The ending was such a relief in a way! And much to Monk's surprise, knowing about Trudy's daughter and how he was glad to meet her. Ah! Monk is the best television series ever made. Don't know how many times I've watched the whole series.
@@gisellechausse5261 It was kinda Emotional during the end of the show, He was so excited being with Molly all the time. And yeah! Sharona getting married with Randy was another best thing happened in the show. I wish it lasted for another 2 or 3 more seasons.
Like Andy Breckman put it: It was a challenge to solve the Trudy case. Never thought he has to explain why Trudy was murdered. The story is great. And I am so reliefed that Monk hast a happy ending with a very beautiful song too. "Yes, we miss you Mr Monk."
Now we know why Judge Ethan Rickover would not move from his house, Rickover was afraid that after he moved, new owners would want to remove the sundial, find the remains of the missing midwife and nail him for murder, well, murders.
I was initially disappointed about the motive. It seemed so petty and I always imagined that - like many other shows - there would be a great conspiracy behind the show's big mystery. But then the pure genius of it hit me. Not only has the shoe featured many other crimes with similarly petty motives, establishing how people kill for greed et al. But it also helps to explain why Monk could never figure out the truth. He must have considered all sorts of theories, but it might not have occured to him that Trudy had to die for a "job".
I know monk was likely glad he’s dead, but a part of him is also angry that he may never be able to ask more questions he had. A bittersweet part of solving the case, but Trudy has been avenged
One of my favorite shows and one of the few that had a perfect ending. He's not only finally at peace but he has a stepdaughter to look after and tell about Trudy. Beautiful
Monk didn’t get revenge. He got closure. And Rickover was a coward right to the end. He was too cowardly to be a father to his illegitimate daughter, too cowardly to face public scrutiny of his dalliance with Monk’s wife, so cowardly that he tried to talk Monk out of threatening him with a handgun, and too cowardly to go to jail for his crimes. What a sorry example of a federal judge.
The man is too good with details to put a loaded gun near a man whom was just proved guilty. He definitely killed him, without having to pull the trigger.
If you think about it, Wendy Stroud was why Trudy died. If she never told Rickover that she was gonna tell everyone about him and trudy then maybe he wouldn’t have wanted them killed
@@ΑΡΙΣΤΟΤΕΛΗΣΛΑΧΑΝΟΠΟΥΛΟΣThe judge said it himself. Stroud found Jesus and became a devout Christian. She wanted to give him a chance to repent and admit his evil deeds and withdraw from public life. Unfortunately, people don’t work like that.

You know. I never finished this series. And I had just happened to come accross a description of the lead up to the ending. And after all these years, I'm glad that the writers went this way, the ending deserved. I'm thinking about re-watching the series now.
Monk always wished to find Trudy’s Murderer now he finally got his wish and Monk would do anything to get Rickover Monk has ocd so he usually doesn’t do a lot of things even when he fights but when he fought someone involved with Trudy’s death or Jokes about her he won’t hesitate to give them a beating he beat up Steven for joking about her he beat someone who was involved with her death and earlier in this episode he beat up Rickover after his insult Trudy means a lot to Adrian that he would do things he wouldn’t usually do. in a side note it’s ironic that The actor plays a murder and he plays Bob a superhero from the incredibles
I always thought this was butter sweet. On the one hand Monk finally finds the guy who ended his wife but the sad part is that he won’t face any kind of justice since he took the coward’s way out.
What we missed was one of the judges buddies throwing the case out because the evidence was improperly found, thus the judge got off, and got to continue sitting on the bench.
@@elimDBZ *most* young women do in those scenarios? A teacher encounters hundreds of students over the years, in some cases we're talking thousands of students. The teacher having affairs with a handful of those students does NOT amount to *most* young women. As for Trudy...yeah...she was young and gullible and fell for the charms of a self-assured, powerful man. Pure conjecture here: I believe a very insecure Trudy fell for the confidence of a seasoned, older man, who may have said ALL the right things. She realizes all too late, that underneath that charm and confidence, Rickover has a very dark and sinister heart. Later, having deeply regretted everything that had happened, she met Monk...a man who wore his insecurities on the surface, but underneath all that, was a heart of gold. Monk represented the opposite of a Rickover. Rickover was a man who told lies easily and used them to manipulate. Monk sorted through the lies and discovered the truth of what happens. Monk exposes the manipulators and liars. To Trudy, Monk is the hero she deserves, though he doesn't seem like the one she needs!
@@victorpradha9946 that is a huge rant for some small wording. A good chance the scenario they are referring to is after they got together not before. I hated this ending. Trudy should have come back from witness protection. They were not consistent about the way she died. They could have let her come back to Adrian.

No joke, I probably watched it like 60 times lol
They definitely did the series justice with this ending, a rare thing these days
I absolutely agree with you, endings to good TV shows now a days seem rushed and poorly written. This was a great send off for monk.

Funny thing is that Monk would've never figured it out if the killer had simply built something like a bird bath instead.
Seem he deliberately put that gun on the sundial than rather give it to the captain, genius. He got what he wanted without even trying.
Now we know why Judge Ethan Rickover would not move from his house, Rickover was afraid that after he moved, new owners would want to remove the sundial, find the remains of the missing midwife and nail him for murder, well, murders.
Tonight I'm the judge! Never get enough of these two episodes 😭
Judge: "Welp, guess I'll die!"
Interesting callback to when Monk asked if Stottlemeyer wanted Disher to hold the Captain's firearm...
"You think I'll use it?"
"I would."

I really believe this show is one of the greats. Thank you to all involved :)
Still can’t believe Mr. Incredible would do something like that.
Murdering Luigi’s wife…for shame
Shocking to see Coach Fox murder someone
Rickover: I THINK BOTH OF US ARE GOING TO BE DEAD BY MORNING.
Well, Rickover was right about himself, he was wrong about Monk though. 🤷♂️
This would have gone way differently if he'd go with a bird bath. That's at least two cases Adrian solved thanks to a sundial!
Anyone else has the theory that Monk put the gun there on purpose knowing that Rickover would commit suicide ?

Monk knew he was going to do that that's why you placed the gun there.

That was the PERFECT crime , how was that possible if he could hide that secret for twelve years and it is not the perfect crime ? Like how ?
