Yeah but how do you change it to the traditional cruise control? I have a telluride and it starts slowing down way before the car is coming up so I’m constantly hitting the accelerator pedal to go around people after it starts slowing down instead of just seamlessly going around them
You can't move into regular cruise control, only adaptive. Use the shortest distance and like you're already doing.. just press the accelerator when you find it braking prematurely
@@CarsWithSteveit’s really annoying that you cannot do that anymore. Every time a car in front of me slows down my “smart” cruise control hits the brakes. It’s also pretty annoying for the cars behind me to see me brake constantly.
@@CarsWithSteve In the 2025 PHEV Sorento, long pressing the cruise control button actually does do something. It changes you into a speed limiting function where there is absolutely no adaptive function, and you have to hold down the gas yourself, but flooring the gas will not increase your speed past the set speed limit.
Could be a few things.. If you're parked you won't be able to toggle on smart cruise, so you'll get that message instead. If you're driving and get that message, the camera behind the rearview mirror facing forward over the hood might be blocked. Try being in drive and rolling a bit to toggle the system on, run the windshield wipers to make sure that camera is clear or try a start/stop cycle
Yea, but how do you turn off the adaptive part all together. Damn thing has almost gotten me rear-ended twice. I want to use cruise without that stupid adaptive part!
It's only adaptive cruise control, there's no way to switch to traditional cruise. It's not the cars fault if the donkey behind you is riding your bumper or not paying attention...
@ it is if the car slams on the brakes because another car 75 yrds in front of you turns off to another road and that damn adaptive system goes from 60 to 40 in a flash when the car in front is long turned. Absolutely dangerous. And yes, i have it set at a 1 and not the 4. Terrible system.
@ it is always set on one cause I can’t stand slowing down 1/2 mile behind a car. We have tried everything, just want a way to turn it off and on like other MFG’rs have!
The lane assist in some higher trims/models is smarter for sure but it's meant more of an assist system compared to full self driving. Kia isn't there yet ;) How are you enjoying the Forte otherwise?
@@CarsWithSteve Love the Forte! At 15,000 miles no issues. No dealer mark up like Toyota and Honda in 2022. I would buy another next time. Thank you for your videos Steve!
@@CarsWithStevejust bought the 2025 carnival in it almost drives itself like you can go around curves and everything on the highway and it just follows it. I just barely touching the steering wheel I actually have left my hands off the wheel for like a minute for it told me to put my hands back on

Great review! It helps me a lot 😊
Thanks! What Kia are you driving?
What does long pressing the "on" cruise control do?
Makes your finger sore? Unfortunately Kia vehicles don't have the flexibility to switch between normal and adaptive cruise control
@@CarsWithSteve I hate that I cannot switch to normal cruise. Not a fan of smart cruise!

what is the symbol means below the cruise control on the right side
I explain it in this video... It's to determine the gap between you and the car in front of you
What does it mean when it says (smart ctrl cruise conditions not met)

This is exactly what mine says when I try to use it
I have a 2021 sportage. The Kane assist came on my instrument panel blocking my speed and I can't get it off !!!!
Any message should go away after a few seconds. Does it go away when you turn the system off?
2:52 Sounds like tires screeching. Concerning.
HAHA! That was from the little subscribe graphic that came up on screen

Have you tried playing with the distance indicator? Set it to level 1 instead of 3 or 4

Reach out and complain to Kia head office. If they don't get complaints that people want the option they'll have no idea
2022 Kia Forte has lane assist. Our experience the car can not keep up with the lanes on the freeway.

I've known Fortes that have easily rolled over 250,000 km! Enjoy the new ride

Why is the steering wheel so shaky in the hand, very easily to loose control.
Is there something wrong with your alignment?
