Although Rocky fought older fighters, he was old when he started boxing professionally. Also, Joe Louis was 37, not 42 when he fought Marciano. Marciano also destroyed Ezzard Charles in two fights. Charles was young and considered to be an all-time great heavyweight. Never mind the fact that Marciano trained harder, sometimes spending 8 months in training camp. Zito is wrong on many counts, however Zito is often wrong but never in doubt.
Ali is 100% greater than Tyson. Tyson was an amazing fighter and deserves all the praise he receives. However Ali did something Tyson couldn’t, and that’s come back. Once Tyson lost and he couldn’t stop losing. Everyone knows once a champion gets knocked out it’s EXTREMELY hard for him to get back to where he was. Ali did it and attempted to do it 3 times. If you haven't seen that Ali-Holmes fight that he mentions, JUST DON'T; it's frankly disturbing and there's just nothing to be gained from it. That aside, I agree that prime Ali would beat prime Tyson. He wouldn't have feared him and would've be savvy enough to be careful during the first four rounds or so and from there, I think he would've systematically picked him apart and maybe even knocked him out in the later rounds.
