Thank you for the history Joey, very interesting. I love that Heather road has history to it,one of the reasons I named my daughter Heather is that I was pregnant on a walk and seeing the sign was confirming to me that If I had a girl that would be her name and it fits her personality and she loves Wildwood.
awww!! That is a great story! Thank you for sharing!
That's a charming story!!
Very nice and interesting video! I never get bored from hearing speak of Wildwood!
Literally your best video ever. Very informative.
Thank you Mark!!!
My folks had a small home on Heather Road in the fifties and early sixties. Lots of fond memories when I was young. I see a comment from donnafromnyc. My family also knew the Von Savages and my older cousin was a very caring friend and protector of their son. Sadly he died young but I got to know him pretty well. R I P Barry. Thanks again for the history Joey.
Crest Tavern. Lower Township. Awesome bar and restaurant. Hello Fitzgerald’s from your firemen friends up north.
Been vacationing in the Crest for years!! 😎🏖🌊
Just for everyone...see Joey's video on the Oceanview Motel and support him in saving the historic lobby! Remember that the lobby building faces out onto Sunset Park and is not only unique now, but very much part of the history of the Crest.
Thank you Donna!!!
so much fun watching your tours and hearing all the history
I stopped being a drinker "drunk"40 years ago, sounds like my kind of town.
It’s not trust me there all drunk kids right down the street from the down is all bars and clubs
Thank you for the "ancient wisdom" i grew up on Cardinal road. Near Wildwood Linen Company and The Pink Flaming, Pt 109, Rotal Flush ships docked. With Cap't Caps and Kurtz 's restaurant
another great video Joey !
Glad you enjoyed it
my family, we spent our summer's at the Monterey Motel our second family.
Love seeing these videos Joey, I remember Dimond Beach when they built it , back then nothing made it work, nice to see they got it going.
I loved Wildwood Crest the history and the memories.
Wow I did not know that from Rambler to Jefferson was filled in! I hope the ocean doesn't try to claim it back! Great history Joey!
haha yea! It's a cool history
What would be really cool is a story on the origin of street names. NWW is numbered, WW has names (that relate to the town's history), and WWC has series names--cities, states, flowers, and nautical (Stanton and Farragut).
I lived on Cardinal in the Crest. The road with the Wildwood Linen Company, and where the Pink Flamingo docked
That was a very good analogy very well said
That video was super interesting. I love watching your channel! Thank you!
This is really good information - thank you for teaching us Joey!!
Great video Joey. My parents bought our house in the Crest in 1948 when I was 2. There wasn't much there when I was younger. I remember Billy's dock had a restaurant and he did the cooking. The food was pretty good. I was told that Billy could have kept his license except for something he did. I don't remember what that was. I also remember when they added the streets below Hollywood.
Very interesting history with the crest. Awesome video as also Joey. I can't wait to hit up wildwood this summer. Hope Randy & fascination is open
He is working on a ton of awesome projects!
Not only a dry town but no Wawa's down near 80 th Street. We usually go down to the nice El Coronado hotel on Mothers day weekend. Year before pandemic took me halve a hour to find a place open to get a lousy hoagie. All but this dump & most hotels were not open yet for the season. Crest is so much cleaner & quieter then Wildwood. Better off with no alcohol sales. Helps keep drunk noisy teenagers away.
Excellent video, very clear and informative. As far as clear goes, the context as well as the quality of video were excellent. Did you get a new camera?
Very informative, Joey. Thank you!
Great information! Thank you.
Thanks Joey for the history lesson.
Love the History Videos! 🇺🇲👍
My family has been vacationing in the Crest since 1958, with two breaks. My mom was friendly with the Von Savages who owned the Beach Waves in the early 1960s to about 1970 and the whole POV of most of the locals was to keep the town family oriented without the hassles of bars and the extra cost of policing. Places like Duffy's on the Lake packed them in without alcohol.
Wildwood and North Wildwood were and are more party places...the Crest was and is family-oriented, quiet and residential. I also think liquor in the Crest would pull down business in Wildwood and their stores and restaurants, just a short distance away. Not to put down either, but there's a difference. I do hope the Crest stays dry--you can always bring your own!
So where the Crest Tavern is that was Turtle Inlet . I wonder if there are any old photos of them filling that in
You should do a video on the Battle of Turtle Guy Inlet
Great job Joe
Crest is the best...... been going there since the 50s
Thank you again, Joey, for staying informed on the crest as well as hotels renovation and other business activities. You certainly put it into perspective. Keep the faith 🙏 on the Oceananic Motel..as always God had the final say 🙏.
No problem! :-) Glad you enjoy my videos! Thanks for the help!
Cool video,!!
Thanks. 😎
The crest tavern is awesome , I miss the bayview
Unfortunately the Bayview really slid in its last years and the restaurant that replaced it never took off. Great spot too...now replaced by houses which is more typical for that area.
Crest Tavern makes a great pot pie.
Not being much of a drinker, I never noticed. Lol! Always assumed the places you mentioned were serving drunks. Great video, Joey. Thank you!
Were you able to finish filming the Shamrock move? I was so hopeful to see it slid into place. Did I miss it?
Interesting😌
Where is the postcard from at 2:17? That house on the right looks FAMILIAR!
What about the Bay View? Was that also part of Lower township?
yes
That was a part of Lower township
There is a strange property line along the waterline there. That last street around the old bay view is Lower township the rest towards the ocean is crest
@@MarkMatthewsNJ It is so strange! lol
The Bayview closed years ago.
I say keep the alcohol out of the Crest!! It makes the area very calm, peaceful, and more family friendly. When I tell people who have never been to Wildwood that the crest is a dry town, they are amazed and go there on vacation with their wife and kids. There are plenty of people who look for places like the crest to vacation in.
Humm. Never thought about that..lol
:-) I'm glad I got to teach you something fun!
Joey do you have any information
on what's happening with the property
across from the Bristal.
Thanks
So if I rent a place for a week, can I drink on my porch? Just curious
of course
How did wildwood end up on the worst city’s in NJ … how is that possible what happened.. I haven’t been since my senior prom in 2001 and would like to go but when AC is ranked 9th worst in NJ AND WILDWOOD IS RANKED 4th that’s pretty scary.
Cape may refuge is pronounced like refhuge
haha thank you!
but there is greens liqure and mudhen
they are in Wildwood not Wildwood Crest
If they make it a liquor town, they will ruin it
Literally quibbling over semantics. Everyone local considers those areas to be the crest.
Wildwood Crest sucks
Why
So does your mom
@@jonsimone3111 ohhhh you got me! 🤣🙄 you must be 10 years old
