My father had a friend named Jim Beam, a DJ in New York. He would come home with all sorts of demo records, crates full. Reel to reel tape decks, turntables. I was only 15 but I had the time of my life spinning those records with my friend Chucky. Listening to songs that would become hits or that would never be heard again, it was an amazing time. Well, dad is on his death bed, only a few days left and Chucky jumped in front of an R train in Brooklyn on 12.02.19. You think the good times will last forever, and then you think at least you can have the people you love in your life forever, but life has other plans. My heart is heavy and I need to escape back to the 80's if only for a little while.

The one and only original WKTU. Not that bullcrap one we have had for whatever years it's been on. 92 WKTU was on radio it was one of the Greatest radio stations ever. I remember when was a kid back in them days. long live 92WKTU. Thank GOD for them.

I remember PACO ! I used to record his mixes when I was as young as 10 years old. Those were the DAYZZ
Paco Navarro (WKTU-FM) died on Aug. 8 at a hospice facility in Saddle River, N.J. He was 82. - I grow up with his music. May he rest in peace.
May he rest in peace, I wish I was around this time to listen to his mixes, he was great.
Nuff Respect to everyone at the original 92KTU, and thanks a million for posting these mixes! In retrospect, the station and its crew of DJs and presenters were true pioneers of the dance music scene in New York City, at a time when the city's music scene truly mattered and turned out to have global impact.
We should absolutely praise people such as Paco, Aldo, The Dynamic Duo, Latin Rascals, Stuart Best, etc. for exploring and showcasing so many wonderful groundbreaking tracks, thus helping to give underground music an outlet and at the same time creating a scene which continues to live on!
I cannot deny that the early 80's NYC club music were, and continues to be, a huge source of inspiration for me, and has played a huge part in my pursuit of a DJ career. That inspiration has never left me, and even though I was fortunate enough to live through that period and experience the dawn and golden age of Electro firsthand, I will never stop looking for the perfect beat!
Aldo, Paco, Latin Rascals, Stuart Best, The Dynamic Duo, Animal Diaz, Ted Currier, Ralphie Dee et. al. We thank you!

I've met Paco in person at Roberto Clemente Park. My girlfriend (at the time) and I came in 3 rd place in a kids disco dancing contest. WKTU was broadcasting that day. I think it was the grand opening of the park. Paco had me speechless. 8O

I"ve mixed along side Aldo Marin a few times back in the day. Many late nights on the turntables and editing block just to sell tapes in the hood to friends and fans. Washington Heights, Inwood & Dyckman Street in the house! .....I'll never forget the famous old "Music House" record shop hang out that is! Always in my 💓

Blue Monday by New Order is one of biggest hits in 1983 in early days of WKTU and it first played in the New York City dance clubs back in the day of the year of 1983.

The music when I was 10 years old from the radio station in New York with WKTU. There are some new wave classics of Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Madonna, Yaz, and a lot of the others. And also classics from Depeche Mode and also New Order, many other artists back in the 1980’s. The a lot of artists played on 91x in San Diego first aired in January 28th of 1983, with disc jockeys Mad Max and the others. And KROQ was aired in 1977 in Los Angeles with a lot of the punk and later the 1980’s with a lot of the new wave/ synth pop music.New York was diverse of the many music genres in the past. The stations played a lot of the old school freestyle music back in the 1980’s in New York and also in L.A..I loved the 1980’s music. I remember when I hear KROQ music with disc jockeys with Freddy Snakeskin and I also remember Nina Blackwood and Dusty Street. And I also remember Rachelle Donahue was on KROQ and Rodney on the ROQ plays a lot of the L.A. punk scene.

I also remember the first song on 91x, when it aired in 1983 with the song Sex by Berlin with the lead singer Terri Nunn. And I remember the song Blue Monday by New Order heard on this station WKTU on 92.3 and it same does 91x with Steve West.Now Steve West is on Alt 94/9in San Diego. I remember Mike Halleron on 91x in 1986 to 1991 and he was on the 92.5 The Flash in 1993 to 1998. Of course Robin Roth on 91x in so years, when I was growing with in the 1980’s to 1990’s. Mad Max was first on 91x in 1983. I was born in 1973, and remember the time when I was 10 years of growing up new wave / synth pop in the era.

Feels like some cuttings of several mixes brought by Paco, but not as a authentic aired show. Many parts of this mix are known from other mixes by LatinRascals and or DynamicDuo brought by Paco at 92WKTU and on The SaturdayDanceMastermix Show at 98.7WKRS
