You know buck owens never fished one single jetty in the town of Bakersfield. He liked catching kingfish in Berkeley, and sometimes koi at just about any golf course. Carp were scarce back in his hometown. Can you imagine those songs he wrote anout it?
The infamous wind knot. Can take many forms. There all hated.grew up in Idaho. Never heard of a wind knot. Until I moved to Oregon. Great video, thanks buddy.
Yeah, you hit the sweet spot between high and low, you can almost throw an bare hook in and nail them. Once north of Florence I hit a run of Perch that was out of control. I was surf casting and had a crowd of people watching me haul one in on every cast, all nice keepers too. I gave away a bunch and still went home with 10. I am glad the crowd showed up because the Gulls kept trying to steal my fish and bait. One bastard ALMOST got my keys out of my tackle box. I call the horned fish Bull Head's. I would fish of the piers at Fisherman's Wharf in SF for Jacksmelt, and they would always try to steal my bait. Aren't the Eels good eating? I know freshwater are. You guys should start using trolling reels. There is a learning curve, but once you get it down you can cast 2x farther than with a spinning reel. You can't beat them surf casting, and 20+ lb stripers are not a problem.
I honestly think you have to be a little bit gnarlier, a little bit more knowledgeable, and a little luckier to fish off Oregon jetties. The wind will drive you mad out there. Glad to see others out there doing it. I like your guys style too keep it up.
Agree. Great comment and thank you for the love. It's hard to take angler that don't have alot of experience because of these factors. If they don't fully understand, they will most likely just loose a bunch of tackle. So many factors out there most days. Other days they would get lucky. There are so many things to take into account to getting your line wet.
Was the lingcod footage also out of Winchester? Love the videos I personally fish for everything you guys catch and man I wish I had your holes and spots you guys slay everything! PNW for life
Hey Mark. I actually wasnt aware that it's not a cab. Please school me. I looked into it and still can't find the best way to tell them apart. Have always thought those were cabs
@@TheBite2020 I actually think it's a cabezon, I've caught those before and I believe the tail markings and its overall translucency make it a cab, not an Irish lord.
That’s a cabby you got 💯! The Irish lord has racing stripe scales on top of their body that runs parallel with their top fin down to their tail almost. And same scale stripe on the side of their body. The body of a cabby is all smooth.
