- The Oceanview resort, located at 7201 Ocean Ave, was purchased a few years back by Madison Resorts and is going through a massive renovation, which is breathing new life into the aging motel.
A few months back, the owners of the new Madison Resort purchased the Royal Hawaiian down the street to create the largest resort in Cape May County.
This past week the Wildwood Video Archive stopped by to film the process of their work.
In April the main tower will be opening (the Oceanview side) and in late May we will see the other tower (Royal Hawaiian.

I worked for one summer at the Royal Hawaiian Motel. It was the grand opening and it was beautiful. All the motels were beautiful. I watched the Admiral and the Singapore Motels being built. When the sun was setting and the neon lights lit up the motels it was stunning.
One other thing that is cool is that the official names of the buildings are the "Ocean Tower" and the "Royal Tower" to pay tribute to what was before.
The love you have for the job is priceless thanks so much
Awesome!!! It will most likely be expensive to stay 😢
Yes I definitely think it’s gonna be expensive 😬
I remember staying at the Madison when it was the Admiral in 1968. It was beautiful, only a few years old and even had organized activities and barbecue parties for the guests. The beach side of Ocean Avenue was still vacant all the way up to the Fleur De Lis from the Admiral looking north!
Our family has been staying at the Astronaut on Stockton for over 40 years. So glad to see that the Ocean Side and Royal Hawaiian are being taken care of. The property is looking gorgeous! Thanks for sharing Joey!!!
Great vid Joey! I’m glad to see the new construction done at the Wildwoods and the boardwalk. These hotels look great and will enhance vacation experiences. Doo Wop is a real Do Do for anyone visiting the shore. Brings back memories.
What is the saucer on top being used for?
Oh, I'm loving that tour, my lovey is a commercial GC. The general public typically doesn't get to see that part. I'm excited to see the finished project.
You convinced us. We booked tonight.
Great review & tour. We thank you & the seagulls thank you! ⛱️
I can't wait to get down there and see it 👍🙏♥️😎
Spent many a happy family vacation in the Singapore!
Oh wow this place looks amazing ⛱️🌊☀️
it was fantastic
Nice job! Excellent Channel!
Can’t wait until July!
Have many years of great memories at the Royal Hawaiian! Best pool ever!!! Good luck Madison Resorts and thank you for investing in hotels at the Jersey Shore!
Joey, this is going to be the anchor of Wilwood. Absolutely a wow. Are they taking reservations yet?
It looks great however in a north Wildwood guy. Valet parking i dont understand bit i guess. I find it hard to believe this will be complete in may. But i wish them the best. Support and support our Joey.
Looks nice 👍
Awesome job on the hotel and the Archiving!! Thanks for keeping us informed. Love the detailed videos.
The Ocean Tower is the original Admiral Motel. I stayed there as a kid around 1970-1972. There was a high dive at the pool and its own miniature golf course. We had cannon ball contests off the high dive! Fun times for all!
That lobby reminds me of the old Howard Johnson's that use to be all over NJ. I love it.
I think the fact that you get to use both facilities is awesome!! People will flock to here for "shore" (see what I did there?)
the music during the drone shots, excellent choice.
Late 80s early 90s A lot of these hotels were complete this repair it's good to see in the past 20 years everything being built up
We used to come to the Lampliter Motel every summer in Wildwood Crest when I was a kid, and then I brought my daughter there. I was so sad to see it was torn down. The thing that I don’t like now is all of these gigantic hotels being built meaning tons of people and a lot of noise and traffic.
Thanks!
This was great! I will be in Wildwood in June and I must go and see the Madison Resorts in person!
I have already booked my stay for July and I can't wait to see it!
Ty joey! but i have a question does Wildwood plan to build or renovate anything on the boardwalk?
Wow it came a long way I remember seeing the steel beams last summer. I can’t wait to see the end result.
Spectacular a definite boost to the Crwst
How much you wanna bet that Madison EVENTUALLY gets the building in between too? Wouldn't that make the most AMAZING resort property?
