Another commenter didn’t seem to like the tempo fluctuations, but I thought the “drunken” feel of the waltz was quite seductive and enthralling

11:30 is awesome, I never expected a piano to do the original trumpet solo justice but here we are 👏

Amoroso sounds freaky instead of pristine and beautiful… I just wonder why Sergey Sergeyevich added those extra accidentals into the glimmering accompaniment for the last few minutes

Смотрите в другом видео на балетное действие в этот момент. Прокофьев ничего не писал просто так, от избытка дурной фантазии.

Extra accidentals? This Amoroso is one of the most sublime and lyrical pieces ever written. It’s just pure magic! Mind you, this is not the best recording of this piece. Also, try listening to the orchestral version! I recommend the version conducted by Rozhdestvensky.

Chiu is one of today's best pianists . My question is why did Prokofiev chose these selections from the ballet. They're not of interest. As a child my mom played these 78's for me . One was Cinderella with Music from Prok's opera and all of it was memorable . The voice jumping and part -writing and harmonies here are of interest to me only because I'm a musician and composer .Chiu's sensitivity to the score and musical liveliness save it all and he really knows Prokofiev's style his phrasing and shaping of phrases tells us everything. I heard him in the 6th Sonata he knows what Prok is about ! I'm still waiting to hear something from my 6 year old or 7 year old days . The 4 hour War and Peace with Galina Vishnevskaya I brought as a records in the 80's never listened to much of it now I can watch the opera w/Hrorstovsky . We'll see . I had the Romeo and Juliet with Gilels or Weissenberg don't remember and it was always interesting . This is a real chore;however his touch in the 17th minute slow music is incredible like Ingrid Haebler's so nonpercussive and full . The dreamy -drugged -nausea music at the end a treat but why would Prok put these pieces together for the home music maker.Incredible mystery to me !Oh this is the last set . A total bore . I'll have to find the other sets . I 'm glad I just saw Sheep's note, I def. started at the wrong end . Dont want to waste 20 minutes again with this last set ofmusic .

I think you just don’t appreciate the works to enjoy it. That’s fine

Not of interest? I think Prokofiev thought otherwise but I guess you understand Prokofiev better than he does

very weird tempo fluctuations and some wrong notes, while other notes added that are not in the score... what a weird performance
