Legends Of The Dark Knight is the best and most consistent Batman title, in my opinion. I also like Shadow Of The Bat where the characters are explored psychologically.
I'm actually reading through this series now and I really appreciate how much more mature and boundary-pushing this series was compared to the mainline series' at that same time in the early '90s. (Also, "Prey" was incredible -- I would absolutely watch an animated movie of that.)
This is essential for someone like me who reads omnis - you're putting me on to some storylines that may or may not be collected *you provide info on which is* and I get to learn comic history. Ur da best!
I know this is one of your older videos but I love the idea behind it. The actual stories are often left behind and it always about the collectibility. It is great to know why I should collect them. Thanks for sharing.
I love Snow that has to be hands down my favorite, followed by Blink. Those 2 were the best, only because I wasn't a huge collector of Legends of the Dark Knight. 😀
I feel like LotDK really pulled off the best of both worlds when it comes to continuity: if you're familiar with the canon it fills in gaps and adds context but the stories mostly work on their own for those with only a passing familiarity with the characters (which is pretty much everyone).
Totally agree! I feel like it included enough baseline canon to build stories off of but then allowed creators to add to the canon in a truly mythological way. In a sense, you as a reader can sort of pick and choose what literally happened versus what is being told with "embellishment". The first hundred issues or so is almost what I wish every A list would get a treatment of. Genuine artistry over corporate, toe-the-line hackery. And also the closest that a concept like Elseworlds ever got to a regular monthly series. One of my first ever comics was the two-parter "Mask" and it cemented my love of comics and Batman! :D
Awesome video!! Love it! I'm wondering why why why DC Comics has not put this series out in an omnibus. It makes sense to do so because of these wonderful stories about the Batman. Anyway, I've started to read these in digital format but I'd rather have in physical form. Thanks.
I know I’m way late on this video, but my brother just gave me a box of comics and a large chunk of them are the Legends run. Looking forward to going through them!
Wow watching this makes me wanna go back and read more of this series. I dropped off of it trying to catch up with rebirth era titles on the DC Universe app. I’m gonna have to jump back in this series. Awesome video
I wish these were more readily available as collected editions. If one wants to collect and read Snow, like I do, it's basically impossible to do so, unfortunately.
Legends was one of my favorite series. In college I worked at a comic store. before then Id pick up books here and there, maybe read something someone told me about. For example the green arrow Longbow series. The only stuff I really collected heavy was marvels gi joe, and the nam and vintage horror and sgt rock. But i got deep into these... As well as DC Vertigo titles.
I liked how it was always little pockets of great stories. I also really like the Batman confidential line. I think there was like 50 issues there and it followed this formula
So I’m confused about the canons. You said they filled in empty spaces. But some stories are really weird and don’t seem to fit anywhere or just weren’t that important. Thanks for the video!
Awesome video man. Hope u have more that are like this video I watch. This video helps a lot to see if those stories are good and they are and it’s easier for me if they are on Amazon and which collective edition from. I have gothic and venom. I’ll get the rest later on. Keep up a great work on this 🙏🏻
These are honestly my fav videos to make because it's fun to read and then fun to spread the word. I think my next video or so Is going to be how underrated the "Batman Confidential" run was
i do want the get the trades of the stories that are collected but i also want to buy all the original issues since that seems possible unlike most batman series since it was only around for 18 years instead of almost a century like batman or detective since even though I'm more of a collected edition guy i would like to have a full set of issues of a few series
@@MintHunterComics Here's the thing. In Batman #430 a year before the gothic storyline debuted we get a story that explains Bruce as a child wanted to play with his father but his father was so stressed out by everything that was going on in his business he by accident hit Bruce. His father felt horrible for it and tried to apologize but Bruce was so scarred by it he actually said he wished his dad were dead. Bruce then immediately felt bad for saying it and his dad decided to take Bruce and his mother out to see the Zorro movie and that was the night his parents died. In gothic it's said that Bruce and his parents went to go see Zorro because Bruce returned home from private school. If you ask me the one from Batman 430 is way more tragic and adds an extra bit of sadness to his parents death. The one from gothic is just nothing really.
The fact that DC doesn't keep these in print is downright criminal.
There’s a lot of great arcs in this run. I’d love to see LOTDK get the Omnibus treatment one day.
Agreed I’m shocked it hasn’t already tbh
Matt Wagner’s run and work on Batman as a whole did get an omnibus. I would highly recommend it! Most of his work was done in LOTDK.
Legends Of The Dark Knight is the best and most consistent Batman title, in my opinion. I also like Shadow Of The Bat where the characters are explored psychologically.
Dude it really is! ugh and so many people have no idea!
Absolutely love the Prey and Terror stories. Hugo Strange is exceptionally well done in those!

