Thank you so very much for this video! I am just thinking about starting Cyanotype printing and you were so very informative. And your calm, well spoken way is a pleasure to listen to.
Oh, this was exactly what I needed to learn! The only bad thing is that I do not need another crafty hobby... Thank you for the clear instructions and the "rules." I am off to find the paper.
I’m fairly new to cyanotype printing but love it already. I have watched a tonne of YT videos on how to do it but your was by far the best. It was highly informative and incredibly inspirational too. Thanks for taking the time to make it and share your passion and skill!
First time doing cyanotype printing. I bought the chemicals, but the instructions are in French only! I watched a lot of YT videos and this video is by far the most helpful and informative! I subscribed to your channel to watch more of your videos. Thank you for this amazing video!!! 💐Marnel🇨🇦
Ah this is a lovely comment- I am so glad I can help! I also do regular videos on Instagram and TikTok where I talk about printing with tips and tricks. I think I actually need to update this video - goal for this year!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! Yes, the dried flower collection is actually quite addictive! So many things are blooming now that I have had to make some large flower presses to dry them in.
Lovely video, Daisy. One tip I could offer is check the frame you use does not have glass treated with UV protection as this will drastically reduce the success of the exposure. This is one of the few instances where the cheaper option is usually the better one.
Ps You are so lucky with your South African sun - it is so wonderful for cyanotypes ☀️. In Northern Scotland we need a little more patience to get the same results as you do. Still worth it though!
Excellent video! I had already started doing cyanotype so I’d already made a lot of similar discoveries, including deciding to dry flowers and leaves to re-use and to be able to use flat, but yours is definitely the most thorough video I’ve seen to date.
Thank you so much! Yes, I felt the need to share what I knew because I found it tough to find any thorough info on RUclips, which is the place I come to learn. Glad you liked it!
Thank you so much for making this video. I’ve started pressing plants to make prints. I feel more confident in the process now. And who would have thought teasel would be so pretty? 😄
Thanks so much Daisy! I loved the great ideas concerning the drying of plants. I am going to share this video with my high school art students in New Orleans.
Thanks for sharing you knowledge and experience. I have just received a Jacquard cyanotype kit and you have provided me with some great information and I can’t wait to experiment, we are in our winter here and it is a little overcast so I think I might wait for the warmer and sunnier weather to print.
Thank you so much! I dried so many daffodils this year so that I could press them. Such gorgeous plants, aren't they! Thank you for commenting, much appreciated!
Hello Daisy! I enjoyed this! I plan to do a nature study activity using cyanotype paper and had a question about after you rinse the paper. If I expose the rinsed paper to the sun will it continue to process or have I rinsed off the chemical that makes the paper do that? I ask bc we’ll be doing this in a park where I will have access to to a bathroom for darkness but wondering if after we rinse the paper if they take it outside it will get exposed. Thank you!
Unfortunately too many people think art isn't technical and knowledge based, but all just spontaneous feelings and magic. Obviously not the channel or activity for you. Just buy stuff and learn from all your mistakes instead. Problem is, if you don't have the patience to watch a short video, you're likely discouraged by the inevitable mistakes you'll make not listening to people who share their tips and technique.
That dandelion standing and not pressed was genius!

I hope you found some paper, I do sell the paper online if you want some nice quality handmade paper!
I would love a followup video on doing this on fabric. I am a Master Gardener, I'd love to be able to wear some precious natives!
Very well done tutorial. I am just starting with Cyanotype so this was exactly what I needed!
Glad it was helpful!

Super helpful! What paper is best to use? Thank you Louise
Great tutorial
Which book/document did you take the toning samples from? Did you create them yourself?
Thank you so helpful
Where can I get a chart like what you show on how to tone the colors with tea, etc.?
It's beautiful...wat paper has to be used?? Any watercolor paper will be ok??
100 percent cotton watercolor paper is best.
What paper do you use and how does one prepare it?
Will you be doing wet Cyano with the soap suds?
I have seen others doing it and it looks interesting I just haven't had a chance to experiment with that yet.But I will at some point!
Where did you get roller brush?
I’m lost! Pretty work though confusing video
❤️❤️
😊😊
Podrías poner subtitulos en español?🙏 gracias
When you got to the “put your prepared paper down” you lost me. How do you prepare the paper and with what?
That's not a bucket but a basin
It's not a basin, it's a bowl.
30 minutes bla bla bla zzzzzzz

"wear gloves".....but yet you made a mask and wear it on yoyr face 😂
Good point - the gloves are for those who don't want colour on their hands (which is rare) or if they have sensitive skin.
