- Mariachi Sol Azteca, under the direction of Angel Guzman, is one of Southern Arizona's premiere Mariachi groups. Angel talks about the roots of Mariachi music while Mariachi Sol Azteca dazzles with a bouquet of vibrant harmonies, energy and passion.
In 2001, two local high school students had a vision to create a respectable ensemble of mariachi musicians that would represent their culture and enrich the spirit of mariachi music. It is through strategic efforts by director Angel Guzman and committed members that turned this vision into a reality. Over the years, the ensemble has grown to 15 musicians that consist of violins, trumpets, guitars, a vihuela, a guitarron and a harp. Members of Mariachi Sol Azteca have a passion to share their music with others by performing for private events and community events that facilitate cultural growth. Mariachi Sol Azteca has also become a vehicle of expression, growth and discipline, whose mission is to educate and continue preserving mariachi music in professional and respectful way. Absolutely love the appreciation of the history of Mariachi music. I was excited to watch a TED video on it but alas, the sound quality was terrible. The band was not appropriately mic'd or balanced.
I am sad about the video. I was at this talk live and the band was beyond FANTASTIC. I have never experienced anything like them. They were started 10 years ago by some high school kids who wanted to preserve their heritage.
So, so beautiful , this gorgeous music and talented people take me back to when I lived n worked in Mexico touring...Many thanks you have filled my heart with joy!👍🏼❤️🌈🌶

So much nagitive comments on this video, why???
Mr Anti care perhaps because many of us tend to use an ethnocentric way of thinking and we believe that just because something is different to what we are used to is ugly or unacceptable. May be we should start appreciating everything fir what it is and for what we want it to be, especially cultural practices that differ to our own but that cause no damage to anyone.
I really do think it was intended as a joke. Not that it is correct, but many people relate mariachi music to Mexican restaurants or wedding receptions.