Very nice furnishings and accessories, I question the durability. The original owner of the motel which was the Admiral East then later when sold became the Oceanview. He was a personal friend. He would be delighted what Madison Resorts has done instead of simply demolishing the motel for another condo.
Wow what awesome work looks so good. Thoe one thing is I’m going to miss the old arcade and the mini golf outside of the room.
Thanks Joey! I have stayed next to the Royal Hawaiian at the Astronaut for nearly 50 years. Will be sad to no longer see the Royal Hawaiian sign but glad they are keeping the lava rock and pool island. But you never mentioned the flying saucer on the roof! What are they going to use that for?
12:04 I think the property looks great so far, but I don’t really think that the layout of the rooms is really that innovative/unique. Many motels in Wildwood Crest (specifically, I’m thinking of the Sand Dune Motel which is only a couple blocks from this one) also has a very similar room layout even with a privacy dividing door. Looking forward to seeing the project complete and open to the public.
Thank you Joey however, I’m interested in the price for a family of 2, 3, and 4 with double beds.
I stay at motels with pools on south side so the afternoon sun is not blocked by building.
24:35 Is the sign still for sale? My family has been staying at the Royal Hawaiian for around 30 years and we are definitely interested if it's still available! :)
we're there August '24
That is great but it's going to price the average family out
Very true but still cheaper than Avalon, Cape May, LBI and a lot of Ocean City MD hotels.
Thanks for the tour. When you do a follow up, can we see the round room at the top of the Royal Hawaiian?
The front of the lobby looks a little bit like the old satellite motel from many years ago! What are they pricing the rooms at?
Hopefully you'll see this! I keep seeing so many mixed reviews online and my number 1 concern is that the Royal Tower isn't actually renovated!! Can you confirm?
It's gonn be awesome! I just wonder how overall rates across the island will be with less and less economical accomodations available.
What’s up in the saucer on the second building? If you mentioned it it , I missed it.
I’m looking to stay the weekend before Memorial Day. Will it all be done by then?
0:18 never heard of this casino and resort
Whose friends got the grant? Freemason meeting where and when?
Looks great, and the Wildwoods need newer amenities and better hvac systems. I don't see the white chairs and light grey furniture holding up over time in the living rooms.
9:23 different colors as the "rainbow" rooms? connection? UGH
Probably gonna be out of my price range.
Watt is this
the rooms look like a closet - UGH
I was thinking the same thing. Tiny space w/ foreseeable high rates,no doubt. You’re paying for the view - and to be on the beach, basically
The uniqueness of Wildwood is NOT being preserved it’s gone…developers and spokespeople can spin it anyway they want…. What made Wildwood special to name a few…was it’s large array of themed motels with NEON SIGNS that lit up the miles and miles of streets at night. The finer DETAILS such as the unusual ironwork railings unique to each motel are gone….. most every motel was COLORFUL and KITSCH!
Again, I’m not against progress and redevelopment…. But there “was” only ONE Wildwood including the Crest, in this world….. and the developers and zoning MISSED the mark, and possibly the preservationists too.
I’d rather visit the “Ocean View” or the “Hawaiian” respectively restored…than the generic sounding “Madison”….. very grey and unexciting……as for the “real” palm
trees being brought in…..
….and to my point….Wildwood IS all about the faux palm trees…..🌴🌴🌴
You can keep you motel, I stay in cape may at the La mer & that joint does not compare with it. Room is cheaply done & they think people are going to wow over some appliances that look like 50's styling. I can get that stuff online if i wanted it.
11:52 coffee and watch sun rise? My God, most people get up and hop in the car to fight traffic to get to their 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. job to keep the criminals paid. You look very young to be retired drinking coffee and watching the sun rise - nepotism?
Hey @warningsigns4526! If you can’t say anything good, SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE!
Ah, most people staying here will be on vacation - so hopefully you’re not hopping in your car sitting in traffic instead of enjoying your morning not participating in the rat race…
