@richardturner4074 would be a great experience for Crevar, but I think Davis would beat her pretty handedly at this point. Crevar's ceiling looks to be higher than any female grappler I've seen though, she's still so young yet so good and dedicated/disciplined. She's going to be an absolute terror and I'm here for it!

I don’t really get how under adcc rules the top player gets warned so quickly. The bottom player can just lock on and hold on, not doing much of anything and the top player takes the hit. Disincentivizes top play because they have to use more energy artificially
If I understand they warning competitor that have advantage, that is not correct in my opinion
i agree i was like why are they warning her?? she was defending and looking to attack while maintaining balance, the pace wasn't slow

Someone sitting in guard forever annoys me... There should be a disengagement rule where if this happens they force a reset makes it a tough sport to watch sometimes

I don't know why people watching bjj complain about this, if you want to see takedowns, watch wrestling. Why would they waste time going for shitty takedowns they barely train for when it's submission grappling? It's worse when they do stay on the feet and try for takedowns, they generally suck at them!
Not excited about the guard pulling or inversions in today's BJJ. But I did like that offset guard she was able to get in the 1st and 3rd matches. IMO the 5th match was most exciting bc of the standup.

Sport jiu-jitsu has little to do with fighting. This is why when world-class sport/competition black belts get into MMA, they almost always get beat by low-ranked dudes.
I'm not familiar with no-gi rules, but I thought ADCC was moving passed buttscooting and had preventive measures? Are you really allowed to pullguard with no connection like that?

I would say it is more lame that no one knows how to pass her guard, and all of them are older and more experienced than Helena is. If some can do that it will be more interesting!

Every one of her opponents except the last one missed or outright rejected several opportunities at an easy ankle lock.

She's going to be an amazing role model for so many young girls who have the calling of the warrior within them. Likely already planted quite a few of those seeds just with her trials run.

@@yuleassagai1684 That's just not true. Much less common than in men for sure, but nature isn't simple. It's not even genetically just two sides, all sorts of chromosonal weirdness out there, though it's just few percent of the species. History has plenty of women warriors. They aren't all meant to make families. The execeptions to the rules are always interesting people.

Butt scooting is not a "war art", and making other young girls tap out in a highly controlled environment with a specific ruleset has nothing to do with warfare. She can't compete with any of the men who actually train in her sport, and this sport translates very little to actual warfare anyway.
Most human male sexual dimorphisms are traits specifically for combat. This is why men's upper bodies are disproportionately stronger compared to women than their lower bodies (for weapon use and hand combat). Men's bones are denser, especially in the face and arms (for resisting blunt trauma). Men have quicker reaction times and better hand eye coordination and are very specifically much better at throwing projectiles and calculating projectile trajectories (for throwing rocks/javelins and avoiding incoming thrown weapons). I could go on, there is a very long list of evolutionary adaptations specific to males that prove combat has been a huge selective pressure in males but not females for all of human history.

I had already said the women couldn't beat the men. Women commit serious acts of physical violence all the time. Just because men are more well suited to war does not mean women have no instinct for it. Humans are violent. Butt scooting isn't a good example of war vibes, but breaking bones sure is. That stuff is a result of the rules, not a limitation on the capacity for women to be violent.

i may just be a dumb noob, but when i watch bjj competitions its like am watching this slap ones....its impressive and entertaining. i mean at least in wrestling or judo they both start on the feet. here they just drag their bums. at least do takedowns. i dunno, i just find it odd

You know what I don't get about this, martial art' is that someone can scoot around on their ass and it is the responsibility of the other person to drop into your guard to initiate an attack? WTF man. If you want to win, force your aponnent into guard and then submit them? In the real world, lay on your back and you're going to get stomped the fuck out. How is this an effective defense strategy?

If you're in a fight and it goes to the ground fine. But to lay downed wait for someone to come down and roll, is not what the "SPORT" is about! It's a direct slap in the face to the intended purpose of it!

There are several reasons to sit . The primary reason is to protect your knee from an opponent who might jump guard and land on your knee. Secondly, sitting makes it easier for your opponent to pass your guard if he knows how. Thirdly, it is the fastest way to access your opponent's legs, a position from which many do not know how to escape.
This approach is strategic: why rely on brute force when technique can be more effective? Strength is often the main tool of those who lack technical skills, but muscles tire out faster than a well-executed strategy and refined skills.
This is part of the evolution of the sport. Someday, there will be effective ways to counter these techniques, and new strategies will emerge. Of course, there will always be those who complain and others who use these methods to their advantage.
