from them, and routing through a third party is just making that path longer
@Chris Parker VPNs can help improve ping for a few reasons. First, VPNs create a more direct connection between your computer and the game server you're playing on, which can help reduce latency or ping. Additionally, VPNs can help protect your computer from DDoS attacks, which can also cause increased latency and higher ping rates.
@@ChrisSDParker Also watch Impulse advertise for Nord I think. He shows how his ping to the Hermitcraft server is low until he changes severs with his vpn. The low ping is the same issue Pearl has doing mlg water clutches. I think just about every serious online gamer/streamer should use one honestly. Cleaner connections=better gaming.
@@MrTaskmaster1 I just fundamentally don't get how funneling your traffic through another server been user and target can provide any speed benefit
Instead of making a Minecraft rail maybe design it like a ski lift
"I don't want to build square, I want to build round" ... ...Err.. ... False, this is MineCraft, Sometimes call SquareCraft don't-cha-know?
Maybe a number on a banner might help. Base looks beautiful as always
the arrows are great
looking good!
Hey False, will there be horizontal rings or hoops to fly up thru or down thru?? I think it might help increase difficulty and add variety to the elytra course to include some rings that require a steep ascent or descents.
Maybe they could fly through an underground waterfall...
I think you should make the railway a bit more flat, that might help the design if possible
It's going to look like a cable car eventually - so it needs to be as it currently is 👍
@@FalseSymmetry okay, wasn’t aware of that
Could you use a cheaty-cam to check for some easy-to-race-adapt caves in the area? A purely above-ground course might be too easy.
Chevron style « » arrows are used on some race courses. I think they would look good, might be easier to spot in a cluttered space? Could be pretty easily built at 45 degree increments also.
There should be an arrow after a ring when there is a sharp turn to get to next ring, such as that low ring under the bridge.
It might be good to use multiple arrows for course markings. Use the pointy arrow to highlight the ring itself, and the chevron arrow to suggest a course direction change. I feel that clear and obvious markings are important to a good race experience.
great thumbnail!
I love watching your videos!
Nice episode, good work.
Amazing Builds
How about making the underground section a bit more dangerous, like with obstacles, drip stone, etc. to spice it up?
Make little numbers above the rings so people know the order and give the rings better visibility?
Why not make a redstone timing system that's activated as competitors fly through the first hoop and stops as they fly through the last? Tripwires would be perfect to start and stop the clock, and time could be measured by the number of items transferred from one tile entity's inventory to another's, for example, a hopper that's unlocked during the timed run dropping items into a chest.
Such a system would negate any arguments over who beat who, although if a hopper is used, its relatively slow rate might lead to tied results, but there are faster options.
I'm sure Doc, Etho, or Impulse would be delighted to help if you need any assistance. I'm guessing Tango's too busy with Decked Out 2.
I think you should add ice sculptures into fhe base
Yesss!
I wonder if Flight Duration 2 or 3 rockets would be good for this course, that's a bit more open.
Super random but since the course goes by your mob farm, what if you made people fly through a waterfall of moons lol
Brighter hoops I think
The composter and flint and steel cards are good, but I feel like drawing them is a waste because there could have been another card in the deck that would have been drawn instead. They are definitely useful but I would have only one of those two cards in a deck at the most.
If you wanted to be a bit cheeky,. you could call yours 'The Good Elytra Course'. At least until X sees it.
Elytra course!!
After the fifth ring it's kinda unclear which way to go..might need an arrow there?
Hey falsy
You should defenitely get rid of the "Bed card"
It'll not help you in any way
Instead add another "Bow" cause that helps you to hurt the afk hermit and sometimes it helps to get you a victory point.....
And if possible trade the "Bed card"
Another advice is you would want to add one/two TNT in your deck along with one/two chest cause TNT is an excellent offensive card and chest helps you regain your valuable cards which are discarded......
The fortune book is good but it's useless also at the same time so you should get rid of that via trading maybe and see if you can get a netherite armor
Hope these helps your TCG deck building.....
Cheers mate...
Ty!
I would suggest not trading away the fortune book right now (unless you do get a really good offer for it), but save it until you have a few more rare hermits in your deck, particularly ones that rely on coin tosses. With just a single card you can use it with, it isn't likely to be useful when you draw it, but if most of your hermits can use it it will be a strong card.
You should name your track "Course, Elytra"
