Great and honest video Pri Yon Joni, when you connected your rev7 to serato 2.5.9 on your MacBook Pro 10.13 (high sierra) we’re you prompted to install a driver ? And did ut install successfully Getting mixed feedback , when I updated my serato to 2.5.9 on my 10.13 mbp I , my s11 prompted to install An updated driver with no issues but my 1000srt prompted to update the driver but failed as the os wasn’t 10.15 minimum required , aim to pickup the rev 7 and not keen to update my OS at this stage if I can avoid it thankyou
Pri Yon Joni, funny that you made this video about installing Serato Dj pro to the Mac Sierra OS. I own a REV 1. Decided to install it to my I-Mac 2012 desktop. Come to find out, I was surprised just like you to see that Serato DJ pro 2.5 worked on such an old OS.
I'm having a similar issue but with my controller. I have a ns7ii. And there's no support past Sierra on the MacBook. And there's no divers pass windows 10. It's running fine for now. Saving up $$ so I could get the rev 7. Thanks for the video.
I, too, have a late-2013 MacBook Pro 15”, and I’m running Big Sur on it, so with that I do have the latest version of Serato on it. I also have the NVIDIA graphics card, but as I’m only using this laptop for DJing these days it’s redundant. I have an M1 MBP on backorder, but I’m sure to hold onto the old one and use it as a backup, especially for live streaming. But yes indeed, this laptop is scheduled to be “obsolete” by Apple next year, so good bye OS upgrades.
Great review as always! I’m currently working with a old MacBook 15 inch laptop myself (2010) I’m Curious to know do you think I’ll have problems with the rev 7? I upgraded my ram not that long ago. Thank you
Nothing unexpected happen. I think I prefer one slip sheet versus two. I did accidentally click the 33/45 buttons when I mean to go for the pitch bend, but that’s just developing the muscle memory. While I’m not used to battle style myself, the shorter distance from the tempo slider is much easier on my back than actual turntables in battle style.
Rocking the Adidas, nice! How hot does that Mac get with the protective case you've got on it? Mine's a 2015, and it gets pretty toasty. Not a problem in winter, but summer gigs can be a problem.
The only time I ever had an issue was during an outdoor gig when it was 106 outside in Chicago. Aside from that, I run a manual fan app that keeps the fans going a little stronger. And I have opened it up to clean dust out. I’m planing on doing what Drew has done which is to put thermal tape inside it.
@@priyonjoni I did the thermal tape thing... it made the base of my laptop much warmer, basically turning the whole base into a heat sink. It becomes uncomfortably warm to use it as a "lap"top, but if you have external ventilation, like a fan under the laptop stand, the larger surface area really makes a difference to the processor temperature.
I faced an interesting challenge this past week 😅. I run my serato on Mojave but I couldn't get my 2.5.9 running with s9 or the 1000srt yet a year ago I could run these devices on my current configuration. I only managed to get it work by downgrading serato to 2.3.0
Bro. Hope you can help me, I am trying to run serato 2.6 on my Macbook pro 2015 Catalina 16G Ram using Rev7. But the wave forms are having glitches and the sound is distorted. Already tried to upgrade OS to Monterey and still the same. Then downgrade again to Catalina.🤦 . Im on the verge of giving up my Mac.
Wouldnt upgrade at least when the club standard mixer dont work with your pc via club kit. Im currently running high sierra on an 2011 mb pro 13“ and never had issues. I wont upgrade serato either bc it tells me to upgrade the djm s9 driver which is not supported by high sierra. So i will stay with a lower serato version. Never change a running system. If it works. Why update?
Thanks for info, I have similar set up Mc pro 2013 , running with s11 and and Rane 12 with no issue on my gig not sure what serato software version on mine that recently updated but not the new version.
I have a Toshiba laptop c55 a5300, and yes it's a half 7 year old laptop, only two parts that is laptop needs to be upgraded with a new SSD 1 terabyte hard drive and a 16 GB ram. 💯💯💯💯
And the solution is bootcamp...install windows 10 latest version, install serato full screen and you won´t notice the difference, and the 2 problems, security and stability will be solved. I know it´s sacreligious win on a mac, but hey for a dedicated serato maschine even on old hardware, it's a great solution. And no mac vs pc whining please,it´s a possible solution, take it or leave it the choice is yours.
What process did you use to expand the horizontal waveforms on your display? it used to be audio cache in scratch live. But I dont see anything in Serato DJ Pro.
@@priyonjoni yes I have Serato Dj pro paid the Rev 1 just isn’t working Pioneer say I need to upgrade to Catalina but I can’t so new MacBook is needed I guess.
Upgrading from an old OS with itunes to the new one will not correctly transfer all your music. Do not listen to this video if you use itunes to create your playlists. It destroyed my entire library.

Appreciate you keeping it 100 with is man. Im still amazed @ your Peter Piper Routine & on a $250 Controller. The best to do it @Pri yon Joni
Jazzy Jeff does it better!
I run a Mac on El Captain and it is a beast, so I’ve got you beat in old hardware!!

exactly what I needed thank you!!!! I'm about to buy one and need to know if my old 2013 MacBook Pro will work with the rev7

Operating system is sierra as well
It’s possible. It depends what OS you can upgrade it to. There may be a cap on the 2010 models.
I’m running El Capitan on 13 MacBook Pro. But now I’m curious about that XMG 15
Good info.....but how did the DDj-REV7 perform? Any issues or smooth sailing?

@@priyonjoni Alright! I am actually thinking about getting one, but i must say, there are some layout choices i don't really dig

Good to know. I haven’t experienced any issues on this Mac with the S11 or S7 but I’ll be paying attention to it.

There is an option called “expanded” on the same drop down for the waveform orientation.
@@priyonjoni Interesting. I dont see "expanded". I see extended with the appearance of both waveforms stacked on each other.
I used a 2009 MacBook Pro the installer didn’t work at all at least for the rev 1
How did you get it to work on High Sierra?
I installed it, and it simply worked.
I downloaded the latest version of Serato and my rev 1 still won’t work.
The REV1 runs on Serato DJ Lite. If you want to use it with Serato DJ Pro, it requires purchasing a license for Pro.
@@priyonjoni yes I have Serato Dj pro paid the Rev 1 just isn’t working Pioneer say I need to upgrade to Catalina but I can’t so new MacBook is needed I guess.
I have the same model as your MacBook
What about the rev 7
