The sound is amazing. I have a console ( we call them radiograms in the UK) and it's the same age as me:65. Still going strong! It has AM/FM radio (known as Long Wave, Medium Wave and VHF in 1955) and a BSR autochange deck. It's also stereo. Although my dad's old rock n' roll 45s are mono, the sound of them playing on my old faithfull Ferguson radiogram cannot be surpassed. These things were certainly built to last.
Love consoles... I recall when I was a boy every household had a console. I really dug the German Grundig consoles. They were gorgeous & had a warm jukebox sound. So happy to see the consolette in your collection. Beautiful, beautiful collection.....
What an awesome collection! Great work restoring these wonderful consoles. Brings back memories of my childhood. All of my parents friends and neighbors in my subdivision had Console stereos of every brand. When we would visit, the owners would let me use their Consoles to keep the music going. I would be in heaven. It is such a great memory. I have a question for you.... One of my Neighbors had a beautiful console that had a oscilloscope on the receiver. I am thinking that the unit was "Quad" as I remember speakers on each side of the couch across the living room from the Console. In my memory it was an RCA but I am not 100%. Sometimes I think it was a Magnavox. Have you run across a Console with an oscilloscope? I so wish I would have taken pictures of each console back then. Thanks for the Videos and the great memories!
There were some late 60s and into the mid 70s with a balance display that looked like that for a 4 speaker setup. Packard Bell comes to mind as one of those.

The Magnavox sounds good, I'm not much for most other consoles with open back design or even open back Magnavox consoles they all have a boomy clouded bass and boxy sound, the Magnavox Imperial with sealed enclosures does not have that typical console sound it has a solid well defined bass.

Very nice collection of consoles! I remember my Mom and Dad having a Magnavox with Tuner and Turntable had four speakers inside it!
Back in the late 50's if a family had one of these it was special!

Actually it is not sealed. The only sealed speakers in that video are in the Zenith Z960.
