    One of the best VH songs ever and an incredible message dedicated to KC!! It’s like early 80s VH meets grunge!

    🤘🤘 First time I heard the opening riff I though Ed was using a violin bow or something. Love it !

      Yea, it is such a great sound he got. He's muting the string with his pinky and scraping the string with the pick. Genius.

      I 'think' from an interview if I remember correctly. Originally it was the edge of a quarter, thus producing that unique sound ;) the knuckles in it rather.

    Awesome! I mean... anything Van Halen 4 sure! But you always bring a nice touch to it, & put a little something of your own on it - while still maintaining the "Van Halen" element. You rocked it.

    Your playing and tone are great, but… wow that might be one of the best looking guitars I’ve ever seen. I love that thing!

    This one works well as in instrumental. I like the liner notes you add here and there. Also always enjoyed that subtle pick scraping intro. For some reason it's not a genius move, but I had never heard anyone use it before. Once again, Ed was the man!

      It really does. I think it was be so damn cool if VH would release every single VH song with no vocals. Damn that would be great!!

      @@TheRetroGuitarist You can get an idea by running a song through RipX or similar software... You can isolate, slow down or delete any instrument or vocal; a great helper for me when it comes to learning something.

    • @TheRetroGuitarist
      @TheRetroGuitarist  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yea, this is what I do to remove the guitar from the mix. I isolate the drums, bass, and vocals then play all the guitar part(s) and finally remix it. It's a LOT of work but I love the mixing part of this as well.

    Thanks for covering the Van Hagar material man.
    As a teenager I thought Van Hagar sucked and Roth was better.
    In hindsight I think Roth got a lot of help from Don Landee and Ted Templeman, and in the long run Hagar delivered better quality over time with the live performances and still great records.
    Undeniably, if I had to say who made the better albums, I'd say it was with Roth, but I'd have to mention with Ted in the driver seat. If you asked me who I'd wanna see live: it'd be Van Hagar.

      No problem! This is where my VH history really started so I always will love the Hagar stuff.

    Great song, but the weird thing I always remember with this one was the (irrelevant?) music video having a cut-down version. It just wasn't the same, and it was annoying and pointless. Worse with the radio edit of "Humans Being". The mainstream music industry just was too rushed and didn't seem to know what it was doing. (That and every label pumping out greatest hits ad nauseum in the '90s kinda annoyed me.)

    • @TheRetroGuitarist
      @TheRetroGuitarist  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yea, I HATE when they do shorter versions of songs. After about 1998 the music industry was controlled by about 5 people. Rick Beato talks about this in one of his videos and while it is nuts to hear what happened, it all makes so much sense.
