Omg thank you so much! I wish I found this sooner. I was so so stressed with all the over whelming warning out there in regards to the lipstick nipple. You were so on point. Thank you so much for this. Although, I do have one question.. Is the lipstick nipple slanted from the top or bottom? Mine seems slanted from the top side.
Sarah Garcia Congratulations on your son!!!! ❤️ Thank you! Postpartum mommas don't have all the time in the world, so I'm glad you appreciate the brevity!!
Thank you for the video. My nipple is lipstick shape but first 90% of the time it is pain free. I do however experience nipple vasospasm pain after and it is terrible. Any suggestions?
Ah. It’s probably from the end of the feeding when they lose that deep latch. Have you been doing dry heat after we feeds for the vasospasms? Kellymom dot com has a great article on it. Can be as simple as your hand warming your nipple post feed, or hand warmers for sports games, heating pad/sock.
😭 I thought something was wrong because when my baby lets go I have the lipstick nipple. I thought we were doing fine she was swallowing and I was pain free. For days we were trying to do new latching positions... awful... I was about to seriously quit until I saw this. 😭 thank you
Hi mam, I am having the same problem. I didnt feel any pain during feeding but having burning sensation in the medial side of nipple after feeding. What should i do to relieve that
How long can I continue breastfeeding with a shallow latch? My baby is 3 months old and has a shallow latch. I used to be in a lot of pain and we were always finishing with a lipstick nipple. Now the pain is gone but the latch is still shallow. Her weight gain has been good so far but I am stressed all the time thinking that we are not breastfeeding properly.
If you are pain free, have happy (not broken) nipples and baby is growing well, diapering well…then baby’s doing well with their latch. It’s all about your sensations not what it *looks like. My video explaining. ruclips.net/video/R43k6tL5nis/видео.htmlsi=auupU8Fcc5k8qyMa
I never have pain during a latch, but my nipples look like this even when baby doesn't fall asleep. But I have flat nipples so he really has to draw them into his mouth! Should I get it checked out? We do have weight gain issues but I think it's related to some dairy and soy stuff we are working through.
What if I can talk and breath normally, but I feel a a sharp/stinging sensation during and after the feed? It's not severe but a bit uncomfortable. I think the pain is usually where the slant is. And because of breastfeeding issues I started bottlefeeding and now my son doesn't open his mouth wide enough when I try to breastfeed him, and I think he got used to the firmness of the bottle so I think he struggles to latch when he breastfeeds so once he gets it in his mouth it's like he can't feel it.
Sharp or stinging means something isn’t right with the latch. Since moving to bottles, have you tried a nipple shield? Medela, Lansinoh and Mamivac brands are what I use. I also use the 24mm larger size to help have a wider latch.
Thank you so much for your advice and your speedy reply! 🌸 I have the Medela nipple shields and my son doesn't like them. As soon as it goes in his mouth he refuses it.
I naturally have brownish nipple but now they are slightly pink since I stared breast feeding is that normal? Also, how to avoid baby pulling at the end of a feed?
Yes, it turns out it’s totally normal. The pink nipples just was from irritation because of breastfeeding so I tried to put nipple cream and take warm bath to soothe them. The pulling I stopped her by saying a serious no firmly no laughing. She stopped🤷♀️
Ohhhhhhhh okay! Now this make so much sense because I wasn’t feeling any pain and my son was gulping down milk but every time I pull my nipple out it was a lipstick nipple.
This makes so much sense!!!!

It can be slanted in any direction depending on the position of baby and how they slip off while falling asleep.
This is so insightful. Thank you so much ❤ I thought I had a problem that has no solution 😅
Just had my son in March and this is so inspiring thank you! Love your videos you get straight to the point!!! 😊☝️

Can you give the pain a descriptive word(s).

@@dhivyarajendran2985 that sounds like it could be nipple vasospasms which can be brought on by improper latch or positioning.

@@qmr0n Are you slightly inverting it to put it on which helps the suction for it to stay on?
Is it normal to feel pain for the first five seconds or if that the sign of the A bad latch
If it goes away quickly on its own, it's likely ok..

Why do they say your milk supply will suffer if your nipple looks like this? No pain but had the lipstick nipple.
It's a long time mis-understanding of latch.

Feels better to know now right?! 💛
