Truly. And it just goes to show what a different sport doubles is versus singles. I was trained as a singles player, and I remember what a shock it was when I first tried doubles. You think, “oh it’s so much easier as I have a teammate”. Well, for me at least, that just means you have that much less space on court to move around and to aim for when you hit your shots. And you have to become much more proficient with volleys, which I quickly did when I started playing. Luckily for me, I’m a good tennis player, but I tell you, it was quite the adjustment, and to this day, I’m still much more successful at singles. And this is unlike Jack Sock who is much more successful on the doubles circuit I believe.
Nadal in his early years played a lot of doubles excellently w the same high winning percentage and credit to him for helping win Davies Cup, check your files 😊

I doubt if he gets the same result had he switched playing doubles. Do doubt he will be competitive. But getting in sync with your partner is the biggest challenge in doubles which makes it tougher to beat the top 10 doubles team.

Interestingly, he reached the semis in doubles at the US Open in 2004. He hadn't even won a slam in singles yet. I could be mistaken, but hasn't he won 2 doubles masters titles as well? You can also point out guys like Sock and kyrgios who've won big in doubles. Doubles absolutely is a tweaked environment that offers a slightly different set of challenges to singles. But many elite singles players do actually have skill sets that could adapt well to doubles. Nadal, Federer, and Murray were all pretty great doubles players with Nadal being the best. I still think a lot of top 10 singles players would do great in doubles. Alcaraz would be lethal, Tiafoe would be pretty good as well. Djokovic is good too. Granted right now we have a top 10 full of bad net players, but I don’t agree that a top singles player can’t dominate doubles.

I hate playing with people who play like this whenever I am playing against people like this I ether try and lob over or I drill a hole though them is they are good they would block the drill attempt but if they aren’t good then they just get hit
you have to aim very accurately to hit past them and that will likely lead to the ball going out and wasting points. and good players have good movement at the net so they can likely get to it too

Not how it works, they’re paid on how much money they make through ticket revenue and advertisement sales. The women get what they get through that and so do the men and so do the doubles
