- Welcome back to Continental Club where today we are back in the East Dulwich Tavern to pick our underrated World Cup XI.
Who do we choose to start in goal; Morocco's Bono, Netherlands' Noppert or perhaps Poland's Szczęsny? And with Argentina, England, France, Brazil and Croatia, all having solid tournaments, who do we choose in defence, midfield and attack. Does Harry Maguire make it? Is Mateo Kovacic a nailed on starter and which of Ounahi and Amrabat deserve a spot in our XI!
What's more we also make our predictions for France vs Argentina on Sunday!

@@EuroFootballDaily Brozovic is their engine. The most important player after Modric, Brozovic is fundamental for Croatia. Much more so than Kovacic, and I love Kovacic. But Brozovic is World Class.
For this tournament, with a weaker attack, Croatia used their midfield to hold the ball which cannot be taken from them, with Brozovic as the centerpiece. Kovacic’s role was to be more dynamic offensively.
Brozo has the ability for brilliant long balls and crosses, but tactically he was asked to maintain possession and shorter passes. He also has goals in him as well. Brozovic covers ground like a machine, as he broke his own World Cup record for distance from 2018. He was near as vital and strong as any midfielder in Qatar.
The one goal Sofiane Boufal did score for So'ton, was a goal of the season contender solo goal. Starting from his own half, dribbling past 5 or 6 opponents and scoring.
Nah mate, all the (few) goals he scored were pretty much bangers.

Sofyan Amrabat had a really good tournament. Was good defensively and passed out the back under pressure during Portugal game
He was in the best team because he hasn’t been underrated
Pele was injured throughout the 1962 WC I think he made 2 appearances and got injured… Garrincha carried in that tournament with Vava
Yes and also 1970 brazil was so good that pele (play great) cant get all the praise for that one. Even without pele, brazil would have win 1970.
For the leftback position I think Acuna is a good shout.
Ounahi will be sold for a lot of money, and will play for a club like Juventus pretty soon, on the basis of his showing in this tourney alone. So calling him underrated right now, is a bit of a misnomer.
Wouldn't mind putting him in the team of the tournament even, but then one would have to exclude Amrabat, which would be a crime. That tracking back run and tackle of prime Mbappe, is something that will be shown for future generations in World cup highlight reels right next to Cannavaro's sliding tackles from 2006.
Tim Ream was the most underrated defender hands down. Wasn't even supposed to be there and ended up being one of the US' best players

Aboubakar of Cameroon for me had a great world Cup and very underrated. Always mind him from football manager 15 I always signed him from Porto to I recall bagged me 47 goals 1 season up front for Southampton to win me the league and grab Europe's top marksman

Pulisic deserves a shout for me personally 1 goal 2 assists and 2 MOTM awards were great but more than stats he was a joy to watch this tournament
Morocco left back Yahia Attiyah Allah was underrated even by his own national team manager. I thought Mazraoui should have been benched sooner to let him play, since the Bayern man wasnt fully fit. Transfermakt value of €1,5 million only is a joke. Get him a transfer from Casablanca to Europe asap!

if tchouameni is not underrated bc he’s now well known and plays for madrid, then how is kovacic there ? he’s certainly an amazing player but everyone already knows that, don’t rly see how he’s underrated in any way

I think going forward from this World Cup we will realize just how huge of a loss Mike Maignan was to France. He really is the perfect keeper to martial this new generation of French players (Tchoua, Kounde/Saliba/Konate/Theo, Thuram/Kolo-Muani, etc.) and once he does return to the French side I agree with you guys that Lloris should step aside and let Maignan become the leading figure from between the sticks from there on out!
Some Irish, Scott or Welsh pundit has to do an overrated team ott, so some English players can be included as well.

Juranovic made some pretty big mistakes in positioning prior to his excellent Brazil showing. In one occasion he messed up the offside trap as the far side fullback to the ball, which should never happen to a top defender. It happens every week in a top league to a Luke Shaw caliber player, but a defender making such a basic mistake, is not the underrated/best xi in WC worthy.

The fact that they don't even mention Emi "Dibu" Martinez is just prove how underrated the guy in this tournament, yes he doesnt save as much as livakovic but all his save are potential last minute screamer, even save 2 penalties against the dutch.
true but he also has an extremely low save percentage. Pretty sure its the worst in the tournament by a large amount.