I'm so glad you found this video and are able to check out these reads! what an awesome comic run
I know this is one of your older videos but I love the idea behind it. The actual stories are often left behind and it always about the collectibility. It is great to know why I should collect them. Thanks for sharing.
I think is is one of my best videos I’ve made so thanks for watching it!
I love Snow that has to be hands down my favorite, followed by Blink. Those 2 were the best, only because I wasn't a huge collector of Legends of the Dark Knight. 😀
Snow is a big honorable mentions for this list, same with a lot of the early stories. DOPE run I wish more people knew about!
I just read the first 2 stories and am loving the tone, art and story of this series. Glad I have a lot of great material ahead of me.

Thanks for this, really. It’s an awesome video filled with great resources
Prey. Prey was awesome. Corrupt cop dressing up as the Scourge. Influenced by Strange.
Awesome video!! Love it! I'm wondering why why why DC Comics has not put this series out in an omnibus. It makes sense to do so because of these wonderful stories about the Batman. Anyway, I've started to read these in digital format but I'd rather have in physical form. Thanks.
not just the most underrated...the BEST. there will never be one like it again.
Awesome stories! I never knew much about the 'Legends of The Dark Knight' run, I'll check it out
Ironically it's going to be my 5,000 subscriber giveaway
I wish these were collected. That was a great time for Batman. Great video.
Great video! cool to see so many great stories, shame most people don't know about them
Thanks sis!
You Forgot Duel by Dennis O'Neill, it was a Deep Dreamlike Story that gave us Some Answers to Why Batman does (Not) Kill!
I know I’m way late on this video, but my brother just gave me a box of comics and a large chunk of them are the Legends run. Looking forward to going through them!
GREAT reads, you're going to have a lot of fun
Really cool run, havnt read it all but i really want to.
Great vid covering it too
Hope you enjoy it! It's solid
This has given me so many ideas! Thank you
Wow watching this makes me wanna go back and read more of this series. I dropped off of it trying to catch up with rebirth era titles on the DC Universe app. I’m gonna have to jump back in this series. Awesome video
Thanks Joe! This was a LOT of fun to make. The main run is fun to collect but this stuff is fun to read
Amazing video,very informative!
Ayyy thanks man! Such a great run
I wish these were more readily available as collected editions. If one wants to collect and read Snow, like I do, it's basically impossible to do so, unfortunately.
It is unnecessarily tough isn't it?
I absolutely love Shaman
Me too
Sounds like there just needs to be a series of collected editions for this series, like too many other DC titles.
If they released just 4 omnibuses I think that would cover this run - I wish they'd do it
@@MintHunterComics same, it would be so awesome!

Learned a lot! Great video!

Just ordered the single issues of prey but I didn’t know about the sequel so thanks for that!
What i think Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight Comics did Right, is telling Great Stories with Diverse Art Style!

@@MintHunterComics sure take your time to make it on more series like the video I just watch. I’ll be looking forward to it
Had heard of The Killing Joke before now but now Going Sane is on my radar. Batman and addiction is an interesting topic to explore!
Oh Killing Joke is a MUST. def start there, going sane is a great Batman book to read after reading killing joke
Awesome video!
Thanks baby
What about shaman?
"you'll have to actually pick up an issue to read it"
You underestimate my power
If I'm not mistaken you can find the siege storyline in Tales of the Batman by Archie Goodwin tpb.
Great video dude! Bravo!
Lots of fun to edit! Its not performing that well but ah well, at least it was rewarding
Thankfully, Matt Wagner’s run was collected. It’s great!
Are these comics worth some loot? I still have most of these comics
@6:14 it's not
You know... I feel like I gotta be partial to Faces for some reason...
But then... Going Sane...
Batman Gothic is the best story here

@@MintHunterComics nice
Man I really want dc to make omnis for this run it’s way over due and it’s Batman they are going to make money too
DC should make an omnibus of this series ! They are so lazy!
too bad a lot of these are expensive to get these days.
Get a big batch of reader copies of em nice and cheap
definitely not
Gothic is one of the stories that isn't cannon.
Isn't? did it get retconned?
