Hey Ben, I would kill for a video of you breaking down some pro tools sessions from Lightning at The Door. The ambience and layers on that record have always sounded so interesting to me and I would love to see whats actually happening on those tracks.

I have S Gear myself. I had it when it originally came with the Slate Digital bundle and then when they got rid of it, I had to buy it. What I liked about it years ago was it didn’t have the digital harshness that a lot of the earlier amp Sims had. Also, as someone who has a very hard time, designing presets from scratch, it came with a lot of really useful presets right out of the box as opposed to like the 11 rack that I had, where all the presets were overly compressed sounding, and very bright and brittle. With the S Gear, you really have to put in a lot of work to get anything to sound bad.

You should definitely do a video of some your playing techniques. Some of your minor pentatonic licks and some of those badass blues/jazzy chords.

Great demo of a small fraction of the capabilities of this sim. Love your playing!
I have spent several weeks of evaluating software amp sims lately and also ended up with S-Gear. Love at first tone 🙂🥰
This amp sim just "feels" right to me while playing. It makes me forget that I am not using an amp but a sw simulation. Beautiful piece of software by a former Marshall hw developer.

Absolutely awesome demo. I've tried a ton of amp sims too and S-Gear is the only one that fells and sounds right to me although the PRS ones are close.
FYI, the Jackal is based on a Soldano SLO-100. The Duke is indeed Dumble inspired. The Wayfarer is a mix. The cleans are definitely Fender. More Deluxe with the bright switch in one position and more Twin in the other (I mean the bright toggle left of the graphic EQ, not the one on the amp itself). The Lead I channel is a hot rodded Fender and Lead II is Mesa Boogie inspired.

Tried guitar rig, lie 6, amplitube, bias fx and the s-gear is the only one that gives you the touch and feel of playing thru an amp. The features are a little lacking compared to the others but I'd rather have that great s-gear tone. It's the only amp sim tried that doesn't take a long time to get a great tone thru my studio monitors. My amps are sitting in my studio rarely played now I'm spending most of my playing time in the computer room. Excellent video and great playing Ben.

Great demo. S-Gear always sounds smoother than most sims to me. Doesn't seem to have the harsh stuff happening at 3k and 6k if I had to guess. Thanks for not doing an only high gain all the time demo. Plus your high gain stuff sounds tons better than what I typically hear in high gain sim demos. Very nice.

Love the video man. From what I understand you had a big role in engineering and producing ATW albums. The albums sound amazing and I’m a huge fan of you guys. As a gear nerd I would I love to see a breakdown of the gear you guys use, pre amps, mics, compressors, all that good stuff. As well as some of your recording techniques. I’ve seen you guys a few times and spin your records regularly. Thanks and I can’t wait for the new album!

Hey nice video!! Would you mind sharing how you are able to record this live demo? I've been going nuts trying to figure out how to do screen recordings inside my DAW using S-Gear. I've tried Voicemeeter, OBS, etc...I haven't been able to figure out the solution 😫

This is the same Ben Mcleod that plays Statesboro Blues note for note??? 🤞🤞🙏🙏
If so, that was insane! You nailed it! #HittinTheNote #ABB4EVER #SKYDOG
I bet if you put up a vid of your hands playing that, you'd get more than a few vids. Many of us would LOVE to learn it and for me, watching & hearing slide is the best way. 🤞🎸I've only been learning to play for 8 months so I'm probably getting ahead of myself on that one lol! Duane is the entire reason I picked up a guitar. "Loan Me A DIME" got me. BIG TIME.
Edit: just saw the longer Songbirds vid. I knew you were a Duane-head. I could tell by the way you were #HittinTheNote on Statesboro Blues 😎 So am I lol. So, much that my Dad even gave me Duane's middle name as my middle name. 😁 So being a Duane-head runs in my family lol. Been listening to him all my life, since Sept '81 😁👍

Hey Ben! Was this used on the song Rob's Dream from the album ATW? Just wondering/kind of curious because Roy's Dream is very similar to Rob's Dream and I thought it might just be a random coincidence. Or maybe there is more behind it. Love your guys music. Wish I could of seen ya'll in Nashville for the Halloween show but some stuff happened and I can't go. I'll see you in Baltimore on Dec 4th and in Philly on December 5th!

As probably THE twin reverb aficionado, what do you think of the modelling on the new Tonemaster Twin? I've always wanted to get a twin because of your playing + sound but got damn they're bulky and loud.
Also why'd you remove the pillow case / graphic cloth off your twin?

  • @JC-11111

So, when are you gonna pick up a Dickey Betts "One Brother To Another" signature SG? LOL! I believe those are the ones modeled after Duane's '61 that you played. And then Derek Trucks' Signature SG is a modified version that guitar.
