Great point/tip/advice at the end of the video about not judging "your gigs heavily about what your dancefloor is like". This is so true there could be all kinds of factors why a dancefloor isn't as full or energetic as some other gigs. I've learned that sometimes no matter how you do your song choices maybe they are just a foot tapping / head shaking crowd, maybe it's the day of the event, maybe people are just not feeling it or maybe there's a personal/religious reason (as in this video). I do wonder why the clients requested a full disco in the first place though. Maybe they could have had some MC, background music and uplighting along with a singer or some other form of extra entertainment. Maybe this could have been suggested with the client beforehand?

It's so true about the dry weddings, they are hard to keep the dancefloor dancing. I DJ in NC also, and have had 1 or 2 like this. They are much more hard mentally. Thanks for all your great videos, and the time you put in.

Glad you mentioned something about the amount of people on the dance floor. Some Small Weddings are hard to entertained. I had a wedding in one of my gig logs where the bride and groom who were an older couple shared their story to me in our meeting and that the Groom was ill. So day of wedding came everything was perfect (Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, Dinner, Cake Cutting, Garter and bouquet) Then opened up the dance floor and only just a few people dancing. Everyone knew of the Groom's case so it felt heavy in the room. And some youtube mobile dj comments and bashes me for being a horrible DJ and he's talking about how he's all that about his gigs etc. Some Gigs are really not dancing crowds. I've had Wedding Gigs which were super fun just because the Bride and Groom were killing it on the dance floor like how it should be. But anyways you just earned yourself another subscriber man. I just literally came across your channel!
How long are your iec cable for hex light and speakers?
I recently decided to add 4k video of the DJ's perspective of events to my upcharge options. ( I bought a Zoom Q2n, which allows me to plug directly into my audio source ) What's your thought on this, since you already make shorter videos of the weddings you do? I also produce music, so I also create custom grand entrances for my bride and groom as an option as well, just to set myself apart from the competition. Also does that Alto Stealth wireless signal drop out on you at all or is it reliable? I'd like to make my speaker setup wireless.
I threw the alto stealth in the trash after this event. So many drop outs. And video isnt a bad add on. I am not bother to do it though

Great advice about labels, all my equipment is labelled and as you say let’s everyone know it’s yours! Sometimes background is what they want and your right to explain that DJ’s that are new it will happen. Does that take you up to 6 FX Wash 2’s? 😎🎧👍🏻

Hey Rick! Still rollin with these WashFX on the regular? I’m just now getting serious about switching to them. Because they’re BRIGHT, can be top speaker mounted which uses less trussing, today less is more. I’m over the color pokaDots/motion derbie.

I'd say you should've put more info on those stickers that go on your gear. I don't know, if it's just me, but at the moments those stickers just look like some "fan swag" that got given out somewhere and which was stuck on some piece of equipment. I'd say you should maybe have a sticker that has the company logo, then the full name typed out and maybe some contact info, either a website, email address or a 'shop location'. I too work in the equipment rental business and this is just a tip that I can give you :)

I have a question about the Wash FX 2 lights... in sound active mode, do they blackout when the music stops or drops in volume? I had some Chauvet FX Array Q5s & Swarm Wash Fxes that did that. My only complaint about a lot of Chauvet lights is that they essentially turn off when there’s a pause in the music.
There are multiple sound active modes but a believe is does do what you said decreasing in brightness when music stols

idmystuff.com is good for labels, affordable and they won't rub off over time like printer labels. Been digging the gig logs and watching you scale your business! One thing I've started saying in that buffet announcement is I or they will "invite" your tables to the buffet. I think release and dismiss don't sound as friendly. I'm sure you tweak the script to perfection as much as I do. Go bobcats! 🐱

You have great gear, and do nice work, but I can't handle watching you commercialize people's most special day by sticking your logo center stage.
Your thinking into to is to much. Its 2019/2020. They recognize branding is everything. And most people take pride in hiring our company similar to how you buy a car and it has badges all over it but you take pride in having a fancy Mercedes or Audi badge. Same concept
Having advertising on items we pay for is major companies way of marketing. Our industry is very personal, and weddings especially, are centered around the client. We have the option to keep it personal or make it commercial. If you want to advertise, why not lease area on the dancefloor to ADJ, Pioneer, and QSC? Make it look like a UFC octagon, with Burger King in the middle. And even if you do consider your business to be the Mercedes of DJ businesses, you can still do better by making the couple the center of attention.
I have to agree. The caterer, florist, photographer don't advertise their name. We need to remove our branding from weddings. Your best advertising comes from doing a good job and the bride recommending you. If someone wants to hire you, they will ask for a business card.

Well he does some fairly large gigs. And has I think 2 other DJ's that work under the FSL name
My company does about 50% production and 50% mobile events. Everything you see gets used regularly.
